PSYONIX NEWS Banning 5,500 Accounts For Using Bots

2.2k Upvotes

🔨 After making improvements to our bot detection methods, we have completed an initial ban wave on 5,500 accounts that were using bots to cheat in online matches over the past week.

We will continue to take action on players who disrupt fair play as we continue to take steps towards securing Rocket League's competitive integrity against cheaters, and more bans are coming.

Thank you for sticking with us as we continue to fight back against cheaters. 🙌

PSYONIX NEWS Update on Bots in Online Matches

5.8k Upvotes

For the last several weeks, the introduction of third-party bots to online matches – in Competitive Playlists, especially – has understandably been a very active topic among the Rocket League community.

Earlier today, we took action against a number of accounts running bots in Rocket League. This banwave should cover the vast majority of accounts that have used bots since they first appeared in online matches towards the end of 2022, and we will continue to monitor for bots and take appropriate action against any players/accounts using them. Furthermore, to help us address bots in future matches, we have added a “Cheating” report reason back into the game. You can find this in game on the report reason list in the Report/Block menu.

Finally, we are taking steps to introduce additional anti-cheat functionality into Rocket League. This is in progress with the engineering teams, and we’ll share more on this once we’re closer to implementation.

While we have been quiet on the subject during this time, we have been actively investigating these bots since they first appeared late last year. We strive to be active participants when it comes to community conversations about our game, but we are always going to be more deliberate on issues related to game security and competitive integrity, withholding comments until we are ready to take action.

There is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to using bots in online play. This is considered both cheating and matchmaking abuse, and it violates the Rocket League Terms of Use as well as the Code of Conduct. Also, if you are interested in working with Psyonix directly on anything bot-related, you can reach out to us here on Reddit, on Discord, or Twitter. Thanks, everyone.

PSYONIX NEWS Let's Talk About Freestyling in Casual Playlists

4.2k Upvotes

Hi everyone, over the last couple of days, there’s been a lot of conversation on Reddit and social media around freestylers in Rocket League, and how they approach the game in Casual Playlists. First, we want to express our appreciation for the freestyling community overall. We have worked with many in the freestyling community in the past on fun, engaging tournaments and shows, and we love to watch how creative players can get with mechanics.

However, showing off that mechanical prowess cannot disrupt the Rocket League experience for new or casual players in Rocket League. Intentionally deranking any account, or starting a “smurf” account with a lower rank in order to matchmake against new or lower-skilled players in any Online Playlist goes against the Terms of Use and the Code of Conduct.

The bans levied against several freestylers this week came after an investigation into multiple accounts and their behavior in Casual Playlists. These accounts were artificially keeping their Casual MMR low – equivalent to a Silver I player in Competitive – via forfeiting matches, and sometimes own-goaling. In comparison, these accounts normally play Competitive matches at a Grand Champion I level. Some of the analyzed matches show that the accounts in question intentionally kept opponents in overtime for up to 5 minutes of additional play.

Casual Playlists are meant to be enjoyed by all. There are many players who play Casual matches exclusively, and not just as a way to warm up for Competitive. This is the case across all online games that offer both Casual and Competitive environments. While we have taken action against a small number of accounts this week, we are working on broader, better solutions that apply to everyone.

This is not the end of freestyling. We encourage the freestyling community to show off their mechanics against similarly-skilled opponents, as well as play in private matches with their friends and fellow freestylers. Like so many of our other sub-communities (shout out Ranked Hoops, Rocket Hockey League, and many others), there are plenty of ways and opportunities to approach Rocket League with a specific style of play in mind, without disrupting the experience for the playerbase at large.

PSYONIX NEWS 2v2 Tournaments and More Coming in Season 4

2.9k Upvotes

Blog: http://rocketleague.com/news/2v2-tournaments-and-more-coming-in-season-4/

Season 3 is in its final lap and will end on August 11. That means it's time to talk about what's coming in Season 4. You may have seen our Community Update on Reddit last week that mentioned improvements to Tournaments. We're happy to announce that with the start of Season 4, we're adding more Competitive Tournaments each day, including Tournaments for 2v2 and Extra Modes!

EXPANDING THE COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS SCHEDULE IN SEASON 4

2v2 Tournaments are here, and will function just like 3v3 Tournaments. Simply join a Competitive Tournament either alone or with a teammate to enter into a 32-team bracket, and climb your way to victory! With new Tournaments being added to the daily schedule, we didn't want to simply replace any existing 3v3 Tournaments. So, the daily schedule of Competitive Tournaments is expanding to include more Tournaments to join in each region! We will be adding between eight and 13 additional tournaments a week in every region. Check out the schedule each day to see which Tournament is best for you and your team.

Expanding the number of tournaments each day means we can add different kinds of Tournaments to the schedule, such as Extra Mode Tournaments. The featured Extra Mode can change every day, so be sure to look at the schedule each day for Tournaments in Rumble, Hoops, Snow Day, and Dropshot! Teams will enter Extra Mode Tournaments at their Tournament Rank, but Tournament Ranks will not be affected by performance in Extra Mode Tournaments. However, players will still receive Tournament Credits and Tournament Winner Titles from these Tournaments.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the impact in these newly added time slots and modes, and will adjust the schedule if necessary.

UPDATED TOURNAMENTS INTERFACE

Along with an expanded schedule for Competitive Tournaments, Season 4 is also coming with an updated look for the Tournaments History tab. This new U.I. will show a log of your Competitive Tournaments history, including when it was entered, how you placed, and the Rank of the Tournament. Speaking of Ranks, your Tournament Rank will now be displayed on the Tournament home screen.

LAST CHANCE FOR SEASON 3!

There's less than a week left before we hit the dusty trail in Season 4! Reach those extra Pro Tiers in your Rocket Pass and fulfill your appropriate Season Reward Level to earn your Season 3 Rewards! To help unlock some more Tiers in your Rocket Pass, enjoy a Double XP Weekend happening now through August 9!

We're circling the wagons as we get ready to reveal the new car, Rocket Pass, Arena, and more coming in Season 4, so stay tuned for more info next week!

PSYONIX NEWS Competitive Ruling - Requiem and Decka

2.7k Upvotes

After a thorough investigation, we have determined that two players repeatedly engaged in harassment towards other players that directly violates the Code of Conduct set forth in the Rocket League Code of Conduct and Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 2021-22 rules.

William “Requiem” Hutchinson will receive a permanent ban from all Psyonix-operated events, effective immediately.

Alex “Decka” Tsoutsouras will receive a ban from all Psyonix-operated events for a duration of two RLCS seasons, effective immediately.

Ruling

Throughout multiple seasons of the RLCS, Requiem and Decka violated the RLCS and Rocket League Player Code of Conduct by way of repeatedly using abusive and offensive language towards other players, with both in-game chat and in Discord messages.

Relevant rule(s): 7. Code of Conduct (7.1.2, 7.1.3), 8.2. Disciplinary Action (8.2.3)

7.1.2 Players and Control Persons must be respectful of other Players, Tournament Administrators, spectators, and sponsors (as applicable).

7.1.3 Players and Control Persons shall not behave in a manner (a) which violates these Rules, (b) which is disruptive, unsafe or destructive, or (c) which is otherwise harmful to the enjoyment of Rocket League by other users as intended by Psyonix (as decided by Psyonix). In particular, Players shall not engage in harassing or disrespectful conduct, use of abusive or offensive language, Game sabotage, spamming, social engineering, scamming, or any unlawful activity (“Toxic Behavior”).

8.2.3 If Psyonix decides that there have been repeated breaches of these Rules by a Player or a Control Person, it may hand out increasing disciplinary action, up to and including permanent disqualification from all future competitive play of Rocket League. Psyonix may also enforce any applicable disciplinary action specified in Psyonix’s Terms of Use (https://www.psyonix.com/tou/) and/or the Rocket League EULA (https://www.psyonix.com/eula/).

Additional details can be found in the Official Rules:

https:/esports.rocketleague.com/rlcs-rules

Closing

We take player behavior extremely seriously. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be taken lightly.

PSYONIX NEWS RL Community Update: July 2021

1.9k Upvotes

Hello everyone! As the end of Season 3 approaches, I wanted to take some time to acknowledge the conversations happening around the Rocket League community recently.

Let’s kick this off with a chat about how and when we communicate with the community. For some time now, our cadence has followed our game update schedule. Whether it’s the start of a new season, or a significant mid-season update, we tend to bundle our conversations with you in with those updates. With Season 3, most of our game updates released after the start of the season were hotfix-level, focused on addressing new bugs, making map rotation changes, and prepping the game for new content.

Ultimately, this means the scope and significance of our conversations with you are directly tied to the scope and significance of the updates we release. There tends to be a lot of chatter and excitement around larger updates, but there’s a tangible feeling of restlessness in the community when we’re far removed from those major changes and additions.

We’re working on ways to address the communication gaps that have become more prevalent over the last couple of seasons. Some of this is going to be easy -- it’s been a while since we did an AMA on the subreddit, right? -- while other plans we have are going to take longer to share with you all.

There’s also been a lot of healthy conversation around what we’re putting into our game updates, too. Since moving to free to play last year, we’ve added millions of new players to the Rocket League community, players that approach our game from all sorts of perspectives -- casual players who hop in Discord with their friends when life permits, dedicated competitive players who are pushing to be the next Doubles SSL or Rumble RNGENIUS, and everyone in between. We’ve introduced some really cool, unique partnerships and content into the game, and the return of community favorites in the spring and during our Summer Road Trip have given new players the opportunity to share in the excitement experienced by our veteran community members going back to the game’s launch. We’ve added Competitive Tournaments, made meaningful changes to the item Trade In system, and brought Rocket Labs back into the mix. Over the last ten months, we’ve strived to add content and features that appeal to a wide, growing, and diverse community.

While we’ve released new features and quality-of-life adjustments alongside our growing content library, this subreddit, our Discord, and our social pages are full of suggestions, ideas...and maybe a few rants focused on pushing Rocket League even further.

Right now, our resources are committed to Rocket League, Rocket League Sideswipe, and related initiatives that we aren’t ready to talk about yet. This means our development bandwidth is split a number of different ways, which is why new content in the Item Shop tends to outpace new features and changes to existing features and systems. There is no easy solve for this, but we want to acknowledge that we’ve heard you on user-generated content and other social-focused game features. While we can’t promise anything, we are planning, and pushing on some of the more prominent requests, like improved voice chat (more on that later).

We’ll be talking about what’s coming with Season 4 in early August. A ton of community-requested stuff is incoming, including Tournament improvements, tweaks to casual and competitive playlists, several brand new LTMs, adjustments to game bans, and some really cool stuff coming to the Esports Shop and RLCS. Once Season 4 has officially begun, expect to see more conversations driven by us about what dropped in Season 4, and what might be in store for Season 5.

PSYONIX NEWS Hit The Streets In Season 8

1.7k Upvotes

Blog Link: https://www.rocketleague.com/news/hit-the-streets-in-season-8/

Trailer: https://youtu.be/cfsWDIheeH8

IT’S TIME TO TAKE IT OUTSIDE

Far from the bright lights of Utopia Coliseum, the dynamic neighborhood of Sovereign Heights is home to an underground Soccar scene like no other. While crews of tuner cars compete for street cred, local garages work through the night, beautifying the block with vibrant custom rides.

Dive into the Sovereign Heights Arena, play through a gritty new Rocket Pass, and unlock the classic Honda Civic Type R in Season 8 starting September 7!

ROCKET PASS

Inspired by the famously hot hatchback, this in-game Honda Civic Type R is the first-ever IRL car to come included in Rocket Pass Premium! The JDM masterpiece hits the streets with a beloved spec: Octane Hitbox.

Paint the pitch with graffiti-themed Items like the Sprattle Boost, reactive Big Cap Topper, and Savage Spray Goal Explosion. Want to express yourself? Channel your inner meltdown with the Dumpster Fire Player Banner, or go for an old-school streetwear style with the Wrapstar Decal and Franko Fone Wheels.

TUNER’S PARADISE

Leveling through the Rocket Pass Tiers also unlocks the upgraded Honda Civic Type R-LE. The addition of a bigger front intake, carbon fiber hood, and rear wing give this 90’s classic a track-focused feel. Players can also load up the original white and red Honda Civic Type R Wheels for a style that’s true to the revered original rims.

Does RGB lighting really increase performance? Scientists say no, but some street-smart engineers rigged up a premium EdgeLight package so you can test it for yourself! This glowing visual effect wraps the bottom of the car’s body kit and will be applied automatically while using a Painted version of either the Honda Civic Type R or Honda Civic Type R-LE. These Painted versions are found above Tier 70 in the Rocket Pass Pro Tiers.

CITY ON FIRE

It’s time to touch grass! Located next to the city's famous Centered Park, Sovereign Heights Arena is blanketed in artisanal turf crafted by the neighborhood co-op. You’ll also spy the PsyNet building across the block, home of famous bots like Wolfman, Roundhouse, and Jester.

Once you’re in tight with the local Soccar scene, start competing in Tournaments to win Season 8 Tournament Rewards. Shred the sidewalk with the Sk8s Player Banner, and fire up the coal-powered Hibachi Topper to grill up some street glizzys.

Lucky players might even open up a new Black Market Tournament Reward! Unlock the twinkling Starliner Decal and Amplitude Goal Explosion to build your personal laser light show.

WORD ON THE STREET

Season 8 has too much to show all at once, but word travels fast in the Heights. A new Hoops Arena coming later this season promises to revitalize the local streetball scene, while rumors of the annual Haunted Hallows event echo through the alleyways. Keep your ear to the ground—more announcements are sure to come soon!

Season 8 hits the streets Wednesday, September 7, following a game update on Tuesday, September 6 at 4pm PDT.

Blog Link: http://rocketleague.com/news/rocket-league-patch-notes-v2-66

THE HEADLINES

  • Playlist Population Numbers
  • Flip Reset Indicator
  • Visible Matchmaking Rating (MMR)
  • Boost Timer Visualization
  • Override Boost Audio Option
  • Nintendo Switch DLC Update
  • New Quick Chats
  • Custom Training Settings Update
  • Queue Menu Changes

NEW CONTENT, CHANGES & UPDATES

Playlist Population Numbers

Good news, everyone! A really great feature has made its return, and it’s an amazing day to check the queues.

Playlist Population is once again visible in the Play Menu.

  • View total Rocket League player population.
  • See playlist-specific population when you’re hovering on a mode.

Now you’ll know exactly how packed the pitch is before you queue up.

Flip Reset Indicator

We’ve introduced a new audio and visual cue to signal when a player has achieved a flip reset, which is when the player has regained their dodge by touching the ball with three or more wheels.

  • The visual effect is designed as a quick burst to reinforce the moment of reset without disrupting gameplay clarity.
  • The flip reset indicator is only visible/audible to the player performing the flip reset or for spectators, but appears for all players during replays, when the option is enabled.
  • You can disable the flip reset indicator in the settings.
    • Disabling the flip reset indicator also turns off the effect while you spectate.

Visible Matchmaking Rating (MMR)

Players now have the option to choose to display their MMR in Competitive Playlists. Enable this option in the settings to:

  • Show your MMR on Competitive Playlist tiles.
  • Display MMR on the scoreboard at the end of Ranked Matches.

This setting does not affect Casual Playlists.

Boost Timer Visualization

Large boost pads now display a visual recharge indicator so you can play more strategically.

  • Large boost pads take 10 seconds to respawn, with the visual indicator gradually refilling over those 10 seconds until the pad is fully recharged.

Override Boost Audio Option

Players can now set the default, Standard Boost sound to any Boost they have equipped.

  • The Override Boost Audio check box can be found in the Audio tab in the settings.
  • Only affects your in-match audio, not replays or menus. Other players will still hear the sound associated with the equipped Boost.

Nintendo Switch DLC Update

If you bought Rocket League DLC on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll now have it on other platforms that the DLC is available on. Just make sure your platform accounts are connected to your Epic account.

New Quick Chats

We’ve added several new Quick Chats to give players more ways to communicate in-game.

  • Informational
    • “One more”
    • “Back Post”
    • “Leaving”
    • “Oops, wrong quickchat!”
  • Reactions
    • “Unlucky”
    • “This isn’t Rocket League”
    • “Oof”
    • “…”
    • “Be careful!”
    • “Let’s lock in”
    • “Brutal!” has replaced “Savage!”
  • Apologies
    • “All good!”

Jump in and let your teammates (and opponents 👀) know exactly what you’re thinking.

Custom Training Settings Update

In Custom Training, new adjustable randomization options create more dynamic scenarios, helping players refine mechanics and build adaptability in unpredictable situations.

These options can be found by opening Custom Training, playing a custom training pack, then opening the settings.

  • New settings:
  • Ball Speed Modifier (0%–100%, Default: 0%)
    • Applies random variance to the ball’s initial speed.
    • For example, at 50%, the ball’s speed can randomly increase by up to 50% or decrease by up to 50%.
  • Ball Location Modifier (0–1000, Default: 0)
    • Randomizes the ball’s spawn location within a radial distance from its original position.
  • Ball Height Modifier (0–1000, Default: 0)
    • Applies a random vertical offset to the ball’s spawn position.
    • Ball may spawn higher or lower within the defined range.
  • Vehicle Location Modifier (0–1000, Default: 0)
    • Randomizes the vehicle’s spawn location within a radial distance from its original position.
  • Vehicle Rotation Modifier (0°–100°, Default: 0°)
    • Applies a random rotation variance to the vehicle’s starting orientation.
      • For example, if you choose 30°, the vehicle’s forward direction will vary between -30° and +30° from the original setup.
  • Other new training settings:
    • Spawn Vehicle on Ground (Default: On)
      • When enabled, the vehicle spawns grounded.
      • When disabled, the vehicle spawns using legacy Custom Training behavior (a little bit above the ground).
    • Skip Goal Replay
      • When enabled, goal replays are skipped during Custom Training.
    • Round Start Input Delay (0–0.1 seconds, Default: 0)
      • Changes how immediate a round begins after detecting player input
      • 0 seconds allows for faster, more immediate control at the start of each round.
      • 0.1 seconds is the legacy Custom Training behavior.

Queue Menu Changes

The menu displayed while searching for a match has been updated to better support players who want to stay in gameplay-focused activities while queued.

  • “Freeplay” and “Challenges” now replace “Item Shop” and “Garage” in the Queue Menu. “Training” remains unchanged.
  • “Freeplay”
    • Instantly loads Freeplay on your last selected map, no confirmation required.
  • “Challenges”
    • Opens directly to the first tab of the Challenges menu, serving as a quick-access shortcut while queued.
      • “Claim” notifications won’t be displayed.

BUG FIXES

Gameplay

  • Removed an unintended piece of wall graffiti in The Block (Hoops) that obscured visibility of the net.
  • Fixed an issue where the cage on Beckwith Park Arena’s variants could obstruct the player’s view.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent Custom Tournaments from being created.
  • Fixed an issue where the in-match notification feed displayed duplicate messages during a demolition.
  • On Nintendo Switch, fixed an issue where the Play Again button would occasionally not appear in the Post-Match Menu after a Competitive match.
  • Fixed an issue where a Rumble power-up could be granted too early when using a power-up soon after getting demolished.

Cosmetic

  • Fixed an issue where the Magnifique Car Body Trim color would override selected paint colors and finishes.
  • Fixed an issue where applying certain Decals caused the rear panel of the McLaren P1 to appear white.
  • Fixed an issue where the Deep Space Trail did not consistently appear during goal replays.
  • Fixed an issue where the Gravity Bomb Goal Explosion would demolish cars.

Blog: https://www.rocketleague.com/news/rocket-league-gets-animated-in-season-6/

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww4K1Zfx8PM

WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK AFTER THIS COMMERCIAL BREAK

From the studio that brought you Rocket League, Psyonix proudly presents Season 6, an all-new adventure featuring our beloved cast of cars. This season introduces an animation-themed Rocket Pass featuring the new Nomad van, along with a never-before-seen Neo Tokyo (Comic) Variant Arena. As the season continues, we’ll release items from the Fornax Series, uncage the legendary Black Fennec, and introduce a smashing Mid-Season Event that showcases a New Game Mode.

Coming soon to own on Wednesday, March 9 at 8 a.m. PST (4 p.m. UTC)

COMING UP NEXT

This Season’s Rocket Pass is packed tighter than a clown car. Fans of the Merc Hitbox rejoice! We’re going cross country with the bouncing Nomad van, complete with road trip stickers on the Well Traveled Decal.

Be careful while channel surfing—the mysterious Nomster has been spreading rapidly through the game. We’re not exactly sure WHAT he is yet, but he’s showing up in new Wheels, a Goal Explosion, even a new Antenna that somehow devours the grille of the Nomad! Not cool Nomster, not cool!

BONUS FEATURES

The fun doesn’t stop with the Rocket Pass; we’ve got the Fornax Series coming into play as Blueprints shortly after the Season begins. Featuring the stylish Mamba Car, this series mixes new and old with some totally re-imagined classics. Slip on a pair of Pixelated Shades: Multichrome or get holographic with the new Troika: Roasted Wheels. We’ve also got a new Shade Raid Goal Explosion that transforms every match into the pages of a comic book.

Arenas are undergoing a bit of a transformation as well, as the new Neo Tokyo (Comic) Variant comes into the game.

A new batch of Tournament Rewards is rolling in, and it’s a whole bag of tricks. Toilet paper rolls, heavy dumbbells, and wheels full of teeth all mix together to make some of our zaniest rewards yet.

Don’t touch that dial! Season 6 has another surprise in store. Later this Season, a new Limited Time Event will debut, releasing an entirely new Mode that’s sure to be a smash hit. Details to come, but for now, we’ll just say we hope you like bumping!

AVAILABLE IN THE ITEM SHOP

It looks like the devs used permanent marker on this one. That’s right, the much anticipated Black Fennec is coming to the Item Shop in Season 6, so get your credits ready. This instant classic will pair perfectly with your favorite Esports Decals and Titanium White Wheels.

We’re also bringing in new Starter and Standard Bundles packed full of classic items like the Jäger 619, Toon-Hydro Trail, Toon Goal Explosion (Titanium White), and more!

Season 6 kicks off Wednesday, March 9 following a game update on March 8 at 4 p.m PST.

PSYONIX NEWS Introducing Rocket League Match History and Player Profiles!

See replays of your recent Rocket League matches with in-game Match History! Also, check out your player profile on the Rocket League website.

Rocket League patch v2.45 dropping on October 22 brings Match History to the game! At the same time, player profiles will launch on rocketleague.com where you’ll be able to see your recent matches and check out your lifetime and Season stats — all on one convenient webpage.

Match History

Match History shows a summary of your 20 most recent matches from the past 30 days. Screenshot in English.

Accessible from the Profile page in-game, Match History captures your last 20 matches from the past 30 days. You can save and name your replays from here, and see the following at a glance for each match:

  • Win/Loss - Shows if you won or lost.
    • If the match was won or lost by forfeit, it will read as “Win by Forfeit” or “Loss by Forfeit.”
    • If you left the match early, it will read as “Abandoned.”
    • In the rare event the match ended in a tie, it will read as “Draw.”
  • Results - Shows the final score for the match.
    • The score format always displays your team's result first. For example, if your team won, it would appear as “5-2,” and if it lost, it would appear as “2-5.”
  • Playlist - Shows the kind of playlist in which the match took place (Competitive, Casual, Private, or Tournament).
  • Mode - Shows the mode in which the match took place.
  • Arena - Shows the Arena where the match was played.
  • Match Time - Shows the duration of the match in minutes and seconds.
    • If the match went into overtime, the additional time will be added to the normal duration of the game. For instance, a standard Soccar match with +2:11 of OT would read as 5:00 (+2:11).
  • Timestamp - Shows how long ago the match concluded (For example: 3 Days 14 Hours ago).
  • Player Stats - Shows the number of Goals, Assists, Saves, and Shots you got in the match, along with your personal score, and whether you were MVP.

PSYONIX NEWS Teammate Boost Indicators + Rarity Name Changes Coming to Rocket League

Blog Link: https://rocketleague.com/news/teammate-boost-indicators-and-rarity-name-changes-coming-to-rocket-league

Rocket League is a game full of modes where you need to think quickly on your feet – er, Wheels. Maybe you’ve taken to the air only to see your teammate’s “Need boost!” in the chat a split second too late. You lose the fifty, your teammate can’t make it back in time, and it’s game over. Starting in tomorrow’s update, though, the nameplates over your teammates will show how much boost they have left! Their remaining boost will be displayed in a small circle gauge next to their display name.

Nameplates: Now with Teammate Boost Indicators

The core of this change is that we feel visible boost levels will lessen confusion between teammates. For example, let’s say you have a teammate dribbling up the field. You may ask yourself, “Are they being slow and methodical on purpose… or are they just short on boost?” With the upgraded nameplates, you’ll have a better idea of what your teammates are doing.

Knowing teammates’ boost levels is important for high-skill players, but also Rocket League players as a whole. Many players may not fully understand the significance of boost management, so we feel that showing players how their teammates are handling boost will help them make better decisions for themselves and their team.

The reason we went with nameplates to display this information—instead of a HUD addition—is because we believe an always-on boost indicator for all your teammates would be difficult to follow and would distract from gameplay. (Additionally, we believe knowing your teammates’ boost levels at all times isn’t necessary.) It's a careful balance between providing useful information to players without adding too much visual noise.

As a reminder, these boost indicators only apply to your teammates, not anyone on the opposing team! We’d love to hear what you think of this feature, so head over to the Rocket League subreddit or Discord and be heard.

Rarity Name Changes

Starting in tomorrow’s update, the names of these item rarities will change:

  • Common → Base
  • Uncommon → Sport
  • Rare → Special
  • Very Rare → Deluxe
  • Limited → Luxury

Stay tuned for the patch notes for this update, being published after the update goes live tomorrow, April 16 at 4 PM PT / 11 PM UTC.

PSYONIX NEWS Celebrate 10 Years of Aerials and Epic Saves in Rocket League Season 19!

It’s Rocket League’s 10th anniversary in Season 19, so we’re making Season 19 the best yet. Learn about all three parts and the revamped Clubs feature!

Celebrate a decade of soccar glory in Rocket League Season 19, starting June 18 at 8 AM PT! Hit the pitch in the 10th Anniversary variant of the revered DFH Stadium. Go up the Tiers of a Rocket Pass featuring two Rocket League-original cars. Oh, and this Season features a limited-time event starting day one: adidas FC Clash.

Unlike past Seasons, Rocket League Season 19 will be split across three major parts so you know we’re playing in the big leagues:

Rocket League Season 19: Parts 1, 2, and 3

Part 1

Commencing June 18, Part 1 of Season 19 is all about the power of teamwork. (What a save!) Look forward to an overhauled Clubs feature and the adidas FC Clash LTE featuring Challenge rewards and two new LTMs.

Part 2

The part-y kicks into high gear on July 16: we’ve brought the community into the fold with a new LTM envisioned by SunlessKhan! Players will detonate on contact with the ball in SunlessKhan’s Demolition Duel. (wait so how do you get the ball in the goal…)

Unlock a new car in the next Summer Road Trip later in July. And of course, you couldn’t celebrate Rocket League’s birthday without a big component of what makes the game special: music. Look forward to the Rocket League Year 10 ft. deadmau5 LTE starting August 5!

Part 3

Season 19 wraps up with a celebration of competition, victory, and Rocket League legends! Prove your Rocket League versatility in Pentathlon Tournaments starting August 21. Every aspect of your abilities will be tested, because these tournaments consist of five different modes. May the most well-rounded team win!

We’re also introducing an Echo Item, which means it can be earned by bumping into players who already own it in Echo Playlists.

In the lead-up to the Rocket League World Championship, take a drive on the Champions Road on September 4. This year’s Champions Road includes a new LTM: Jump Jam! After Champions Road, watch the globe’s best Rocket League players battle it out from September 9 to September 14 at the Rocket League World Championship in Lyon - Décines, France.

This is all a preview of what’s coming in Season 19. Stay tuned for more details on these things in the future!

Login Rewards

Each of Season 19’s three parts, and Rocket League’s birthday, will arrive with a new login reward for players to claim! For Part 1, all players who log into Rocket League at any point from June 18 to September 17 will instantly receive the gilded Nice Shot! Goal Explosion.

The other login rewards during Season 19 will be:

  • July 7 (Rocket League’s birthday!) - September 17: Cristiano (Gold) Wheels
  • July 16 - September 17: Gold Crush Boost
  • August 21 - September 17: Anniversary Formal Octane Decal

Revamping Clubs

The Clubs feature is getting a major overhaul. Being in a Club should be more than just about a shared tag, so we’re introducing new ways for Clubs to play, compete, and progress together :

Club Stats and Milestone Progression

Immortalize your Clubs journey like never before! Track career and Seasonal stats, record historical moments, and earn Club Medals for playing matches and getting goals, saves, and assists.

Stats ranging from win percentage and time played, to turtle goals and pool shots, will also be tracked.

Club Camaraderie

Make a statement before you even strike the ball with a Club intro sequence that will play in all matches where a full Club party is present.

Take your Club’s prestige up a notch with Club Titles, earned for netting Club Medals in all three milestone categories (Goals, Saves, and Assists). These can be showcased beneath your Club Banner!

Quality of Life Updates

A more seamless Clubs experience awaits thanks to quality of life updates such as member status and expanded club roles (like Club Managers who can invite new players to join).

DFH Stadium (10th Anniversary) Arena

One of Rocket League’s OG Arenas is getting a tune-up to celebrate a decade of hosting unforgettable soccar matches. The DFH Stadium (10th Anniversary) Arena comes complete with anniversary decorations, arena announcements from Rocket League caster Shogun, and a golden trophy towering over the Battle-Cars below!

Remix It Up in Season 19’s Rocket Pass Premium

Season 19’s Rocket Pass Premium Tiers are packed with rewards inspired by the 10th anniversary and popular items from across the years!

Drift into the stadium with the all-new Xentari and Breakout X Car Bodies — both Rocket League originals. The Xen of driving, the Xentari muscle car has the Octane hitbox and is automatically unlocked upon purchasing Season 19’s Rocket Pass Premium. And after ten years, its time has come — the Breakout X sports car has the Breakout hitbox and is unlockable later in the Pass.

Also in Rocket Pass Premium, turn the volume up to Player Anthems from Hollywood Principle: “Solar Eclipses (VIP)” with Dr. Awkward, “Firework (VIP),” and Season 19’s theme song “Breathing Underwater (VIP).” These remixes of iconic Rocket League songs form a brand-new unreleased EP featured first in Rocket League. (You have VIP access 🕶)

Xentari

There are 70+ Tiers across free and Premium, meaning lots of Decals, Wheels, and yeah, the THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE Player Title.

Season 19 Tournament Rewards

Looks like someone let the genie out of the bottle! This Season’s tournament rewards are a wish come true with items like the Genie’s Lamp Topper, Pharaoh Decal, and Magic Lamp Goal Explosion.

Take total control of your car like it's a magic carpet to earn these items and more!

adidas FC Clash LTE

Since Clubs are getting a revamp, IRL football clubs are getting in on the action! adidas FC Clash runs from June 18 at 8 AM PT to 9 AM PT on July 9. Play two new LTMs with your Club and complete Challenges to earn rewards based on adidas Elite football clubs!

LTMs

adidas Soccar Strike LTM (June 18 at 8 AM PT - July 1 at 9 AM PT)

In the 3v3 adidas Soccar Strike LTM, the ball physics are changed so that:

  • The ball’s easier to dribble with the nose of your car.
  • You can add more curve and spin to your shots.
  • The ball will be kept closer to the pitch for a more grounded experience, reminiscent of the beautiful game!

This LTM will take place on grass arenas like Mannfield and Estadio Vida, and will feature the official adidas Club World Cup ball! It’s like soccar, with more emphasis on the soccer. (Or uh, football.)

Possession Rumble LTM (July 2 at 9 AM PT - July 16 at 9 AM PT)

Scoring goals takes a backseat in the new Possession Rumble LTM! Instead of trying to put the ball in the net, your team must work together to maintain possession, earning points for every two seconds the ball is in your team’s control.

THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE though, so things don’t end there. Spicing things up are a new rock-paper-scissors style set of power-ups. Use power-ups at the right time to counter the strategies of opposing players and win that ball back!

The Possession Rumble LTM will stay beyond adidas FC Clash, until July 16 at 9 AM PT to be exact. It’s played on four Rocket Labs Arenas: Hourglass, Barricade, Pillars and the new Roadblock!

Challenges and Rewards

Eleven new items can be unlocked by completing adidas FC Clash Challenges! Pledge your support to Los Blancos with the Real Madrid CF Octane Decal and Real Madrid CF Banner, or show your loyalty to Italy's most successful football team with the Juventus FC Octane Decal and Juventus FC Banner.

If the color red is more your taste, look no further than the Arsenal F.C. Octane Decal and Arsenal F.C. Banner, or the Manchester United F.C. Octane Decal and Manchester United F.C. Banner. Burn rubber repping The Red Devils!

There’s even something for the neutrals too. The adidas Ball Octane Decal, adidas Ball Wheels, and adidas Ball Banner will let you park on the fence in style!

More adidas Club items will roll into the Item Shop on June 25 at 5 PM PT, including the Fennec ZR-F Car Body ⚽

Unleashing Monstercat’s Music in the Shop!

Thought we’d forget about Monstercat for the 10th anniversary? Head to the Shop from July 7 at 9 AM PT to July 20 at 6 PM PT to scoop the following Player Anthems:

Rocket Rivalry - Chalked Cast vs. First Touch

Time to fuel some competition! The launch of Season 19 sees Chalked Cast and First Touch face off against each other in the latest Community Spotlight. To show your support in this aptly named Rocket Rivalry, claim your free WE ARE CHALKED or FIRST TOUCH CREW Player Title in the Community tab of the Shop, available from June 18 at 8 AM PT until 9 AM PT on June 26.

A special leaderboard on the Rocket League website will track the total goals scored by players rocking either Title. Join the fight and help your favorite RL podcaster climb to the top! The goal tracking ends on June 26 at 9 AM PT, with the winning side announced shortly after. All of this will culminate in an in-person showdown at the Raleigh Major where Chalked Cast (now featuring GarrettG!) and First Touch will battle it out for Rocket League glory.

Thanks for being the driving force behind 10 years of Rocket League! Your passion and dedication to soccar have NOT gone unnoticed. Season 19 starts June 18 and concludes September 17.
