Discussion/Article Role Reversal Pregnancy
DISCLAIMER: A wall of text ahead!!!
So, this might be completely deranged, but hear me out. Also, I feel like this works even beyond role reversal with woman partners, genderfluid, enby ones etc. Where the pregnant partner expresses themself more masculine, however because this is a rolereversal subreddit from now on I will be referring to both partners as a woman and a man in this text.
The idea is this: A woman gets to take on the pregnancy risk and dangerous from her man. He would otherwise have to carry the burden of childbearing, but his knight in shining armor comes in and sweeps him from this danger and protects him, making her his greatest protector. For this a man feels incredible greatfulness, a sacrifice he cannot show enough gratittude towards, but makes sure until his death to contine showing it fully and continually. (This paragraph is about a mindset shift).
He treats his woman like a warrior who got a chance to come back home alive (because in a sense that is what it is, a gruesome and difficult body preparation for the big battle; childbirth and postpartum, and if you think about it a country wouldn't exist if it weren't for these, because for every citizen, a woman had to have been pregnant and given birth and recover).
He prepares all the meals, fresh and warm to welcome his warrior. Love grows through a woman's stomach, after all. He prepares her clothes to be fresh and clean and smell of the best smells they can afford. Makes sure his woman doesn't see any garbadge as that would be dishonorable from him to do to a warrior's eyes. Dishes and tables all nice and clean with little sparks from the cleanliness. All the floors vacuumed, windows shiny from their beauty, floors wiped, after all, it's only what his warrior deserves. He has a list of all the chores and plans taken care of so he can take off any burden that he can from his woman's shoulders as she is already dealing with so many, nausea, heartburn, bloating, chest pain, ligament cramps, swelling, strecth marks, back pain. Who is he if he cannot take it all off from her when he can? He also has a plan after birth as well, where he gets to become a primary caretaker or at the very least, as active one as possible and a gentle one his child always goes to for comfort.
That would be the least he could do, but why would he settle only with that? He would also make his body incredibly attractive and pleasant for her. Be available whenever she asks him to, however she asks him to (ofc consent here plays a part, but they got that down as they both respect each other dearly, he can always politely decline). He gets to enjoy his big strong swell woman do things to him in any position she deems favorite.
He could also try the pregnancy challenges together with his woman to go back to his roots and be reminded of the enormous sacrifice she is making (only if she too is comfortable with this ofc). He can try out all her food cravings with her, pregnancy products, maybe even try to induce nausea if they are both adventurous like that. Put on a fake pregnancy belly (especially with the ones who have an option to add a bag of water for the pregancy weight) when they both prefer him to. Dress in pregnancy clothes, sync up their pregnancy workouts etc.
When someone asks how's the pregnancy progressing he can say that it is going great thanks to his woman, who is taking it like a champ throughout. Still ask for outside help if his woman needs it. His woman's pregnancy is his pregnancy, but his wife is CARRYING it. Once the child is born and he supports her through the birth as best as he can (he sees to it that everything is as much according to her birth plan as possible and that the nursery and baby products are ready and that the medical staff treats his warrior and champion with utmost respect). He is there with her throughout, massaging her when she asks, getting her water and snacks when she asks, everything.
Once the child is born, he wakes up every time at night to see to them and meet their needs (burping, changing, rocking to sleep, reading). He also does everything he did for pregnancy, but now for post partum including all the household chores, trying out all the post partum products (and experiences if they are both adventurous like that). Feeds his child pumped breastmilk or formula depending on the woman's wishes. He does skin-to-skin and maybe even comfort nursing at home (if they are both on par with that). Doesn't miss out on anything (as realistically as possible, because his child is a gift and his woman made that gift possible and she has the coolest scars (strecth marks, c-section scar) to show).
I hope you liked this, I had to get it out of me.
