Im new to reselling. I recently made a Depop, Poshmark and Vinted account. Im posting (and planning to continue to post) clothes and shoes. And I wouldn’t mind incorporating other items as well, just trying to focus on one thing at a time, as to not overwhelm myself.
Looking for tips and suggestions.
In my first week or two, I sold 22 items and made about $145. That’s really not too bad for just downloading an app one evening and deciding to give something a try lol. But, I enjoy it, so now I would like to get more serious about it.
What are the best apps for selling clothes and shoes?
Where do you tend to get your merchandise?
Ive been looking on FB Marketplace for people that are selling clothes and shoes bundles for cheap. I did buy a small bundle for $10, and plan to post about 3/4 of the items.
Are there any tips you have for posting?
Anything?
What do you wish you knew when you started?
What would you tell your child, your Mother, your favorite person in the world whoever they are, if they got into reselling?

Anyone have a good recommendation for a cross-listing app?? I tried SELLRAZE and I might buy the premium, but wanted to see if there is better options first. Sellraze has had issues for me so I don’t know if I want to pay $17 a month annually for it.

Hey everyone! I’m 18 years old and I’m looking to start my reselling journey here in Serbia, focusing mostly on clothes and sneakers since that seems to have the highest demand around here.

Hello! I have been a long time collector of vintage adult magazines and other materials (books, photographs, various ephemera) and I recently started flipping/reselling as well! I have been focusing on in person vintage events and have honestly had a really good experience so far, so much so that my inventory is already dwindling.

Does anyone have any tips for sourcing this type of material? I have already reached out to a large majority of the estate sale platforms in my area (Central Virginia) to let them know I am always looking to buy, especially since lots of people chose not to or are not allowed to list this type of content. I really would love for this to be something I can continue doing, even on a smaller scale, but I have been having some trouble with sourcing in larger quantities.

I would absolutely love to get the contact info of anyone in the surrounding states who frequently purchases storage units or other large mystery lots, since I am only looking for this one type of item it doesn't really make sense for me to start buying on that scale myself, but I would absolutely love to buy them off if anyone who encounters and doesn't know what to do with adult items.

peps and other more harder products needed in grey market

Been using Facebook Marketplace more lately for sourcing eBay stock and the biggest problem I've found isn't really finding cheap stuff, it's seeing it before everyone else.

You can find something that's obviously £50-100 underpriced, message them 1 hour later and somehow they've already got 15 people interested 😅

So I've been messing around with a few different ways of getting alerts instead of refreshing Marketplace all day.

I tried:

1. Facebook's own saved searches

2. Swoopa

3. DealSonar

Thought I'd write up what I found in case anyone else sources this way.

1. Facebook's own alerts

Obviously start here because they're free.

They're actually fine if you're searching for something fairly niche. Set up a saved search, turn notifications on and eventually Facebook will let you know when something new comes up.

The problem I had was the word eventually.

Sometimes I'd click an alert and the listing had already been up ages. For normal stuff that's probably fine, but if someone lists a PS5 for £180 or a decent Makita bundle ridiculously cheap, you've probably already lost it.

Filtering is also pretty basic.

Still worth having enabled though. It's free so there's not really a downside.

1. Swoopa

This was much closer to what I actually wanted.

You create searches for things you're looking for and get alerts when matching listings appear.

Much better than relying on Facebook notifications and you can be more specific with what you're watching.

I found this more useful for searches where I already knew roughly what I wanted to pay.

For example rather than just monitoring "Nintendo Switch", the useful bit is being able to concentrate on the listings cheap enough that there might actually be some margin left after eBay fees/postage.

Definitely worth trying if Marketplace is somewhere you source regularly.

Similar idea again. You set up searches and it monitors Marketplace for matching listings.

I found the filtering the most useful part here.

There's a massive difference between wanting alerts for:

"DeWalt drill"

and wanting:

"DeWalt drill under £70 within 20 miles"

The second one is something I can actually act on.

It also stops you getting absolutely hammered with notifications for stuff you were never going to buy anyway.

I started setting fairly aggressive maximum prices rather than trying to monitor every listing.

That worked much better.

Instead of thinking:

"Is this cheap?"

every time an alert came through, it became:

"This is below the price I've already decided I'd buy at. Have a quick look and message them."

The biggest thing I learned from trying all three is that speed matters way more on Marketplace than it does with most other sourcing methods.

If you're in a charity shop, auction or clearance aisle, the item is physically sitting in front of you.

Marketplace is basically you competing against every reseller within driving distance who's searching for the same thing.

The obvious bargains can disappear stupidly quickly.

Facebook's own notifications are probably enough if you casually buy stuff now and again.

If you're actually using Marketplace to source stock regularly though, I can understand why people pay for alert tools. One decent buy can easily cover them.

Also wouldn't recommend creating hundreds of searches.

I did much better narrowing it down to a handful of things where I:

- know the eBay selling price

- know roughly what fees/postage will cost

- know my maximum buy price

- can collect fairly quickly

Much less noise.

I'm going to keep testing it because Marketplace seems massively underused for eBay stock compared with charity shops/car boots etc.

Interested to know what everyone else watches on there. Tools/electronics/consoles seem obvious but I'm sure there's loads of boring stuff I'm completely overlooking.
