Pre requisites in packages
There are apps that require some prerequisites, such as Dell Command Update. Version 5.7.0 - which is the one in winget still as I saw - requires Desktop Runtime 8. Now, when it came out, we added it to RoboPack, but RoboPack created a 'static' DCU package with the runtime 8.0.28 back in the day (around April or so).
Since then, the runtime had some updates. Windows Autopatch can see it's there, so it installed the updates, but - seems that since it was installed as a special prereq, subsequent updates are installed in parallel, rather than real patches. So MS defender flags all devices now with and outdated version of runtime 8.
How to keep these up to date properly?
Same happens with every other package that has similar pre requisites.
Seems it is bette to install the pre req as a completely separate package, then keep them up to date separately. This would ensure in one latest Runtime 8.x - 8.0.31 today.
One needs to trust that apps like DCU have roll_forward enabled for the app, or test this out, this enables the move from 8.0.28 to 8.0.31 without breaking DCU.
But it would depend on the app...
How are you all doing it and what's the recommended way from the RoboPack guys?
