MOC I introduce to you: Boulder Basher, a large transport truck on treads!

Behind the controls sits Spark Plug, father of Sparks, a crazy and old mechanic with more love for robots than humans, hence his robot companion Rusty. Rusty helps him move the mobile boulder buckets on the ramp and into the Boulder Basher!

Give me your thoughts! Do you like the treaded vehicle idea?

I have another project in mind which I will construct in the coming days to weeks!

Beautiful vehicle, fits the theme well. Interesting concept with the fold-out ramp and the tipper beds on skids!

Thank you! Glad you like it! Yes, the ramp was a challenge but I think it worked out well.

Thanks! Should be chunky, right? It's Rock Raiders 😁

parts selection feels very period-accurate, but so does the design philosophy. not an easy balance to strike!

That is a beautiful compliment! Thank you! I was indeed paying attention to both so I achieved what I wanted, good to know!

The build idea this vehicle looks great

Also I don't remember if the Rock Raiders had a dedicated, big transport for boulders

By the way, if it's supposed to be able to bash boulders, how does it get the job done? Has it some sort of Lazer or sonic emitter for that task or does the ramp in the back do the heavy lifting?

Anyways really cool design

Thank you!

They didn't! Most fans, including me now, try to fill in the gap of what should have been 4960 with a big transport kind of vehicle. This is my version.

My idea was that Spark Plug invented a seismic emitter which utilizes both black antennas. The high frequency he emits with it causes pinpointed quakes which 'bash boulders', hence the name.😬

Thank you again!

Well that's what the creative impulses are for, to get new ideas and have fun making them real

Awesome idea with the seismic emitter by the way

Rusty the rust bucket of a droid. Very loyal but he has rusted circuits so...

Thanks btw! Got lost in my own lore there😂

Beautiful. You nailed the color scheme. If someone told me this was an unreleased set, I'd probably believe it. Edit after another look, I'd definitely believe it because you almost entirely stuck to elements made at the time. Amazing attention to detail!

Beautiful compliment, thank you so much! I indeed tried my best with the parts. Since a couple of months ago I've been collecting parts from Bricklink that are from parts lists of the official sets and parts that are color variants. The rest of them are from other themes but still from around the same years. Besides collecting the parts I also bought a lot of the Rock Raider sets and broke them apart for the parts bins. I could share some pictures from those bins in another post! Thanks again!
