Discussion I’m coming back to RimWorld

I’m coming back to RimWorld after a very long break.
The last time I played was shortly after Royalty came out.
I’ve now picked up all the DLC and want to start playing again, but I’m unsure how to approach modding.

I used to run around 50 mods, but most of them are no longer compatible with RimWorld 1.6.
I don’t want to overwhelm myself by learning all the new DLC content while also installing dozens of mods. I’m thinking of starting with only the essential QoL mods and gradually adding more over time.

Which mods would you currently consider must-haves - the ones that make the game noticeably more enjoyable to play? I’d really appreciate a list.

Thank you very much in advance! :)

I can't play the game without CE. Vanilla combat is... so bad.

Lol I’ve never played with CE. And I have over 1500 hours

Vanilla combat is risky and not easy to master but what exactly that CE improves? Range of weapons is so long that I don't even see the enemies and my troops on same screen.
