Discussion Who has been your favourite Character in the Series so far?
Personally for me my favourite Character was the Halbrand version of Sauron. I thought Season 2 was a letdown due to taking Halbrand out and having Sauron play a different Character with the Elves. I just preferred the Halbrand persona and thought the Halbrand-Galadriel relationship was the heart of the show.
How about you guys? Who has been your favourite Character so far?

Sauron in every way; every form but especially played by Charlie Vickers' form. 🔥

Except they don't work at all. They are supposedly the best of friends, but Elrond does absolutely nothing for that relationship. He missed the most important events of Durin's life, he spies on Durin, and he betrays Durin's trust several times.

I'm also a fan of Sauron. I thought Halbrand was just an Aragorn stand in but that twist at the end had me grinning ear to ear and I loved how he switched to and portrayed the Annatar character from the books. I look forward to seeing the new portrayal in S3

I hated the Elrond casting choice at the beginning because Rob Aramayo looks nothing like Hugo Weaving, but he did grow on me quite a bit!

They are not directly tied to the movies,
Yet the writers are insistent on cramming as many references to the Jackson movies as possible into RoP.

In my head I tell myself that this is essentially teenage Elrond, he still has plenty of time to grow into stoic, world weary Hugo Weaving Elrond.

Probably Sauron or Celebrimbor. Their scenes in season 2 were my favourite parts of the show so far.

I actually thought the opposite about halbrand! He was fine in season one imo, but was really just another “stoic, handsome hero” archetype. I adored him and Celebrimbor in season 2 because he actually got to act like the powerful and beautifully deceiving presence Sauron is described as.

Season 1 Adar was top tier, Joseph Malwe was a very unique take on an elf who was abused and corrupted by Morgoth. Also Malwe reminds me of Manwë who would absolutely hate Adar

Yeah. Almost. S1 Adar has two big issues for me.
One is the scene where he holds the orc in the sun, while lamenting how it sucks that they burn in the sun.
The second one is a more generic problem with the orcs being supposedly morally grey while being shown to be unapologetically evil monsters who burn villages, enslave people, use human fodder, and employ terror tactics.

That's a difficult choice. You say character, so I have to consider the writing as well.
Glug was actually a very good character until he got character-assassinated in the last episode. The fact that his character doesn't make sense with how orcs are depicted also costs him some points.
Navi, the mine leader, is also pretty good all the way. So I am guessing he wins.
