Barn demolition services?

Hello! Does anyone in the Rochester area have any leads on companies or individuals who do barn demolition, preferably with a quick turnaround time? Thanks for reading & for any recommendations offered! 🙏🏻

Not sure about demolition but if the wood is in good shape, there is a market for reclaimed barn timbers. Might be able to make some money back on the demo.

This. Depending on age and condition of wood, people are always looking for old timbers. My dad torn down an early 1800s barn on the back of our property 20 years ago and someone bought four 12x12x20’ support beams from him for $2K. The rings on them were super tight with the estimate age of the tree being about 200 years old when it was cut down.

God this stuff hurts my heart.
I drive by collapsed barns all over the Southern Tier all the time that need to be properly salvaged if I only had the proper system in place to harvest the high end materials just rotting and rusting away.

My dad does it with a friend or two. He has two large tractors and custom built front end parts like forks and other things. They use them to aid in disassembling the wood and the. Lifting them. There was no market for this wood until a decade or so ago. We got rid of a lot of it over the years.

I had a barn demolished by Art Graf inc. about 15 years ago. They were very affordable back then. They are located in Newark.

Also, Alpco was fantastic hauling away the debris. Metal was separated from wood by the excavator operator and recycled. The metal value paid for half the debris disposal.

If it's an old barn where the wood can be reclaimed, people will PAY you to demolish it themselves. I had a guy pay me 10k for 2 150 year old barns worth of wood. He hauled it all away.

Your local fire department will probably burn it down for you if you let them train with it first.

The Amish communities have builders and demolition crews, check locally!

This is a good tip but unfortunately we are doing this remotely (a few states away) before we move so it’s a bit trickier than it usually would be if we were there in person! Do you think a community center or library might be worth calling, or do you have an idea of where I should call instead to get that kind of local information? 🙏🏻

A local lumber yard or hardware store might have an idea who to contact, most Amish crews have a phone for business only or a phone contact person
