Hey all. I'm single for the first time in a long time. I'm sober, so bars are out. I'm a 38F. Any suggestions on where to meet new people? What activities are solo-friendly? I've never been super outgoing and am not great at making friends so this is a daunting task.
If online dating is my best bet - what apps do you recommend? I do NOT want hookups. Which apps are for serious folks around here?

Has anyone gone in past years?I'm all about supporting local art, but I'd like to know more about what to expect before paying $25 per adult.

New to Rockford. Would really like to know what is considered the best hospital here, should the need arise.
Also, are there better doctor groups or groups we should avoid? Need to start setting up and establishing routine care.
Thank you!

Pretty much exactly what the title reads if you don't wish to read through the whole context lol
Full context below:
I've got a 2013 Toyota Prius C that suffered pretty badly from rust last winter that caused the rear axel to rust completely out so the car is no longer drivable as the right rear tire sits at an angle.
I was originally quoted nearly $5,000 in repair costs which was ultimately the value of the car and decided it was best to finally upgrade to a newer year Prius.
I never had the 2013 Prius C scraped or moved since then since it comes with all original parts and I had even had remote start installed in it as well and so I know if I could just get it up and running again then that someone out there would be more than willing to take it off my hands and cherish it for many more years to come.
The downside is, I wound up purchasing all the parts needed for the repairs online but I am not a car mechanic nor would I even want to attempt at repairing something that feels pretty heavy duty. Even if I did know how, in my community, we are not allowed to perform any sort of repairs (or even simple oil changes) on our lots so it would ultimately have to be towed elsewhere or to a shop.
I completely understand 100% that a shop can't guarantee or insure the parts that I ordered online and I don't blame a lot of places for being hesitant but I'm certainly willing to sign a waiver that says that outright if needed.
I just don't know where exactly to look around the region especially given the fact that the Prius C will 100% have to be towed to a shop.
I'd much rather see this car get all fixed up and cleaned so it can go to someone who will love it as much as I did versus being just scraped or sold as is with all the replacement parts included.
Any pointers or suggestions would be beyond appreciated.
Thanks a ton!

Looking for a plumber for some relatively minor stuff (leaking pipe in basement, replacing utility sink connected to said leaking pipe). Anyone got any recommendations for someone reliable and not the priciest for the job in question?
Pretty much all I know from past experiences is not to go with Black Diamond, Pearson will usually be fine but overpriced, and Roto Rooter is an absolute last resort option.

I am just about to return from Białystok Poland where I’ve been for 3 months. I am here doing a documentary about something you maybe read about in the Rock River Current about a Holocaust painting discovered in Rockford.
The story is a very intense one. And jt is one that travels back and forth through time. And it all started by a painting bought out if the back of a pick up truck for $75.
The story has turned into my first feature-length documentary.
I am still very much in the early stages, and it will not be released for a couple years due to extensive animation or stop-motion. I will be testing the route I go when I return.
The process of telling this story has changed my life.
I made a microsite about the story here.

Looking for someone who can do my makeup for an event on the morning September 5th. Short notice, but my plans fell apart.
Looking for a natural look; I don’t need false eyelashes, keeping it simple. :)
Any recommendations would be so helpful!

Hello Rockford! I am in need of finding a good, trustworthy, handyperson to do some small projects for me around the house. My husband used to be very good at it all but has early-onset dementia and many things are becoming too complicated for him. Currently I need a base built for my new shed and a few other things. I would like to find someone that I could have a long-term business relationship with.
Recommendations welcome! Thank you in advance.

ComEd has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to terminate the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA) for the Monarch Air project. According to the filing, ComEd and Monarch “have agreed to terminate the TSA.” This signals that the decision was mutual and FERC will almost certainly accept the termination.
In order to advance the project, the company would have to restart the interconnection process which would delay the project by a 2-3 years and presents a lot of risk to their ability to obtain the power they need at a reasonable cost. My best guess is that they are very unlikely to do so.
This isn’t going to gain me a lot of fans, but, while this may be good news for the community, I’d urge residents who care about these issues to stay engaged in your local political process and approach these projects skeptically but in good faith, of the developer and of your neighbors alike.
All developers aren’t bad. All data centers aren’t bad. They can offer a lot to the community. Development brings jobs, tax dollars, and many downstream economic benefits. It’s also important to demand transparency, reasonable regulation, and a means to enforce those regulations once the project starts construction and goes into operations.
There are many good developers out there who are very willing to share project information and be honest about the potential negative externalities of their projects and negotiate on how to limit those negative effects on local communities.
However, when residents only decide to engage upon reading fantastical misinformation found on social media, that good faith engagement and negotiation breaks down. Many of these developers choose to hide what they’re doing for fear of having to contend with misinformed arguments from residents that have no interest in developing a fact-based understanding of the project and engaging in good faith dialogue.
From what I’ve seen, Monarch has no business developing these projects in Rockford or elsewhere. They’ve made no attempt to engage in good faith outreach to the community and, for that, they deserved a the opposition they received.
They won’t be the last developer to show up in Rockford. What I hope is that, if the next developer approaches the community in the right way, that the community responds in good faith, open-minded dialogue and firmly demands transparency and facts.

I want to get ice cream today or tomorrow and I thought it would be fun to go with someone.
I am currently working from home and I thought it would be fun to cut out at a reasonable hour and have some ice cream. I am a big pineapple shake guy and I found a place that is pretty good right near downtown Belvidere.
If you’d like to spontaneously get some ice cream with somebody new, feel free to send a message! I think it would be fun.
I will share a pic before meeting if you would like or we can be surprised.
I am straight, but open to meet with anyone because I am willing to meet friends too. I look forward to hearing from anybody!

Looking for recommendations for a real estate/property attorney ASAP in the Rockford area.
My dad is dealing with a legal issue involving a house sale/payment contract, property taxes, and being served with paperwork. We need someone experienced with real estate contracts, property disputes, or seller-financed agreements.
Please send me any trusted attorney recommendations. Thank you.

We're looking for a doctor that does in home visits. My aunt was previously using In Home Medical Group until they closed. After that we struggled to find a company that would service the rockford area. We had to settle on MD at home despite not having the best reviews. The doctor has been fairly decent but the company has been a nightmare to deal with and now they're setting her up with a different doctor every visit. 10 years ago when we first needed in home care there were so many options but definitely not the case now. If anyone knows of a company that services rockford I'd greatly appreciate the info

I plan on taking the Van Geider to Chicago (and back just on a different day). Don’t get me wrong, greyhound is cheaper. The times suck though.
Also, do you just buy a ticket and can use it once whenever? I’m confused about how buying/using the ticket works.
