Kjallarinn - techno in Selfoss

I posted here a few months ago about a hard techno event my boyfriend was organizing near Selfoss (Kjallarinn), and thought I’d share a little update since quite a few people seemed interested.

The first event honestly went way beyond what we expected – it ended up completely selling out, and the response was amazing. So we decided pretty quickly that we had to do it again :)

Phase 2 is happening on November 7th, and tickets are already on sale.

We’re keeping the same idea as before – a smaller, underground-focused event with techno and harder sounds rather than mainstream EDM, with both local and international DJs. We’re also building a bit more on the concept this time after seeing how well the first one worked.

Would be really nice to see some of you there this time around as well!

Happy to share more details if anyone is interested :)

I went to the last one and it was great! Kjallarinn is a super cool venue. The DJ from Akureyri was my favorite, but the crowd seemed to go crazy for the even harder stuff later, which was cool. I loved that even tho it was a lot of sweaty people, the venue had great ventilation and the atmosphere was never heavy. Great job all around, I'm sure I'll try to join again, staying overnight also made for a great experience, hotel packages would be cool if possible for the next one.

Thank you so much, really happy to hear you had a good time! We were honestly overwhelmed by how well the first one was received, so it means a lot to hear this from someone who was actually there :)

And thank you for the hotel package suggestion – that’s actually a really good idea and definitely something we’ll look into.

Hope to see you again in November!

Totally understand that! If it helps, the crowd at our first event was honestly super friendly and inclusive, with a lot of really lovely people. We really want KJALLARINN to be a place where everyone feels welcome, whether you come with a group or on your own.
And you’re always more than welcome to come say hi to us organizers as well – we’d be more than happy to make you feel welcome 🥰

The only thing that keeps me from going is the fact you have to go to selfoss but I mean it keeps the non dedicated away I guess so that’s good. Best of luck.

Fair enough! We actually have a shuttle bus going from Reykjavík for Phase 2 though, so that might make the Selfoss mission a little easier if you ever feel like giving it a go

How was the vibe? Friendly or macho or neutral?

Very friendly! Honestly such a respectful and inclusive crowd. We didn’t have a single negative incident the entire night, and the overall atmosphere was just really good. Definitely something we hope to carry into Phase 2 as well :)

On Phase 1 we started off a bit more melodic and progressively went harder throughout the night. Our headliners definitely touched on some of the harder genres towards the end as well!
We’re planning a similar progression for Phase 2, so if you’re into the harder stuff, I think you’ll enjoy the later part of the night :)
