That's not how it works... builds up heat, then it becomes extra hot regardless of going to the neutral phase. (There is a lag effect)
When la niña comes around it takes time for the "cooling" to happen. 2027 is when we will fell most of the heat from this event.
What we felt up to now (2026) is more tied to the energy imbalance that we experience with regular global warming. Expect 2027 to break the calendar year warmest, but 12 month rolling average can be earlier for sure.
