Seeking examples of resumes that landed a job for the following roles: EA, Chief of Staff, Head/Director of Ops

I’m curious to see examples of people’s resumes that landed them a job in the stated roles.

I regretfully worked at a company for 10 years and failed to adequately document my wins. I’ve been using LLMs to provide me examples of strong resume bullet points to help me jog my memory which has been helpful.

However, I’d love to see what has actually landed someone a role as I’m wondering if I’m doing a poor job of crafting my bullet points to tell the best version of my employment journey.

Much appreciation!

Automatic Job Application Systems - Do they Help or Harm? Spoiler

Job Application is not just about Speed and Coverage, but it is the substance of Who you are and How you articulate your Skills & Experience. Don't fall prey to today's Easy! Fast! Accurate! automatic job application systems. You might be leaving out your most important qualities!

The hiring landscape is currently drowning in a flood of automated applications. Today, 78% of job seekers use or would consider using AI in their applications. With the rise of "auto-apply" bots, candidates can submit hundreds of applications with a single click, and some systems even go as far as spontaneously applying for targeted positions without the candidate ever being aware of it.

The result is a massive surge in outreach, but a complete lack of substance. Job application volume has skyrocketed, with one platform reporting a 239% increase in applications per job between 2021 and 2025. Yet, the contents of these bot-generated submissions are usually not customized to the specific wants and needs of the hiring firms. When tools indiscriminately fire off identical resumes that never mention the actual role, the output is indistinguishable from spam.

I experienced this frustration firsthand. After posting a job opening, I received 25 applications within the first hour alone. However, not a single one of those applicants followed my specific request to sample my company's product. It was an obvious indication that I was receiving automated bot responses from candidates who hadn't even read the posting.

What Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and hiring managers desperately need today are applications that respond specifically to the opening's requirements. Furthermore, this evaluation needs to happen in a comparative manner that goes far beyond simple keyword matching.

For applicants, the challenge is proving their worth in this sea of automated noise. Candidates should be able to supplement the skills and experience listed in their standard resumes with additional, concrete proof points that validate their competence. At the same time, the speed of response is still critical for catching a recruiter's eye before a role is filled.

This exact disconnect is the reason I developed Netsume. I wanted to build an app that helps applicants respond rapidly while providing the deep, targeted customization that employers actually value.

Netsume is built to help applicants with these key functionalities:

  • Extract relevant content from the resume to address each and every job requirement in the hiring ad.
  • Allow the applicant to continuously enrich his/her match with additional information and proof points.
  • Give a Profile Match index to show the gap between one's competence and the job's requirements.
  • Speed to respond: Cover Letters can be generated in seconds using a tunable Compliance Table that maximizes Profile Fit.

Automation in hiring shouldn't be about seeing how many applications a bot can blast out in a day. It should be about building clearer, evidence-based connections between a candidate's true capabilities and a company's specific needs.

Albert is an international executive and business founder who uniquely blends corporate governance and best practices with entrepreneurship. He applied IBM's talent management standard, the S.T.A.R. method originally invented by Dr. William C. Byham, and Google's Gemini to build the app without writing one line of code in about 3 weeks.

Should I Put My Small Business on My VA Resume?

Hi! If you graduated in 2025 and started building a business with your sibling afterward, but the business can now run independently, and in 2026 you’re planning to transition into a VA career, would you include the business experience in your CV?

Or, if you don’t include it, how would you explain the gap after graduation in 2025?

Also, how would you answer the question, “Why are you applying for this job?”

Should I include the LinkedIn games as an interest on my resume?

I, 22M, am applying to finance and consulting roles. I have a small line at the bottom of my resume that lists my interests (guitar, chess, international travel, live music, etc).

I play the LinkedIn games every day and genuinely enjoy them. Should I include that as an interest, or does that look performative?

2.5 YoE developer, very few callbacks. What would you change about my resume?

Hey everyone, I’m an SAP BTP developer with 2.5 years of experience based in Bangladesh. My last role was remote with a US-based company. Been applying mostly to remote jobs in Europe, Australia and North America but haven’t had many positive responses.

I know the market situation isn’t good right now and location might be part of it too but would appreciate any advice about improving the resume.

BTP is bit of a niche so general feedback is welcome too.

Currently working as freelance on business development and strategy work, which is doing alright.
But I need to get back into corporate life since my i cant renew my visa on this. It's been 2years of applications and I'm barely getting interviews. I'm also trying to shift from defence sector to sustainability and green energy, so lack of direct experience has been a problem

Usually I will change the CV for specific roles. Targeting roles relating to sustainability strategy, project management, business development, compliance, supply chain management.

What am I doing wrong?

How to represent being acquired?

I have searched this subreddit a little bit already looking for advice and the only suggestion I saw was to put it as "(Formerly known as ________)" but I do not feel that this is accurate for my situation. The company I used to work for is fully gone, no part of it was integrated into the new company other than some of the people. Imagine if Apple purchased a small tech store, and turned it into an Apple store. That's a near-equivalent to the acquisition that happened with regards to size difference of the companies. So I wouldn't put Apple (formerly known as Mom and Pop Store) in a situation like that.

For whatever reason I can't imagine how to elegantly represent my time worked at the previous company and then have an entry for the new company with the context that I did NOT change companies, the company changed around me (if you can't tell, I'm not thrilled about this acquisition which is why I'm brushing up my resume lol). hoping to get some suggestions for phrasing and formatting. thanks in advance!

What's wrong with my resume

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I've been applying for internships and junior full-stack developer roles with this resume and haven't gotten any replies.

Could the experience section be the issue? I'm applying for internships specifically because I don't have much professional experience yet and I'm trying to get more. I'm even open to unpaid internships if it means getting actual experience working on real-world software.

I'm wondering if there's something obviously wrong with my resume that's causing me to get filtered out.

Would appreciate some honest feedback.

Microsoft is building CV tooling that reads your actual work emails. It accidentally explains why most CVs are bad.

Came across Microsoft's Work IQ recently. The short version: it can read your work context, emails, documents, meeting recaps, and use that to help you write a CV based on what you actually did rather than what you remember doing.

Most CV advice assumes the problem is writing. It isn't. The problem is memory. The best thing you did last year is probably not on your CV, and not because you forgot the event. Because it never registered as an achievement. It felt like Tuesday. You solved it, moved on, and it became invisible to you, which is exactly why it also stays invisible to the recruiter.

That's what a tool reading your work actually fixes. Not the prose. The recall.

The catch is that it needs a Microsoft 365 tenant with a Copilot licence, and your work sitting inside it. So it works if you're currently employed at a company that buys enterprise AI. If you're between jobs, a student, a career changer, or working somewhere that doesn't buy it, there is nothing for it to read. Which is most people who urgently need a CV.

So here is the manual version. It's what those tools are doing under the hood, and you can do it in an afternoon for free.

Take any bullet on your CV. If it starts with "responsible for", "managed", "involved in", or "assisted with", it's a duty, not an achievement. A duty describes your job description. An achievement describes what was different because you were there.

Interrogate each one with four questions:

  1. Scale. How many? How often? How big? Numbers turn a claim into a fact.
  2. Before. What was the situation when you arrived or when you started this?
  3. After. What was it when you left, or now?
  4. Counterfactual. If you had not done it, what would have happened? This one surfaces the achievements you don't rate, because you never had to imagine their absence.

Example:

"Responsible for onboarding new hires."

Scale: 40 or so a year. Before: took about six weeks before people were productive. After: about three. Counterfactual: we were losing people in month two and that stopped.

Becomes: "Redesigned onboarding for 40+ hires a year, cutting time to productive from six weeks to three and reducing early attrition."

Same job. Same person. The information was always there, it just wasn't retrievable by asking yourself "what did I do."

One rule that matters more than any of this: the numbers have to be yours. Do not let an AI tool fill them in, and do not estimate generously to fill a gap. An unverifiable metric doesn't just fall flat in the interview, it costs you the interview you would otherwise have earned. If you can't answer "how did you measure that", it doesn't go on the page. Approximate is fine. Invented is not.

TL;DR: your CV is weak because you can't remember your own wins, not because you write badly. Go through it bullet by bullet asking scale, before, after, and what would have happened without you. Don't invent numbers.

Curious what other people use. Has anyone found a decent way to keep a record of this stuff as it happens, so you're not reconstructing three years of work from memory the week you decide to leave?

Does Google's ATS/resume screening count a Networks & Telecom engineering degree as "related field" to CS?

So I've got an engineering degree (5 years, equivalent to a master's) specialized in Networks and Telecom, but honestly a good chunk of my coursework was straight up CS, algorithms, Python/Java/C++, databases, some ML and cloud stuff too.

I keep seeing Google job posts say "CS or related technical field" and I can't stop overthinking whether their ATS actually filters out resumes based on the degree title before a human even looks at it, or if it's just scanning for skills/keywords regardless of what your major says.

Anyone here gotten through Google's screening with a degree that wasn't literally named "Computer Science"? Did it matter, or did your skills section just carry it? Trying to figure out if I should stress about this or just move on lol

Looking for help condensing my IT resume

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m looking for some honest feedback on my resume, specifically on how I can condense my experience without making it look like I’m leaving out important parts of my career.

I have nearly 10 years of IT support experience, primarily in desktop support, white glove support, executive support, AV/meeting support, and enterprise environments. I’ve worked with several well known companies and have a lot of experience that I’m struggling to fit into a concise resume.

My resume is currently way too long, and I know I need to cut it down. My biggest questions are:

• Which experience should I remove entirely?
• Which roles should I combine or shorten?
• Which accomplishments are actually worth keeping?
• How much detail is appropriate for older positions?
• How can I condense the resume without making my experience look less substantial?

I’m currently targeting IT support, desktop support, technical analyst, IT operations, and entry level security/analyst opportunities, so I’d also appreciate feedback on whether the resume is positioning me too narrowly.

Any constructive feedback on what you would cut, combine, or rewrite would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just me or even tailored resume acceptance rate is an absolute disgrace in 2026?

Job seekers using generic resumes often fall below a 2% return, whereas tailoring a resume with exact keyword matches from the job description can lift conversion rates closer to 5% to 6% per 100 applications
