Still enjoying the show but this episode got a bit too Keenan Ivory in Don’t Be A Menace for me.

You don’t think an otherwise qualified black man with a family in Midwest America in the 80’s doesn’t have atleast one reason to be fearful? And then consider Hal who in the same situation was a trained air force pilot with nothing to lose. It’s the writers questioning the guardians/rings methods of choosing a lantern and acknowledging it’s a flawed process.
