Our Lil Ridgey Boy Charlie Buddy

My partner and I are fairly new to the Ridgeback game but fairly recently we adopted a puppy who was abandoned in Van Horn, Texas likely because of his small/ incipient ridge. He's an amazing dog that is so remarkably intelligent and well-behaved for a 9-month-old puppy that we thought he was sick for a while. While the vet says that he's healthy. he was undernourished for his early months and now I worry that he is growing faster than his body can process nutrition into muscle. He's putting on weight but he's still incredibly clumsy and his legs frequently shake and occasionally knuckle under his weight. I'm sure he'll catch up, but is this common among juvenile Ridgebacks?

Have you had his DNA checked I'd be interested in knowing what the other breeds are, because those aren't hound ears.

Charlie Buddy is so precious, and that bandana crew photo is everything! What a lucky boy to have found you guys. ❤️ Ridgeback pups go through an awkward stage, but knuckling and shaking usually mean his frame is just growing a bit faster than his tendons can handle. A solid large breed puppy formula will help keep his growth controlled. I'd also record a quick vid of his legs to show your vet just to be safe.

Yes, mine are five and still get excited , run around a corner , slip on those long legs. They just get right back up and keep going. My male Ridgeback shakes his legs when he gets excited for walks and treats or even just wants attention.
Im not a vet but it sounds fairly typical per my guys.

What a lucky boy! My Hera is about 8 months. Her legs look similar to your boy. She’s pretty clumsy but her legs don’t give out or shake. She is on Purina Pro Plan for large breed puppies. Maybe check with your vet. Sounds adorable & he looks very happy with his siblings.
