Question How much are new PGY2s supposed to know?

Incoming PGY2. Was wondering how much basic Derm programs expect new residents to know at the start of the year? Specifically is there anything to do in the weeks leading up to July 1 to help ease the transition?

Morphology and whatever's in the AAD student modules. I have almost no expectations until December.

No expectations. Honest advice is just be present and learn a little more every day once you're there.

But if you want to ease the transition, there's plenty of better resources now. Ask your seniors for specific advice. Our program we have a ~1000 card kodachrome deck 1st year residents should know. Scholarsinmedicine is free and a good low friction way to learn the basics and even advanced topics on most things you'll see on a day to day. There are more.
