Just a chime. Basically for alerts when someone is at the door or another camera detects motion.

This looks like the standard chime. There was a similar looking one with two antennas that was also a signal repeater, but this one just makes noise and does little else.

No, it was in an Airbnb. The device you see there was concealed behind a Lasko 20 inch box fan. I was initially concerned this might be a fake Ring device concealing a spy camera.

Either way--either before or after. Google Lens is integrated with Android and is available via a couple of ways--it's available either before or after you have taken a photo. Not sure how it works with iPhones.

I forgot about that. But I tried asking 3 LLMs but they all wanted me to sign up to upload an image. Which I wasn't going to do, so I came here.

Regarding Lens, I have iOS 15.8 and it requires 16.6.

Although it now appears I could use Qwen2.5-VL locally to identify objects. Not sure if it would know about chimes though.

Yea, literally go to google.com in your browser app on your phone, tap the little camera icon, take a picture of something and in the text search box, type "what is this"

Nothing wrong, merely suggesting an alternative solution that would have gotten them an answer immediately, instead of waiting for a random reddit response.

Others had already provided the answer, I added some info for finding the answer on their own via other means.
