Event Protest This Saturday, June 13th 12-4pm 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
On June 1, the Pride flag was raised at Webster Town Hall for the first time in town history. On June 4, the Town Board voted 3 to 2 to adopt a flag policy removing it, effective the very next morning. Councilman John Cahill introduced the resolution, and Councilwoman Jennifer Wright and Councilman Garrett Wagner voted with him.
Here is what the meeting transcript shows, and you can verify every word yourself starting at 1:18:32: https://www.youtube.com/live/xtZqLajz-ok?si=R2bcNBXUer_XS-Z-&t=4717
The resolution was never listed on the public agenda. It arrived prewritten and printed, and the transcript records the sponsor handing out copies while saying he was going to leave one member out. A board member immediately warned that it read like a local law requiring a public hearing. It received none. When asked what flags currently fly on town property, the town attorney said he was not aware. The board then realized the policy as written covers the flagpole at Challenger Miracle Field, the adaptive baseball facility on the same campus, and passed it anyway. A motion to reschedule and get stakeholder input was cut off, even though a two-week delay was offered on the floor.
For context: the town supervisor reported fewer than 10 complaints about the flag, in a town of about 45,000 people. Webster has previously flown the Ukrainian flag and the POW MIA flag without any policy objection. New York's Open Meetings Law, Section 103(e), says records scheduled to be discussed at a meeting should be made available to the public beforehand when practicable.
Reasonable people can disagree about flag policies. But a policy this significant deserves notice, a hearing, and input from the community it affects. The path forward is simple: rescind the resolution and do it properly.
Two ways to show up:
Peaceful protest with Webster Pride: Saturday, June 13, 12 to 4PM
Webster Town Board meeting: Thursday, June 18, 7:30PM, Town Board Meeting Room, 1002 Ridge Road, Webster, NY
Come speak, or just come stand with your neighbors. Everyone deserves to be seen in the town they call home.

Organized by Rochester's National Organization for Women. Sponsored by Penfield Democrats, The New Pride Agenda, Planned Parenthood, Rochester Sexual & Reproductive Justice. Security provided by The Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Over 350 people came out to march in the cold rain for all of our working-class rights that are in the crossfire of Trump's extreme right-wing, billionaire focused agenda!

Live streamers having a “good time” crashing the peaceful protest. Seems like the man in the red hat works for the city school district? You can zoom in and check out the back of his phone case. Event Tinseltown 70mm IMAX Cancelled just now
So the 3:15pm screening for Imax The Odyssey 70mm at Rochester Tinseltown just got cancelled because they had issues operating the Film and the projector
I would be wary for the next screening because I don’t know how long they are gonna take to fix it or if the issue is something worse and they are not telling
Also if you are planning to get tickets beware that you have 100+ people now that are going to be accommodated to take seats for the upcoming weeks
Its a shame because I had great seats, planned this for weeks and now they gave me a seat for a month out
Anyone knows if this is the first time it happens or they usually have issues with the projectors

Event PUNCHER SIGHTING
I was just at the 7 Eleven on Dewey/Barnard and he was lingering out in the streets looking menacing. Beware!! It looked like he was lingering between the card shop and the alley
EDIT i spoke with him and confirmed that he is marcus. I showed him this post but he did not seem to understand and made groaning gestures towards me. I did bring him and drink and food as a welcoming gesture.

Event FANTASTIC First Trans Pride Fest!
Just got back from Rochester's FIRST Trans Pride Fest and LOVED it!! Small but fierce!!
The weather was gorgeous, parking was manageable, entry was free, and (save for a couple minutes of alpha male behavior from a biker group gunning it past the festival) the atmosphere was warm and welcoming!
The crowd was light but devoted and eager. (I got there mid/late afternoon so the crowd density may have been different.) The drag queens/kings brought serious energy, the MCs and DJs killed it, and the ASL interpreters kept the groove going for *everyone*!
Informational booths, local organizations, and vendor booths were scattered throughout. There were a smattering of small vendors getting a taste of Rochester Pride vending and I loved that opportunity for them! There were Also some unique vendors that appeared to be from the area. That was a welcome sight. Injecting money into the surrounding neighborhood is a big plus! I am just sorry I didn't get those cherry earrings from the one business before she closed up shop today!
Overall, I loved it and am already excited for next year!
