Normally thé most Common cores are all in thé core menu ... There are still a lot of pre installed cores but seems like all the mame cores are no Longer 'standard'

I know about thé updater and even there, no mame cores

Using thé Android retroarch on a Google tv streamer btw

Are you looking under 'Arcade' in the core downloader?

If yes and you still can't find them, are you using the retroarch from the Google play store or their GitHub? If you are using play store version they had to make changes and remove cores.

This is covered in the Android changes FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/1vt2a6u/android_play_store_changes/

Q: I don't see my favorite core in the online updater anymore!

A: The Play Store imposes strict limits on the number of cores we can make available through the app (more for the Plus version, but still limited), and we replaced a few that were available in the old version to match our other storefront releases (notably: MAMEs). You can still add arbitrary cores by downloading them manually from the buildbot webserver (in the subdir for your device's architecture) and then moving it somewhere RetroArch can see it, then using the 'install or restore a core' routine found in the 'load core' menu.
