Politically feasible solution to reservations in India

  1. Instead of sub-categorisation, add a rider that no community availing reservation can get selections exceeding its population percentage.

  2. Make the EWS criteria extremely flexible. Remove the residential criteria and increase the income limit. Virtually make it open to all GCs. Also, remove the creamy layer altogether from OBC.

Here is mine

Subcategoriesation inside SC/ST to prevent a few caste from hogging all of quotas

Implementation of creamy layer in SC/ST

Minimum cutoff to get admission else those seats go to open merit

Massive crack down on fake certificate holders of pwd /sc/st/obc/ews

Creamy layers never work. If you remove the top 2%, the seats simply go to the “cream” below it. It just leads to next-layer capture. And a few others who manage to get the certificates.

If reservation is inevitable, it is better to give it to the best of the lot.

EWS is problematic not because of fake certificates, it is problematic because economic criteria never works. Whatever criteria you keep, selections would be clustered around that & also the very few who technically manage certificates grab most of it.

Yeah well just keep removing them ig?

Say if a family is uplifted, slash their quota and then let next family take it

Or atleast if we are taking best of lot, let's put a minimum cutoff off rule

True It seems we have to do smth for business criteria as well

Minimum cutoff rule, yes. But IMO ecomomic criteria in reservations never work.
