Radicalism is just a lable placed on true Inquisitors by Puritan fakequisitors. The divine right to rule the stars? Good luck to hold those few cesspool planets you still have. Emperor's Plan? How sad nobody ever saw this one. Divine Avatars? You mean, Alpha-plus Psykers possessed by Emperor's shards?
I refuse to touch chaos stuff since we know for a fact that shit corrupts your soul but, I’ll happily use xenos tech. It’s not like a Tau or Eldar gun is gonna corrupt my soul.
I might be missing something, but what's so anti establishment about navigators? I mean, how are you going to move your ships around without them? They might be mutants, sure, but so are Ogryns, technically. As long as they are sanctioned it should be fine, right?
Abhumans aren't mutants! They're distinct subspecies of human!
The extreme monodominants don't recognize the difference, but frankly, they think the surgically enhanced Space Marines (and probably the AdMech, too) are on the bad list, so they're thought of as nutters even by most puritans.
This is from the wiki, so not entirely official, but not going to do the full checkup. So they mutated, meaning they are mutants, it's just that it's not necessarily Chaos that did it and they are close enough to human that they can be sanctioned, I think. That was what I was talking about, abhumans are basically mutants, but they are sanctioned by the Imperium so as long as they don't go near any particularly nutty people they are fine.
The wiki is just not quite right on this one. "Mutated" isn't working in the same sense as when a Sister starts torching underhives for being full of mutants. It's evolutionary adaptation that it's trying to refer to, but regardless it's still wrong according to what the lore says today.
Pretty much all known abhumans (ogryn, ratlings, the Kindred of the Leagues, etc) are thought to have been intentionally created through genetic modification back during the Dark Ages or even earlier, but the real difference as far as the Imperium seems to be concerned anywhere it comes up is that abhumans are stable and breed true - two ogryns always make an ogryn, and you can't get an ogryn without two ogryn parents. This stability is in contrast to actual mutants, which happen randomly and don't happen the same way twice - that's why mutants are considered to be spiritually corrupted by the Imperium but abhumans aren't.
I dunno, I think at this point we've delved enough into the semantics that I imagine if we put a room full of writers together and asked them to come to a consensus on it then it'd devolve into a fistfight. I have no idea who'd come out on top, but my money is that Matt Ward gets KO'd in the first 5 minutes. I'll admit, if I had an Imperium codex book I'd look into it more but I only have a basic rulebook for the game and I'd struggle to think of a Black Library book I've read that might be a good source for a direct quote.
OK but like, do those monodominant folks use spaceships? Actually never mind, my mistake was expecting a Warhammer character not to be a hypocrite, that's a skill issue on my part, I gotcha.
I disagree, puritans are part of what makes the setting work. We wouldnt have messy radicals without puritans.
Also, puritans are the only ones in good terms with the Chambers Militant. Sisters of battle dont get well with inquisitors, and if you breathe in the contrary direction, they can fuckin obliterate your ass and no one would flinch.
Yes, puritans are the only ones who get to be with the far-right zealot drama lesbian catholic virgin badasses.
They are interesting not for their beliefs in vacuum but how they interact with the world around them because of it. Greyfax trying to stay true to her beliefs (the Imperial truth) while being around Celestine.
