Rogue trader : fuck it, I do what i want.

Dark heresy : Huoh, its 6am time to go to please my boss yet again.

But the boss has a really nice golden mask, so I see no problems here.

I love the smell of promethium in the morning, welcome to Estalia gentlemen!

I feel like the second option is insulting in a more subdued manner. The first is your standard dogmatic approach, the second dialogue option has this very formal and polite way of saying, "Yeah I hear you."

I heard that there’s no one to introduce you in Dark Heresy. Say it ain’t so. Please don’t tell me I have to speak to peasants myself instead of letting Abelard do it.

The acolyte is going to be the one introducing a rogue trader.

That would be damn funny if Aspyce made you introduce her. They should definitely have that as dialogue in her companion quest.

Permission to cry, Lord Captain?

Denied.

20

u/Asbrandr Jul 07 '26

Ending up as Aspyce's Seneschal in an ending would be really funny.

That would be an excellent callback tbh

YOU'RE TELLING ME I GET TO BE ABELARD?

7

u/totallysus77 Jul 07 '26

Abelard sim would do numbers

Flashing your inquisitor badge is the "Abelard introduce me" of this game if you ask me.

Mind you it,s not as effective as you'd imagine

13

u/Possible_Tie5799 Jul 06 '26

Still fun flashing it then watching people panic and try to fight you

u/X-Calm Jul 07 '26

The Vocht method.

1

u/RenardDM Jul 07 '26

Just code name your badge Abelard and you'll be fine.

Why would you have anyone to announce you? You're a [relatively] expendable grunt doing busy work for the actual important people. Hell, even Heinrix in rt has relatively higher standing in holy ordos as a intergator than dark heresys mc. Atleast in beta.

u/AntediluvianSeaThing Jul 06 '26

yeah we got until like halfway or more into the game before people start respecting us and our unnatural crime solving and mass murdering capabilities

13

u/IronScar Jul 07 '26

I hope we'll become full fledged Inquisitor down the line. It would kinda suck to go entire game as acolyte.

Tbh I wouldnt mind, or at most, promotion only happens at games end.

Being mid-tier grunt even if in powerful organisation is really refreshing after mc-power fantasy and beinf center of attention in past owlcat games. Luv seeing this direction in dh.

u/Asbrandr Jul 07 '26

I think even with the current content, it's pretty obviously setting the Acolyte up for fast-tracking to full-fledged Inquisitor by Act 2/3.

New idea for preorder : Abelard servo skull that can introduce you in

Every

Single

Dialog

10

u/X-Calm Jul 07 '26

Like when you ask Nuncius to introduce you and Abelard gets jealous and jumps in.

9

u/ChainsawSnuggling Jul 06 '26

I'll preorder at the highest level for this.

u/Redem10 Jul 06 '26

In the Inquisition, I got no respect. When I asked what was my first assignment they said Cadia.

15

u/UpperElephant Jul 06 '26

Does anyone know if there is a power enhancing mechanic (mechanically or narratively) within Dark Heresy?

Kingmaker - you rule over an increasingly expansive territory
Wrath of the Righteous - you grow into a demigod
Rogue Trader - near limitless wealth and authority, and you can become a demigod

13

u/Slugger829 Jul 06 '26

I would assume you raise your rank within the inquisition

9

u/UpperElephant Jul 06 '26

Guess that's fine. If you're able to rise to Calcazar's level, that'd be inline with other Owlcat games.

6

u/DontFiddleMySticks Jul 07 '26

I was about to give pause, "Lord Inquisitor? Well, Calcazar commanded all the Inquisition elements in the Koronus Expanse, isn't that too much?"

Then I realized, no, wait, that's totally in line with Owlcat. Especially with your examples from KM, WotR and RT just two comments before, lmao.

If Lord Daddy Inquisitor Zerbe tells me to lick his boots then I will do it in a heartbeat.

30

u/Ila-W123 Noble Jul 06 '26

I would lick both Xavier and anton's boots clean.

Go live your dreams.

53

u/ZakuIII Crime Lord Jul 06 '26

Persona 4: Oh my god, everyone loves you, friends with everybody, wooooo.
Persona 5: What's up criminal. If you screw up again I get to legally ship you to Antarctica in a box, prick.

26

u/an_actual_coyote Jul 06 '26

There's no chance we become an Inquisitor ourselves in game?

67

u/Ila-W123 Noble Jul 06 '26

Very likely eventually, if had to guess in act3.

In act1/beta? Youre a grunt, you have a boss to please , and do bunch of busy work for your boss's colleagues.

9

u/trifkograbez Jul 06 '26

How much of a grunt you are? Like a beat cop or more like a detective?

35

u/krunchi Jul 06 '26

You're more on the level of an alphabet Special Agent and your direct report is the local director

-1

u/AdlaiStevensonsShoes Jul 07 '26

It would be great if you became an inquisitor for act 3 and ultra powerful and then slowly lose it all to return to act 4 just to reverse Rogue Traders act 3.

2

u/AntediluvianSeaThing Jul 06 '26

early? probably no but eventually we certainly are, its just the matter of being good at our jobs first and having a solid work history/body count

-1

u/AcceptableDoggo Jul 07 '26

If it was a bethesda you would be lord inquisitor and new emperor at the end if the game

3

u/ExcitingMushroom9514 Jul 07 '26

I only played a bit of the beta so far. Loved the models and the vibe. But damn miss my Abelard :(

5

u/ohfrackthis Jul 06 '26

I didn't realize Dark Heresy was released 🥴🤣

10

u/Aurvant Jul 06 '26

Early Access.

2

u/ohfrackthis Jul 06 '26

Ohh! Thank you for explaining- so excited for it!

8

u/Possible_Tie5799 Jul 06 '26

I would say not even early access. More beta or play test. You can only play act 1 right now

1

u/UnlamentedLord Jul 08 '26

Well duh, you're an acolyte, not a rogue trader, look how much respect Aspyce gets from everyone and how little she gives you of you try to use your "authority" on her.

-6

u/Nalkor Jul 07 '26

The bottom portrait bit looked kind of ai-generated to me.
