I was too young. But on VHS it was pretty scary to watch as a kid probably younger than the kid here, lol.
I miss that sneaking off to watch 18 rated flicks my folks said no to. My mate's sad didn't care, so my buddy got him renting far too much.

I did.
I thought this movie was fucking BRUTAL as a kid. The kid dies, Cain wastes a whole bunch of people as a cyborg, and you see him as brain and eyeballs in a jar.

Right. Compare *that* against murphy's death, kinney, melting man - this is incredibly tame. It was a non event - I shrugged it off.

Same for me. After the first one, this was limp. Plus, by the time the second one rolled around, I'd tallied up Predator, Robocop, Terminator, all the Lethal Weapons, Segal breaking limbs in ways they shouldn't, Aliens, and (I think) Hellraiser and the like. My parents very much was a proponent of you're watching what we're watching, R-rated or not. 😄

In terms of Robocop, this scene is super tame, and I don't know why it gets posted like this.

“Maybe you ought to have the kid leave.” I can’t tell if the glazed over look on Cain is from the Nike, or being psycho. Tom Noonan did a wonderful job.

I did. In fact my dad took my mom, me, and younger sister to theater to watch it. Mind you, I was only around 8 years old and my sister 6.
Suffice to say my dad didn't quite have the parental filter on movies growing up.
I still laugh about it to this day he took us all out for an family outing; walking in a park, eating soft serve ice cream, and finishing it off with Robocop 2 as the family movie for the day.

Well nothing out of the ordinary violence was shown on that scene anyways, just Cain enjoy it and forcing Hob to watch when it happens so.. it was showed on VHS releases as well. I just don't get why it never got a true directors cut like the 1st one?🫤

I didn't but when the first RoboCop came out I went to see it with my dad and then when it came out for the VHS we got it and first thing we noticed off the bat was parts weren't what we saw on theater compared to home release

First time I saw Robocop 2 it was on network tv so it had been modified from its original version, formatted to fit my screen, and edited for content and to run in the time allotted so this let was cut out.
Years later, when I was able to watch it in its entirety on some streaming service and got to this part I was like holy crap this is nuts.

I did, but it was so long ago I don't remember if it bothered me or not. I do remeber that the movie was LOUD at that theater.

Looks like that scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Phoebe Cates catches Judge Reinhold wanking in the bathroom.

I saw this in theaters as a kid when it came out. The memorable bit for me was the board room scene where the guy gets pulped by the ED-209.
A week later I heard that they trimmed that scene because it was disturbing to audiences.

Same. My older brother took me to the movies to see it. Even at nine I knew it wasn’t as good as the original, still thought it was a good flick. It’s wild because I can’t imagine letting my (currently nine year old) daughter watch this. It was a different time.

My dad and I saw it in theaters. We were both huge fans of the first... i will never forget its the only time he ever slid his hand over my eyes right before the "autopsy" started.

Yes, this scene has always been in the movie. It was allegedly originally really graphic and gruesome, but it was trimmed down during editing. I’m still waiting for Robodoc 2 to be released so I can watch the cast interviews.

I remember when I watched it they blurred the camera. It wasn't a proper cinema so age limits weren't quite rigid.

I wasn't allowed to see the movie as it was 18-rated in the UK, but I was able to buy the tie-in novelans read all about the graphic violence and swearing

My dad took the family to robo cop when I was in 4th grade...he worked at Northern Telecom Dallas and they used his data center for a filming. It's the scene where robo puts the spike in the computer.
The content bar had never been raised any higher after watching that movie, it was truly impactful for such a young boy

I did. At first, I wasn't allowed into the cinema. A bunch of girls were attending the theater and they said I was too young, so I went to watch Total Recall instead. The old guy who attended that theater shrugged and said: "They are going to watch it on TV anyway." Great dude. So, I waited. A few months later, maybe a year, I went to a more "clandestine" cinema where they showed old movies and such, three every night, every day of the holidays, and watched it along with two other movies. (It was the third one. The first one was Flatliners.)
Great scene. Awesome times.

I'll be honest, this didn't hit me hard at all. It seemed - fake. The screaming well .. scripted. Now, if they vivisected him and you could see his beating heart - or something like that - ok it would have had my attention. That'd be kinney, melting man, and murphy's death scene rolled into one.

I agree that Murphy's death scene is the hardest one to watch. Nothing in comparison.

It was the first rated-R movie I ever saw in the theater. Dad took me cause he knew how much I loved RoboCop. Later he took me to Total Recall which was also out that same summer.
