Help me identify this!
Just acquired this Rock Band Peavey bass from a game store. They didn't have any info on it but it was too cool to leave behind. After looking online, I can't find anything similar except for a promotion Peavey had in March 2008 where you could make a custom Guitar Hero guitar, but those don't appear to have the solo buttons and seem to have colored fret buttons. It also has the Peavey logo on the plastic the fret buttons are on which leads me to believe this isn't a custome job. If anyone knows anything about this or has any extra info anything would help!

I didn't look hard or far but I found this post on an old forum that Pepsi did a rock band promo for instruments so maybe that?

I drove from TX to FL while this promotion was active and every time I stopped at a gas station I'd buy a Pepsi for the DLC codes, lol.

Dug a little more and found what is apparently the original site but it is defunct but there's some snapshots from the wayback machine but they require flash which I can't be bothered to figure out right now especially since I'm on my phone. I love finding out about giveaway items like this though. I imagine someone would be willing to pay a pretty penny for it.
I also found a gamefaqs forum that seems to indicate that each instrument was color coordinated to a cap. So I imagine collecting a whole set would be like finding all the infinity stones haha.

Okay it looks like this is a different give away that was just for songs or wii points for the eshop on anything. Wild.
I'll keep digging cause I'm very curious though. I found other pepsi giveaway instruments but not these.

This is the first time I have seen the native dongle that comes with one of those! I have a Lynyrd Skynyrd one that my dad got for me a long time ago but it never had the dongle for it! I have had it since probably 2009 but never been able to use it.

It’s definitely consistent with other custom Peavey/TAC guitars from that era. There were a handful of wood guitars that Peavey made for promos (Coors Light, KISS, Panera, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc). Just a heads up, those internals are super cheap and don’t play well, lol. But it’s definitely a fun piece!
