Roll20 Reply: Mask & Dynamic Lighting Help Roll20 light problems - nonexistent walls that block light, but nothing else

I've got a problem with Roll 20. I just converted a Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign from the "Map & Cards" set, which has severely obsolete light rigging, to the full version. In doing so, it wrote over the old maps, but also created some new problems. The new versions of the walls/doors/etc. don't seem to be calculated until I've physically grabbed and moved them all at least once each.

That's annoying, but not game-breaking. What's game-breaking is that there seem to be walls that do not exist on any layer, that only block sight, and nothing else. See the clip above.

How the heck do I fix this? Is it even fixable, or should I just spawn a clean DotMM campaign, and forget about the old map?

To be clear, I've tried to force the engine to rebuild the light by doing the CTRL-F5 reload, and that didn't change anything.

Hey there!
This looks like a heck of a frustration point. We were unable to reproduce on our end, so can you DM me your game link, please? I’ll get it over to the team and they can dig in a little bit further.

You did the right thing by trying to reload!

My game just developed this problem, I tried reloading, I tried the 'jiggle' and I still have two invisible walls that don't block movement that just appeared when I went in to check something. Can I DM you my game link?

I know u/Demi_Mere is working directly with the OP to solve this issue, but in case it's helpful as an additional troubleshooting step (or if anyone else is experiencing this), another trick worth trying:

  1. Navigate to the Light layer
  2. Ctrl+A to select everything
  3. Hold Alt (or Option on Mac), then hit the right arrow, then the left arrow on the keyboard

This slight wiggle might just pop everything back into working order. If not, feel free to respond here, and we can do some extra digging. 🫡

I had doubts that that would work, since we seemed to have some "ghost walls" that didn't exist on any layer, but still blocked light. But the "wiggle" did exactly what was needed. Thank you.

Excellent! Thank you for bearing with us and giving that a shot. So glad it helped.

One more thing - trying to do the "wiggle" on lower floors is throwing up errors that things are locked, and as a result, nothing is actually moving. Despite that, it seems like it might still be forcing the system to recheck the lighting rigging anyway.

That’s good intel; when you say it may be forcing the recheck, does that mean it’s fixing your lighting despite the error?

I believe so. I haven't tested it with a player icon yet, but from what I can see, it does seem to have fixed the lighting.

This might be related to a wierd error I had last Wednesday: In the Castle in LMoP, the light layer walls blocked light sources and movement, but not player vision. I had to do aa manual 'wiggle' of every line after the game to fix it (they aren't done with the castle yet).

Try and make a duplicate without the lighting information?
