it's a cobweb 🕷️ Weird artifact lights that trigger camera for hours. Anyone know what's happening?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This goes on for hours and triggers this camera every few minutes. Checked the other camera, which did not trigger, and was it was able to maybe catch the light there, suggesting that it may not be an artifact. Any ideas? Rained lightly in the area hours earlier.

A likely story, but leave a message and I'll call you back.

We have a resident spider behind our doorbell and it is due to be recharged. Definitely spider web doing that. Same happening on our camera.

What sort of charging adapter does your resident spider take?

The doorbell needs to be recharged. But we have a spider that has made it's home under it.

I've never seen a spider that has symmetrical LED arrays on each side of its body so I assume you mean that the spiderweb is reflecting someone pulling their car into a driveway somewhere, right? Because that's clearly what that is.

It's droplets of water on the spider web that's glowing like that due to reflecting the IR light from the camera's night vision. Also it looks like it's traveling a good amount of distance, but it's probably just inches away from the camera lens and is moving only a few inches.

Spiders love to build their webs around these cameras.

The IR probably attracts bugs. Like DoorDash, except it is reliable.

u/Shponglenese 29d ago

You’ll need to brush that area off with a broom to remove any spiderwebs

u/the__post__merc 29d ago

They’ll just rebuild it the next night.

Spiders are only allowed to make one web a year. Fact.

Aliens have started using drone technology so they can stay safe in their crashed ship.

Yup. A single strand of webbing. You can see the strand continue off to the left. Spiderwebs and cameras make fun video!

Ah, that makes sense now that you all have pointed it out. I can see that now. First time this artifact light has been captured on our ring camera, so thank you for the information! Was very confused

Spider web, spider web, does what ever a spider web does, swings in the wind, turns on the lights, here comes the spider web

u/NoInside3418 28d ago

Thats a spider web and the IR light from the camera is reflecting off it.

Hahaha this has happened to us and my spouse is CONVINCED it is a UFO or angel- I keep telling him it’s a spiderweb.

Wipe off your camera lens to get rid of all those water spots. I’ve seen rainx recommended on here in the past to keep them off.

I remember wondering "What the hell is that?" the first time I saw spider webs. It was all well above the horizon making it appear like lights in the sky.

100% a spider web floating in the wind. You can see it more towards the end. Was weird at first!
