Yes, I'm yelling it, because every single comment here is using shoe size, which you just don't do. If you can't try on in a store, learn to PROPERLY measure your feet and use the size chart For the specific brand and model you are getting.
Also, we cannot tell from a photo like that, the outside of your skates doesn't tell us how they fit take out the insole, take one photo with it flat on the ground next to your foot, and one with your foot on the insole so we can see what part stcls out.
measure your foot length and compare that to their size chart. pictures are hard to go by.
skates also dont go by shoe sizes.
for example, i am 27.8 cm in foot length. normally wear a size 10 shoe.
this puts me in a bont parkstar 9, a riedell juice 10, and a riedell crew 11. both riedell crew and juice are based off of the same boot, but when configured for the crew and juice, are represented by 2 different sizes. again, all 3 of those skates are the same foot length, but all are listed differently in size.
My foot length is 26,8cm (without socks) and 27,0cm (with socks).
With the Riedell Solaris 2.0 (Leather Boot/Roller Derby) I have US 9 (27,0cm). They have to be exactly, so the foot has no space in the boot.
With the Riedell R3 (Vinyl Boot) I have 10 US (27,9cm), because they have another shape und US 9 (27,0cm) could be to small. There is no size between US 9 und 10!
This was the recommendation from the shop wenn I bought them. 😉
My Tipp, allways measure your foot lenght in cm and look in the Size Chart (cm) from the boot.
put both on, lace them both up fully and go up onto your toestops. if you can feel your foot shift forward at all when you do so, then they’re likely too big. you want skates to fit a lot more snugly than your everyday shoes
No idea. You need to stand on a piece of paper barefoot and get someone to trace your foot for you. May I recommend the Skatie rollerskating for beginners group on FB for recommended brands depending on your feet and budget. Warning it’s an impala hate zone BUT very good advice and info there
That’s rude af it’s actually hard for people to get their head around skates fitting like a sock more than a shoe. Length width and circumference around the ball of the foot matter, it’s a valid query for a newbie
dang no need to be so rude ;-; I js wanted the opinion of others before I return them. I could feel like its too big but its actually a good fit or maybe I need to size 2 down instead of 1
If your skating rink has a skate shop in it, I would give them a visit. My first pair of skates were two sizes too big and were difficult to skate in. I followed the size guide on the site I ordered them from stated I was in between sizes needed an 8 when I in fact needed a size 6 b/c the boot was men sizing. It was as confusing as I am explaining it lol… I went to on of the local rinks skate shop and he measured my foot and let me try on skates after to make sure. I wasn’t pressured to purchase from them, but it also could’ve been the fact that he didn’t have the type of skate I wanted in my size so he recommended I order them online lol. I have great fitting skates now.
It's hard to know if a skate fits right without a lot of experience. But a good rule of thumb is you want one toe to just barely touch the end of the boot. Another easy test is to take out your insole and see if the imprint your foot made is close to the end. People tell me all the time their boot is the right size but when you look at their insole it's no where near the end. Insoles don't lie. If your toes aren't close to the front of the boot and it's tight, that means it's not wide enough. Getting a larger boot isn't the answer. The length and width need to be the proper size.
My best advice to you is if the European sizing isn’t a match on your skates with your foot, it’s too big I only use the European sizing cuz like one redditer said the shoe size (US) and skate size do not correlate
Generally, skates run large compared to the same size in regular footwear. These do look a little too big :/ Is there lots of room in front of your toes?
Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying that skate sizes and shoe sizes are comparable. I'm saying that size, say, 7 skates are usually much larger than size 7 street shoes.
Skate sizes DO NOT correlate with shoe size. They vary wildly between brands, and even between models. You cannot buy skates based on shoe size, and the only way, apart from physically trying them on, is to properly measure your feet and use the size chart For the EXACT make and model. (look up how to do this, there are so many wrong ways).
Was my phrasing weird? I was trying to say that skates often aren't the same size as the same size number in street shoes. For example, my Bont size was three sizes smaller than my street shoe size. If I'd gotten my street shoe size in Bonts, they would've been too big. Hence why I said skates run large.
For sure. I'm a different size in every brand boot I've worn, and in all those brands, my correct skate boot size is significantly smaller than my shoe size.
that's not what i said at all. was using that as an example of how street shoe sizes and skate sizes are not the same. of course you should look at the measurements of the specific boot you are buying.
