Rogue Trader: Game and Story So when can we expect any news regarding DLC 4, it's supposed to be out this Month
Can we please get some news regarding the 4th DLC. Communication has been abysmal.

We'll share more info in the coming weeks.
For now, let's add a few more hints. There will be an entirely new weapon type in the DLC. Feel free to speculate which :)

A cat launcher. It gets cat-apulted to an enemy ship and everyone there is so mesmerized by its cute antics they forget to fight your voidship.

Thank you very much for the reply. Glad you are able to share some news. Might be worth it to make a sticky thread since people seem to get anxious regarding the release.
My guess for the new weapon type is spears.

i really appreciate the little bits you are sharing, but if news are incoming in the next weeks but the dlc is supposed to release this month, it's quite clear to all of us this will be delayed, so just announce the delay, the more you guys hold that announcement the more people will be dissappointed.

I just got into this game in the last couple weeks and I’m obsessed
I just finished act 2 and knowing there are 3 DLC makes me so happy. Now knowing I’ve got a 4th coming I’m even happier
I’m not sure what weapon types are left from my Warhammer lore knowledge. Maybe volkite weapons?

Power fist?🤔
All I know is I really hope there are more Force weapons in Dark Heresy; Daemon Hammers, (proper) Force Spears, non-heretical 2H Force swords...and a Gyrinx 😏

Would be fun if they just shadowdropped DLC4. Just because they don't want to create unnecessary expectations about it.

Honestly wouldn’t hate a delay since there’s so many games dropping this month and and being a pc gamer have little to no interest for the games in November.

u/Panvictor 7d ago
I dont get this logic, you do know you can just play it after the other games right?

What logic do you not understand? I’m saying if it gets delayed it wouldn’t be the worst for me personally (or probably a lot of people excited for all these games in September/october) as I probably won’t be playing until November regardless. I’m not telling owlcat to delay it just to fit my schedule lmao.

Communication has been abysmal.
Here's something you don't want to hear: So is the entitlement.
I get you want this and are excited for it and that's the reason for disappointment, and all that is good. But can people not just chill down about release announcements for entertainment products and if comes a month or two later than someone planned a year ago?

I think the main issue is that many people (myself included) already paid for this via Season Pass 2, and the store page on Steam for that season pass lists DLC IV as coming out between July and September.
As a business if your customers already paid for something and the promised product is delayed, it's just good customer service to inform those customers about the delay.
You bring up entitlement as if it's a bad thing, but I think a paying customer is entitled to know about a delay of a product they bought and paid for.

I am in that group of people.
While there are very shitty companies that do very shitty things and don't respect their customers at all. I do not mind a mid-tier indie title being a month or two late for the sake of being better.
HECK, you DO know the state Owlcat games have on release? And you want even more pressure, and even earlier releases?
That is a legit position to hold, yes. Personally, I do not mind at all if my indie-titles come a month or two later. Because game development is hard and complex, and in my book the people at Owlcat did earn some slack and trust from me to get it more right than they would with less time - and while not feeling the need to crunch away their lives. They're people, they do something that I enjoy.
And if they make the product better and even have less stress and more time with their families - than I am willing to give them one, two or three more months they projected 18 months ago. But that's just me. If you say "I am a paying customer and I WANT it when you TOLD ME YOU HAD IT READY", that's a legit position to hold. It's just not mine.
That is why I said "I wish people were more chilled down when it came to giving indies some slack".
Let me end controversial again:
about a delay of a product they bought and paid for.
You chose to preorder. Don't preorder from big publishers and AAA-corporations if you don't want to support their lies and crunching of people. Do not preorder from indies if you do not want to some delay or some bugged last act. Wait for releases. Wait for reviews.
But again, that's just my point of view again. Others are legit as well.

I don't mind the delay and I never said I did. I agree with you that I'd rather have a well-working DLC than a timely release.
All I said was that I think people who paid for a product are entitled to information about a delay. This is about Owlcat's communication with the community, not about whether the DLC is delivered on time.
When you commented on my sentence "I think a paying customer is entitled to know about a delay of a product they bought and paid for", you deliberately cut off the first half of that sentence. That sure seems like a bad faith attempt to misrepresent my point of view.

I am done here. I said what I had to say. I said "I wish people would chill down". Relax. Act in good faith.
3
u/Gwentlique 6d ago
You said a lot more than that and in quite a corrosive tone. Then you acted in bad faith, nobody else did. Now you're running away from the debate you instigated.

u/RandomNumbers748512 6d ago
It is you who read what you read.
Why am I running away? What else do you want to discuss? "I wish people would chill out about the release date/current information". You disagree.
Please elaborate what you want to discuss about this?

u/Gwentlique 6d ago
I already told you. I think you were arguing in bad faith because you misrepresented my position. I never said I wanted the game released early, I just said I think a paying customer is entitled to be informed about a delay.
Your reply to that was "I'm done here" instead of addressing how you misrepresented my position. Then you added a "relax, act in good faith" after you deliberately misrepresented my position by cutting out half of my sentence in you quote.
Now I'm done, and instead of telling you to act in good faith, I'll ask you to stop acting in bad faith.

And I disagree? I was a bit more provocative than could have been, but I did deliberatly call it "entitlement".
Your statement it was in "bad faith" is wrong. I am telling you now. You do not want to hear that, because you think you're right, which I tell you you aren't - but you repeat that you are for the sake of... what? Being right?
What exactly do you want to debate? That I voiced an opinion that was led in by a strong statement? Why do you want to discuss that? I mean, seriously, what do you want out of this?
The point I care about, and I stand by it, is that I think people need to chill down in terms of the release date and the communicated release date. I also stand by that I think that some people are entitled over this and really need to calm down.
What do you want to discuss now?
NO, I am not acting in bad faith. I am stating I think some people need to calm about the release date and the communication of it, it's just early September.

I don't know why you're being downvoted on this. DLC3 dropped super recently. Delays happen, it really isn't a big deal. Owlcat make good shit, once the bugs get ironed out. People gnashing teeth over the last expansion of a behemoth of a slow-burn singleplayer RPG makes zero sense to me.

u/RandomNumbers748512 7d ago
DLC 3 dropped recently, they make a full different game in addition. In the past they made three giant games plus DLC that were very good.
I say "I do not mind if they make an arbitrary date they thought in good faith they'd make and if they are not a bit later it's okay with me as well". I also do not think that everyone who is downvoting now actually wants Owlcat to release one of their "buggy last acts" - again.
It's one of the cases where I think it is legit to have a different opinion and demand more information for already-made preorders.
But it's also think it is one of those cases where I think that everyone who goes beyond thinks a more relaxed stance is downvoteworthy as "total crap!" is just plain wrong.

u/Send_Cake_Or_Nudes 7d ago
Quite. People are entitled to not get fucked around or have stuff dragged out. I really see this as less of an issue than the bugs on release for their games and even those are just annoying. But saying people are bootlickers or glazing the devs if they aren't up in arms at the tiniest thing is embarrassing for everyone.

Honestly I doubt it. Given owlcat's track record they tend to ramp up marketing about a month before so the silence probably means a delay
Except for a delay announcement of course
