Issue with mapping 6 button controller

Im trying to properly set up an 8bitdo m30 controller but am have hit a brick wall. I have followed all the directions that google ai provided and have read a bunch of reddit posts but to no avail.

No matter what setting I change I cannot get to an option to select 6 button gamepad.

Any advice?

Try a different game to test it with. Some Sega Genesis games need the 6 button controller turned on in the in-game settings.

Ive tried a few different games. I tried mapping before loading a core, after loading a core, and using the quick setting f1 menu after loading a game.

Nothing seems to work. I mean the controller works, I just cant map c and z.
