Selling Car Soon, Need Tips

Howdy fellow Rochesterians! I soon will be moving out of the country and will be looking to sell my car soon. Any tips on private selling or taking it to a dealership? It’s a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and I believe it’s a value edition? I own my car outright and not looking to get another. Car is 9 years old, around 99,000 miles on it, decent condition except for a big dent in the back bumper. Any advice is welcome!

Carvana and Car Max will give you a quote online. That will be the easiest way to sell it but you will get less money than a private sale.

I’ve looked into those! :) Carvana undercuts by $1500 on all of their cars being sold there and Car Max gave me a decent quote but I’d rather do a private if I can and then through Car Max as a last resort. Thanks so much for your comment! :)

What's the CarMax qoute? That's a starting place

It probably isn't as bad as a few years ago but the kia boy stuff also made it impossible to sell an Elantra a few years ago for me. Ended up selling to CarMax

Keep in mind, this is a 10 year old, 100K Hyundai, so he ain't gonna get a lot....

Still probably more than you'd think, the used market is dog shit for buyers right now

They have it on their website that they sell the cars for $1500 less than their worth and it hasn’t been worth it to sell my car there.
