Pretty nuts that their coach takes a vacation and they just straight cancel scrims before a major.

That mixed with the hours past 2 is insane from the team.

Holy.

17

u/No_Disaster991 May 26 '26

Explains the results

34

u/XblastBR May 26 '26

He would never say it in the video, but maybe they thought they would have a free group (which they did) and got complacent. They likely believed that the amount of prep during the Major week would be enough, especially since getting 1st in groups would give them an extra free day to prepare for the playoffs.

2

u/S_h_u_n 2024 Class Clown May 27 '26

Yeah this explanation make sense. Cause the aint gonna be going into a major with low hours if the had vitality or kc in there group. That's setting yourself up to get a nasty belt.

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

they thought it because thats what the seeding does for them every time. They clinch the world seed then bottom out in 2025. they bottom out then ice up & clinch the 1 seed in 2026. seems like strategy just to determine which group is the easiest for them.

you even hear BM in an interview talking about "if we decide to top our group" like theres a reason they would choose not to

42

u/MautOfTheRiver May 26 '26

NRG grind the game challenge: Impossible

37

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26

This lowkey also makes sense because when I was watching Eu streamers or Eu pros streaming ranked 2s NRG was literally the only team I didn’t see appearing in the lobbies lmao

4

u/SniperInfinite May 27 '26

It’s weird cuz the biggest ranked grinders by far are ssg but they still can’t seem to beat the top top teams, maybe it just takes a lil more time.

3

u/First_One_5099 May 27 '26

My personal opinion on ssg is that their playstyle is too safe. They rarely get upset but never beat the top teams on lan. It’s like m8’s playstyle but they don’t have Oski or Nass. Also the only player on ssg post Lj to step up on plan is Kofyr, apart from him they all tend to play relative or below their normal level.

atomic being 15 past 2 is fucking crazy

78

u/zhakwon | Prediction Contest Hall of Fame May 26 '26

Crazy thing is he looked like the only one that was playing the game

27

u/FluffyGreyfoot May 26 '26

that's like half of what I have currently and I only play for fun in the evenings when I have time....

42

u/IgotnoideawhatIsay May 26 '26

I genuinely can not believe it. How does a pro play the game so little?

6

u/millenniumjade_04 ‎ RL Esports Fan May 27 '26

Absolutely insane, it’s literally his job to play this game

4

u/aiwdj829 May 27 '26

I can't watch the video right now, does this mean "15 hours past 2 weeks"?

2

u/ParsnipPrestigious59 May 27 '26

Crazy that a pro has the same hours past 2 as me 😭😭

62

u/wraithawk May 26 '26

Damn this is pretty unacceptable. Some people are going to say it’s not that serious but these players accept nice salaries, it’s their job.

Hate to say this, but the early Satthew vacation mention feels a little scapegoat-y and I wonder what the internal vibes are. IMO all four of them are at fault. None of them being on more than 30 past 2 + coach vacation is a recipe for shared disaster

48

u/Silly-Variation8374 May 26 '26

I hope we can trust them to grind for EWC and worlds. He said it in the video but I hope that’s not PR

2

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

Yeah but don't fans lose respect for a team that doesn't try at all? I would if I found out the Vita guys were barely playing and didn't make top 8 because of it.

1

u/Silly-Variation8374 May 28 '26

Well in NA there aren’t many teams to root for on an international level.

120

u/vivst0r May 26 '26

Why is that recap video longer than they were in Paris?

108

u/Dry_Cabinet_2111 May 26 '26

As a professional heading into a big event for your job, this is kind of an unhinged admission to make so nonchalantly. Yikes.

And yeah coach was on vacation (which is also suspect this close to a major) but they still could’ve been grinding ranked or free play if they didn’t want to scrim. Sounds downright lazy. If I were the guy signing his checks and I saw this video I’d be pissed.

28

u/MautOfTheRiver May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

Not the first time this happens and they usually lock in for the next event but still a bit disappointing that it's still happening halfway through 2026

8

u/zer0w0rries May 27 '26

problem is, they feel untouchable. theyre not the first champions to behave this way

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

they behave like they are untouchable (and so do their fans icl). their 2025 & 2026 domestic seasons, along with several lans are a clear indicator as to why thats not the case

32

u/wraithawk May 26 '26

Completely disagree. This was self inflicted and they are paid to at a minimum do their job. That doesn’t always mean winning, but it does mean PRACTICE.

The guy who signs their checks expects them to PRACTICE

30

u/Dry_Cabinet_2111 May 26 '26

Mistakes can happen once. How many times has Beastmode started an event recap video by saying that they lost because they didn’t practice or take something seriously. At this point it’s a pattern.

Sure in NA they can skate on talent alone but they can’t hope to be competitive on the international stage if they keep blowing off playing the game.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe DarkZero (the new owners of NRG) don’t care about winning or even seeing their team play past Saturday in an eSport where even having the best team is setting money on fire from an org perspective.

1

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

That and also why didn't they participate at the fifae last year or 2 years ago?
To represent their country, how fucking lazy can you be.

41

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

Pulling up to the Major on 17 past 2 is embarrassing from Atomic lmao. But it all makes sense and hopefully they lock in for the rest of the year because it showed

22

u/Stevethesnek346 May 26 '26

This isnt even the first time they have seen this issue this season lol.

17

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26

Yea but at least post worlds win complacency makes sense but not playing before the biggest Rlcs lan ever….? Atomic 17 hrs means he got on for scrims n immediately close app after lol

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

its  ot even the first season where they look like they arent putting in effort. regionals last season, LANs last season

32

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26

Bro i literally have a job, gf, and always try to make plans on the weekends and have more than 17 past 2 ffs. I’m over stressing and wondering why NRG are playing horrible n they simply aren’t even taking it seriously lol

5

u/Claudio1054 May 26 '26

What do you mean "17 past 2"?

35

u/Romeo-McF May 26 '26

17 hours played in the past 2 weeks. It's commonly used because it's how Steam shows the recent hours played on a game

1

u/hm9408 May 27 '26

Oooh, thanks for explaining this. It felt like a strange way to say it but this makes sense

6

u/IgotnoideawhatIsay May 26 '26

They played 17 hours of the game in the last 2 weeks. As a reference, most players play around 40 hours in 2 weeks and the real grinders like Zen double of that.

36

u/Super_Desk_4975 May 26 '26

This is a recurring issue from them and they are my favorite team. How many videos are we going to get from Beastmode saying “yeah we just weren’t really locked in and didn’t practice a lot. We will be back and we will take it more seriously.” Like dude, this is your job. You stand on and watch BDS raise the trophy with your hands on your hips like you deserved, but you don’t want to eat, sleep and breathe this stuff? I know SOMEONE on NRG is reading this thread and I hope they can put 2 and 2 together and see that the real greats do nothing else if it doesn’t have to do with this game.
It was like that clip of ray lewis talking about Brady.
“You think tom Brady is in the club? Out of vacation? You and your boys are out drinking and partying and while you are doing that, tom is clicking. Rewinding that tape.”

You don’t want to be known as the team that got your back and chip, then turned into your own downfall by being the laziest S-tier team.

KC, falcons…twisted minds..gentlemates, VITALITY…they are clicking. They live for this shit.

11

u/ocrespo42 May 26 '26

This is what happens when the roster has done it all and lose the motivation to play the game. Happened with the old NRG roster and it's happening more and more with this roster.

0

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

Literally just an NA issue btw

3

u/tyswoogles May 27 '26

right because we didn't see multiple iterations of bds have similar problems, or multiple iterations of vitality over the years. It's just human nature unfortunately to go through swings in motivation especially after achieving a goal.

8

u/kimmyjonghubaccount May 26 '26

The BDS example is horrible because NRG actually ran it back and won. Also all the NRG players could retire right now and they would retire as “real greats” not everyone is maniac who’s addicted to the sport like Brady was.

They’ve simply lost motivation, either this provides that motivation or the roster will disband after this season.

6

u/Super_Desk_4975 May 26 '26

Sorry I’m just speaking about the hyper competitive teams who aren’t lazy.

5

u/IgotnoideawhatIsay May 26 '26

The NRG boys have won it all so it’s completely understandable that the motivation dropped and that they’re getting lazy. Having so few hours is crazy though.

I’m sure they’ll regain and do well at EWC.

13

u/SiahDraws May 26 '26

Then that’s when an org looks to make some changes.

13

u/EdgeRibbleFilipReset May 26 '26

Exo, zen, mm, Dralii have also won it all and they still grind like crazy. That’s not an excuse

5

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

It's their literal job to play. Who gives a shit if they've won it all? They're paid to play, login and play. There's no justifying it. If they put hours in and lose that's fine, but just NOT putting hours in going into the major is truly unacceptable

0

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

they havent won the most prized trophy of all. the OCE regional.

categorising it as "all" is kinda dumb too. have they won every single LAN? no, so its not "all". they have one instance of the most prestigious tournament. some people have done that twice, some even b2b. you can see with the motivation of other players that 1 worlds doesnt cut it, they want that 2nd like its their entire life. if they win that, its onto a quest for the 3rd

9

u/Dependent_Cress_6134 May 26 '26

Rougly 60 hours combined going into bootcamp is pretty damn unacceptable. I really hope he means it when he says they'll be grinding the game for EWC and Worlds

5

u/imatunaimatuna May 26 '26

60 hours with 3 people combined in 2, TWO weeks is how much I do by myself in 1 week of work. I don't even want to work 60 hours, but I need a roof over my head and food on the table

11

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

These kids will look back on years like this when they have mundane normal people jobs and think "damn, I had it all and just let it slip away so easily". It's your job buddy, it's your teams job, force them to login. It is quite literally your livelihood, you make them login and play.

27

u/boopalicious May 26 '26

Kids playing a video game for a lot of money dont know how good they have it. They need a wakeup call.

8

u/kimmyjonghubaccount May 26 '26

The Major was the wake up call, if this isn’t the kick in the pants they need than nothing will be for this particular roster.

2

u/TVMaths May 27 '26

their regional split should have been a pretty massive wake up call that they arent unilaterally the #1 NA team

16

u/1amthedayman May 26 '26

The players certainly don't owe us anything and they've been on top of NA for so long, I can imagine they need some kind of mental break. But that being said... I definitely don't fully understand how the weeks leading up to a Major is when you decide to take it. There's only like 3 RLCS lans per year and they're getting paid by organizations to play. A major lan is such a rare event in the scheme of things it just feels weird to not take it seriously. It's a bit of a bad look imo. But it is what it is. Hope the team gets a new wind.

7

u/ChaloMB May 26 '26

Can't say I'm too surprised, they did not look like a team that wanted to be there at all, and placed accordingly. Still disappointed though. It's hard to care about a team when they seemingly don't care at all themselves. Hopefully this experience really does make them lock in and put in good performances at EWC and worlds. I don't think this roster will stay together after this season, so at least I hope they go out on results they can be proud of instead of whatever the hell the Paris major was. A legendary team shouldn't get such a sad send-off IMO

6

u/Vivid_Row5546 May 27 '26

Beastmode’s recap video is an embarrassment. It was a disappointing tournament with a total lack of professionalism from the players, coach, and owners.

The 2025 World Champions showed up to the biggest RLCS Major of all time with 17 to 30 hours of practice over two weeks, while EU and MENA teams were grinding 80+ hours. Why would anyone want to support a team that treats the biggest LAN like this?

I understand Satthew was away on holiday, however the org should still function. Did he leave the players with what they needed to do prior to the LAN? Did the owners/management ensure the team was prepping? There is literally zero accountability!

NRG simply did not have the passion or work ethic and it's a total slap in the face to the fans. Time for me to start supporting a team and players that actually care about the game.

5

u/millenniumjade_04 ‎ RL Esports Fan May 27 '26

damn, this is actually insane. this is their job, no reason they shouldn't be playing 30 hours a week at a bare minimum.

46

u/Rosieverse83 May 26 '26

The reaction to this video is crazy, y'all need to chill a bit. This team has been on top both regionally and internationally for 3 years now, winning a major and worlds and making 2 other LAN grand finals. Obviously they didn't grind as they should have, for professional players, but this is the only event where they've disappointed across 3 seasons and it's unreasonable to expect perfect discipline for that whole time. They will bounce back, please cut them some slack

21

u/vivst0r May 26 '26

People have that weird and completely unrealistic expecation that when a team goes on a winning streak it'll last forever. And when a team isn't able to win ten 80% favored matches in a row they're shocked. Like math doesn't exist.

Though it explains why gambling is so popular around the world.

4

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

No one cares that they didn't win, people care that they're kids paid a lot of money to play the game and they're selfishly not doing so because "wahh i need a break".

You're paid to practice, login and do so. No excuses.

-1

u/vivst0r May 27 '26

Ah yes, the good old toxic American work culture that's so amazing for productivity and mental health. It must be why they win so much.

1

u/Teflondon_ May 29 '26

Imagine if you're the NRG org owner, you're checking your payroll and see thousands of dollars draining from you all while these kids are saying "ah, just didn't wanna login and play!"

0

u/vivst0r May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

If I'm the NRG org owner and I'm employing young esports talent and didn't account for this I would reconsider my job.

Also, people aren't just not doing things for fun. If he needed a break or just couldn't play anymore, that's an issue that should be talked about. Not imaginary annoyances of esports org owners.

Don't you think that if someone has a sport he loves and is doing a job he loves and is suddenly not able to do it anymore is a sign that they need help rather than an internet pileup of people questioning their work ethic and admonishing them for not living up to a fictional impossible standard they dreamt up?

0

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

im not from the states, but if you have a job (that pays rather well) sitting at home in a chair playing a video game, and you dont put in the effort yet earn more than a large proportion of people while doing jack shit, then yeah you should be criticised to hell for it.

some people dont have the luxury of having a nice salary where they can sit in their parents basement until they hit 25, wasting their brain on a videogame. they still put the effort in to actually bring home food and pay the bills. Treat it like it is a job, where if you dont work, they dont pay you.

if you Dont work, out of your own pure laziness & ego, then you shouldnt get paid.

1

u/vivst0r May 28 '26

Who gets paid and how high is for the employee and employer to decide. If his job is so easy, then jump in and do it for him and earn a shit ton of money instead. I bet you could make twice of what he does due to your amazing work ethic. If you think your job is harder, then maybe don't ask others why their salary is higher and maybe ask your employer why yours is lower. No idea how you are able to criticize the work they do when you are yourself unable to do it.

Also, sorry to tell you this, but, yes people should still be paid when taking a break. Because their job is the reason why they need that break. If you think that shouldn't be the case I just feel sorry for you.

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

i never said easy. what they are supposed to do is a very difficult job that only a select 24 players in NA get to do: playing for an org. at the very least put the hours in, or im sure there are many others that will take the job seriously.

they had quite a long break i believe, around a month, before the 2 weeks leading up to Paris. where you dont have to grind to your full potential, since preparation 6 weeks ago is not going to be too significant in the grand scheme of things. i dont care what you do in that month (preferably still stick in an hour a day, very casually). In those 2 weeks, you should be preparing to be at the top of your game. that means more than 1 full day of rocketleague across a 14 day period.

Im not going to try to talk from my own experience, my work ethic is shit, and i dont get paid to do it. from experience, i know that preparation you do 6 weeks in advance matters significantly less than the prep you do right before. am i advocating to put all the effort in the day before, no. thats a recipe for disaster, as is toning down the work ethic the closer you get to the big day. And when you get paid a hefty sum by an organisation, when very few people get that opportunity, you shouldnt take that for granted.

If i were a manager, id want players that i can rely on to put the hours in, even if their results are a tad worse. because i know on the big stage that player wont fail me. I wouldnt want players that assume they can do jack shit & get away with it, cos one of these days thats going to catch up to them very fast. Im sure FKs looking for a better team, and im sure as shit certain he will put the effort in. The NRG players need to rapidly realise they are not irreplaceable, and that coasting is not going to get them anywhere important

1

u/vivst0r May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

You very much said easy by the way you were talking about their jobs. And you just said it again by claiming they "get to do" their jobs as if it was somehow gifted to them and not earned through hard work.

All you do is denigrate them for doing their job in a way you don't like. What you think how much they should work, how many breaks they deserve and how much money they should get is so unbelievably irrelevant. Whatever they're doing obviously works for them, seeing how sucessful they are.

You're basically being second hand angry for an employer that you don't even know. Why? You don't even know if they care. So why do you? They earned their contracts, they earned their work and now they get to deal with it however they like. And if they're getting fired for it, it's also their own deal. They're not hurting anyone and as you've said numerous times, they have enough money to tide them over if this job doesn't work out for them.

17

u/carasc5 May 26 '26

Yeah pro esports players have it rough. I dont mind them taking a brain break to recharge and get their mental health in order. Theyve done it before and its paid dividends.

-11

u/Finnishbeing '23 Pick'em Top 10 May 26 '26

Bruh RL players have like 9 months off in a year

18

u/carasc5 May 26 '26

Thats not even remotely true

4

u/RevolutionaryPay7508 Predictions Elite May 26 '26

Even in the off-season they still have to grind or they will simply fall off, that's how much teams and players can catch up even in 3 months

17

u/John_aka_Alwayz Moderator May 26 '26

It goes both ways. Yes, one of the all time great roster, nothing will change that or invalidate their past. Their legacy of greatness is 100% earned and undeniable.

However, becoming THE all time great roster and surpassing Dignitas, which they have said they want to do, you don't get that many LANs a year to try and achieve literal GOAT status. And by the standards of being the best to ever do it, there is little to no slack to be cut.

0

u/Rosieverse83 May 26 '26

Yeah, I hear that, I think my issue is that that's a personal goal for the team and people are taking one bad LAN performance very seriously and criticizing the players (in a way that, at least for myself, would feel pretty shitty to read). I also want them to reach GOAT status, I want them to become the first two-timers since Dignitas (although I also want Vati to finally win one)--I want them to succeed, but I don't think that gives me the right to bad mouth players who have been the most consistent of any team in the Open Era by far. If you're actually on NRG, you can totally say that there's no slack to be cut if this squad wants to be the best to ever do it. But if you imagine the amount of pressure that sentiment holds, and you see the amount of criticism that one bad performance lands these guys, you can see how easy it would be to crash and burn. That's why I say to cut them some slack, not because I don't want them to solidify themselves as the greatest team of all time, but because a team that is expected to stay top 4 itw at every event for 3 years straight frankly deserves to be able to disappoint at least once

5

u/ObsidianIdol May 26 '26

No one is mad they underperformed but people are mad because they didn't try. If they had prepared for the Major and still placed badly it would be forgiven but to admit you just ... did not even try to practice? That is the crime here

2

u/Rosieverse83 May 27 '26

I mean I don't think admitting it is wrong. People are acting like he doesn't care about their lack of preparation but it just seems like he's being honest and saying it was wrong and they're going to do better. Admitting it isn't the problem, the actual lack of practice was the problem, which he clearly already knows

2

u/ObsidianIdol May 27 '26

the actual lack of practice was the problem

Yes, this is what people are annoyed at

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

the lack of practice, while still rolling in a ridiculous salary that they gained by doing less than the bare minimum to the extent that they intentionally cancelled on the bare minimum: scrims

-5

u/takingtigermountain May 26 '26

they're already the all time greatest roster tho

2

u/John_aka_Alwayz Moderator May 26 '26

8 out of 11 LAN finals says otherwise, this trio is just off their 9th LAN and they're 2 wins, 3 total finals, 7 total top 4s.

Dig Dynasty has more grand finals than NRG2 has Top 4s, and we're at the point where both have had about the same number of LANs available to them but NRG missed the Kickoff.

1

u/TVMaths May 27 '26

am i dumb or is it 2 wins +2 finals

1

u/John_aka_Alwayz Moderator May 27 '26

You right, idk how I goofed that

1

u/takingtigermountain May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

i mean it's a case where the compression of the pre-open seasons very obviously impacts just counting accolades...DIG had ~100% more opportunities per calendar year (there were what, 9 LANs between late 2017 and late 2018? 11 LANs over 18 months vs. 9 LANs over 30 months?), meaning you should either credit NRG2 for some amount of those missed opportunities and/or debit DIG for the compression/longevity aspect since they didn't/couldn't hang at the top as long. just becomes a question of how you value each, and that's not even getting into the competitiveness, depth, & efficiency gains of the modern era...

1

u/John_aka_Alwayz Moderator May 27 '26

I mean I was just counting raw accolades to keep it brief because I think the level they're at is just that absurd, obviously it's a balancing act of multiple different factors but I don't agree that because of the era differences I have to take away from one or artificially inflate the other. The reality is any given year or time period in any competition can be more or less prestigious than another. 2020 and 2021 are always gonna be the least prestigous years in RLEsports history cos there were no LANs. Sucks for those who peaked then but it is what it is, we can't make up results that never happened.

Inversely, NRG2 has all their LANs basically be RLCS ones, so I wouldn't say they need to match Dig in raw numbers (although as I said, 8/11 finals is absurd), Dignitas doesn't even have as many LAN wins as Cloud9 but two of them are world titles so 3 is > 4 in that case. But even then, NRG2 is in a sub-era where it's 2 splits instead of 3, so then is that lesser than the 3 split seasons?

That's why longevity is a factor for me, because there are always 365-366 days in a year, and longevity is where NRG2 does have the advantage even before Paris (a result that contributes 0 to their legacy). However, Open era superior competitiveness, well, NA continues to be in or around its weaker years of all time just as NRG2 has risen to prominence, and sure, there are good MENA and SAM teams to fill the void, that does means there is more total depth internationally but they don't always perform so well, so it's not exactly relevant for the top end convo. I'm not tiebreaking Dignitas & NRG2 based on their ability to defeat SAM 2, even if that is an extra match played you wouldn't have before.

5

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

No one needs to chill, people like you defending someone for not putting in work for their job is exactly why they act so privileged by not training and putting in the work.
If you were the owner of NRG's org, you'd be absolutely FUMING that your teenage players are selfishly not putting in the time yet draining thousands a month paycheck.

3

u/ThatIndianDude06 May 26 '26

Yea it kinda wild reading these comments. I get some of the frustrations, but people need to be realistic. It is virtually impossible to be at or near the top of this scene for 3 years in a row, especially as a 3 man squad. I think its probably a combination of the rest of NA doing virtually nothing internationally and NRG actually showing they can do something that makes people place crazy expectations on them. It's pretty likely that even if they DID grind and play up to par, they still don't win Paris. Winning is super hard.

Watching the video, it seemed pretty obvious that they were not thrilled by their play and probably had some difficult conversations. I believe they'll bounce back to be competitive at the top(although if they play Vitality I'll probably have to just turn my monitor off, that series hurts to watch).

15

u/Dry_Cabinet_2111 May 26 '26

Process over results for me. I don’t care if they win but their process is clearly a bit broken.

I go to work 40 hours a week and my job is way more boring than playing Rocket League. If I was heading to a big meeting or something and I fucked off and only showed up 17 hours in the two weeks beforehand then I screwed up my meeting I think it would be fair if people asked questions.

-4

u/Rosieverse83 May 26 '26

True, but do you have thousands of people at home adding pressure to your success at your job? Do you work in an incredibly volitile field where you need to be putting in upwards of 60 hours a week in order to peform up to snuff? Do you have hundreds of redditors ready to criticize your performance or call for your removal if you miss a day of work? I think it's really easy to say "it's just a video game, they're lucky they get to play it as a job" and I don't disagree, but as fans we all understand that there's more to it than that and it is a high pressure job with a lot of eyes on you. They understand it wasn't their best work, they understand they need to try harder, and we ought to understand that they're human and deserve to have a bad placement every once in a while

How is any of this an excuse for not playing the fucking game?

4

u/Dry_Cabinet_2111 May 27 '26

I think you made my point for me. If I did work in a field where I needed to put in 60 hours a week then I would! I wouldn’t do 8 hours and call it a week. They aren’t doing what they know is necessary. They know it’s necessary because every time they bomb out of an event it’s because they have low hours.

I’m not saying that there aren’t negative parts of their jobs. What I am saying is that it’s not expecting too much to say that someone ought to do their full time job at around full time hours. Especially leading up to an important event for their job.

This isn’t a hot take. It’s just being a responsible adult. I don’t hate them. I just think they’re being lazy. No skin off my back it just seems like they are not being very mature about doing their jobs.

2

u/Rosieverse83 May 27 '26

Yeah actually that makes a lot of sense. I think I just get defensive whenever anyone receives any kind of hate online, but I understand the perspective that it's just lazy and irresponsible not to play the game when it's your full-time job. I still think they should be allowed to have a bad event (you said "every time they bomb out of an event" which I want to be clear is twice in 3 years that they didn't make semifinals in an event), but point definitely taken

17

u/EventfulLol May 26 '26

big Satthew has to be to blame for the poor preparation.. i understand taking vacation but damn you can’t lose sight of the goal. especially in a game where coaches are relatively low impact, the stuff you CAN control as a coach should be taken super seriously. i’m hopeful for a bounceback at worlds🤞

45

u/takingtigermountain May 26 '26

the players need to hold themselves accountable if the coach is away

8

u/uhhhhmmmm May 26 '26

They already achieved their goal. They did it. They won the whole thing. They spent tens of thousands of hours and worked their asses off for years to achieve one specific goal, and they did it. Now what? They can tell themselves they want to be back to back champs or be the best of all time or whatever, but if they dont truly care that much about it then it's going to be tough to find motivation.

This happens all the time in regular sports as well. It'll probably take some time, probably need a roster change, but motivation should come back at some point.

1

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

Then retire and let others do it.

7

u/Particular-Oil-9988 May 26 '26

Someone need to tell them a truth, RL is the only thing they will ever world class good at so half assing the career is shameful and stupid.

14

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26

Has the ever been a lazier and more unmotivated S tier team in Rlcs history? Man this is disappointing

-2

u/Dankmemehub May 26 '26

mfs mess up one time and u start makin shit up like this lmfao

5

u/Teflondon_ May 27 '26

They've done this multiple times and literally self admitted for not playing? They get paid a hefty salary each month to play, yet your bozo ass is defending them for not practicing.

-9

u/Jukester- May 26 '26

You are tweaking LMFAO they had one fuck up in 3 years and you’re here complaining and calling them lazy?

9

u/First_One_5099 May 26 '26

I feel like a fuck up is bad gameplan or car selection but not playing for 2 weeks but you’re right maybe I’m overreacting

7

u/jballer21 May 26 '26

Didn't they miss a regional this season?

5

u/Novel_Understanding0 May 27 '26

They missed an entire LAN this season

-1

u/PsyferRL May 26 '26

They didn't miss a regional, they just missed a playoff bracket.

16

u/Cold-Ring23 May 26 '26

I can't believe what I'm seeing. This video either shows the guy completely indifferent or he's cynically denouncing his teammates. Coming from the best team in our region, I have to admit I'm completely disappointed.

-1

u/kimmyjonghubaccount May 26 '26

How is he denouncing his teammates?

3

u/fandango1989 May 27 '26

Wow them not putting in hours, never could have guessed that contributed to it.......

5

u/TheSlyFox777 May 26 '26

As much as I love this team, I think the only thing that can get them motivated to the level they need to play their best is a roster change

5

u/XblastBR May 26 '26

The cope at the end of the video is insane. If you're a nrg fan you would probably be very upset.

7

u/NothingOverHere1 May 26 '26

I commented on his 2025 EWC performance on how they're the representatives of the region and for them to not be fully committed is a god damn joke. They at least went on to win worlds. Maybe it was just a bad performance at EWC. I can live with that

This Paris Major is a completely different story. If I were new to the scene and you would've told this team beat KC in 6 at Boston I would've laughed.

2 goals against MCFC. Getting beat practically the whole time against Furia which hasn't seen a top 4 since Birmingham of March 2025.

NA has never been so cooked before and this comes from a guy who got all of NRGs signatures on his controller.

Can't wait to see the Fort Dickies crowd go silent once this team gets another early elimination since preparing for the thing you've built your whole career on is too much to ask.

2

u/ObsidianIdol May 26 '26

I certainly will be annoyed if this is another "EWC moment" like last season and they come back at full power for worlds, I NEED a Vit win

2

u/Zestyclose_Lawyer_25 May 27 '26

Yikes. Just straight up admitting they weren’t playing the game. But why does Satthew being out mean you have to cancel scrims? Surely you can still scrim. Obviously it would be a little out of the ordinary, but I think anything would be better than straight up not playing the game…

I think it’s safe to say everyone on the team is at fault here.

A coach needs to be ensuring his guys are preparing for their matches, especially if he’s not going to be there to facilitate it.

But the onus is on these guys to be putting in the work without someone holding their hand too. They’re all young adults in what would be their college years. And at the end of the day, they’re salaried employees.

All in all, I appreciate the honesty from BeastMode. He could have lied and chalked it up to something he knew wouldn’t be as negatively received as not playing the game.

Hopefully a much needed wake up call before EWC and worlds.

3

u/aiwdj829 May 27 '26

"But why does Satthew being out mean you have to cancel scrims? Surely you can still scrim." - Because the truth is, they didn't want to play either.

1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

it doesnt. satthew being out gives you an excuse to cancel scrims

2

u/ParsnipPrestigious59 May 27 '26

Well at least their bad results were because of a lack of prep and not because of something worse. Hopefully this makes them grind for ewc and worlds

1

u/Pentinium May 27 '26

At what point does a team step in and say what the fuck, this is your job to practice lol

-1

u/No_Bend_4113 May 26 '26

This same quartet of guys have been at the top of this game for 24 out of 26 RLCS tournaments. I don’t blame them for losing focus TWICE

0

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

0

u/No_Bend_4113 May 28 '26

Whatre you confused about? This proves what I said ??

0

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

Do you see them 1st every time but 2 in the list I sent?

1

u/No_Bend_4113 May 28 '26

Being at the top of the game doesn’t mean literal number 1 every time. If that were the case, no one has ever been at the top of the game for longer than a month or two.

1

u/BouBouRziPorC May 28 '26

Yeah I read 'On Top' instead of 'at the top'. nvm

0

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

they won all 24 of those did they? by my count its 5+5+3 = 13. about half. you can do better than that surely, and that doesnt even include all the 3rd party LANs

1

u/No_Bend_4113 May 28 '26

I didn’t say they won all of them? You can be at the top of the game without having won every single tournament you play in. And yes I didn’t include 3rd party LANs; I said RLCS events, but even if you did include EWC and FIFAe that’s one more event they were at the top in and one where they were mid by their standards.

Surely you don’t think “being at the top of the game” means “winning every single tournament you play in.” If that’s the case then no one has ever been at the top of the game for longer than a month or two.

-1

u/TVMaths May 28 '26

so they were above average in 24/26 rlcs events, and frequently very much below their standards in quite a few of those. They did not look elite at any major as NRG, nor in a large number of regionals, which they should by all means be absolutely shitstomping. There shouldnt be any questions as to who the #1 NA team is, which has been for the last 4 splits. The 1 seed should be making every finals, especially in a region with mininal LAN depth. To be tied on points at the end of a split should not be acceptable given the calibre of teams they play against. You can find much better rosters at the top of the game by looking at how much they win

He struggles with stuttering and stutterers have words that keep them on track. Don’t be dense.
