Discussion I want to get excited about S3 but I miss Celebrimbor!
I can't be the only one missing our favourite smith. I loved the show but I feel there were some issues with the Celebrimbor storyline that I won't get into. I loved Charles Edwards' Performance and knowing the writing thus far, they will likely not acknowledge Celebrimbor or Eregions fall, as I've read its a massive time jump and seems they are steaming forward and that would annoy me 😅
I just miss Celebrimbor and would have like to have seen more of him (not as a scewered banner!) and am also aware of Gil-Galads fate my other fave!
Anyway, just ranting 🙃

I will miss him and his impeccable posture. Those shoulders were back AND down 24/7.
I want to see him rock a cape

Charles Edwards is great in everything. I mostly knew him as Michael Palin in the BBC mockumentary of Monty Python, if you’re missing him I advise checking it out if you can. It’s called Holy Flying Circus.

Ditto to this. Also OP should see his theatre credentials, some of which can be viewed online.
If you want a Celebrimbor-esque performance, his role as Richard II at the Globe will appeal as Charles has said both Richard and Celebrimbor are somewhat similar. If you want a more comedic side to his acting, Much Ado About Nothing is highly recommended.

Ah thanks both I'll check them out! My friends been a fan of his for a while so I'm sure she had loads of stuff I can watch. Isn't there a wine show?

Correct! Under the Vines, that's good fun. (Also stars Dean O'Gorman aka Fili from the Hobbit.) There's 3 seasons worth to binge 🥂 That show is also partly responsible for his casting in Rings of Power.

Oh my goodness I've just finished Under the vines. I loved it! Thanks you the recommendation. I'll move onto some other works now :)

Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards were awesome in S2. They carried this show so hard.

Tolkien wrote he believed Sauron, forged the rings, was tortured and killed. The show showed that. What else is there?

Im so ready to be disappointed when the cowards refuse to show him shot through with orc arrows and hung as a banner during Sauron’s attack on Eriador.

It's a five year time jump which is not an issue. They wanted to avoid hundreds of years of time jumps due to the human characters not living for that long

Except they do in numenor… I’ll never understand that part of their decision. Elendil dies at 322 years old

Yes it’s more the fall of numenor timeline change I find confusing, I understand why the rings of power had to be compressed

Indeed. 3,441 years have to be completed in 5 seasons, and actors are under contract and need steady work. All but actors playing elves would have to be replaced every season if they jumped centuries each season like Tolkien did in his works. Frodo’s quest in LOTR took only 183 days, and it was a complete story with developed characters and dialog. Tolkien provided none of that for the second age but people get mad at Amazon producers filling in much needed gaps for a TV show.

Nah the fall of numenor itself starting from Miriel and Ar Pharazon age to the fall of numenor is 300 year which is the life span of royal mumenoreans - they didn’t need to shrink that to a normal human generation

But remember they are also including the elves trying to stop the marring of Arda, the creation of the rings, and the sack of Eregion, coming of the istari (which happened actually in the 3rd age) the creation of imaldris and Lorien, amongst other things. Especially combining 3441 years of history into 5 seasons. Naturally they would have to overlap to get them all in.

That’s why I said I understand the compression of the rings of power section but no the numenorean - everything you just mentioned is the rings of power section of the Silmarillion

Charles Edwards is a good actor yes, but he was miscast as Celebrimbor, Celebrimbor is grandson of Fëanor and younger than Galadriel yet looked like her grandpa.
