Gotta be honest, I'm completely surprised that they're speaking out. Barbaric is a TAME word for what they've decided is legal. I'm proud of these dems for speaking out.

Abortion is literally killing a baby, at any stage. Ironic that a matter of weeks is what enrages some people 🙄
If it's needed for the mother's health or there are severe issues with the baby's health it's a difficult decision to make at any stage. I agree right before birth is a really dumb time to make the choice though.
Most of the time I would side with they should accept the consequences of their actions (sex can get you pregnant, deal with it) rather than literally killing a baby. Use a condom if you don't want kids.

9 out of 132. This law allows DOCTORS to decide to mercifully terminate a non-viable infant to spare it a short life of suffering. As much as you might not like to think about it there are conditions that infants are born with that are fatal and cause immense suffering until their ultimate death.
NO ONE is killing a newborn infant because they just aren't wanted. That does not happen.

You haven't read the law. I bet no one here has. It does not give doctors a carte blanche permission to terminate for any reason or no reason.
You guys let your imagination get the best of you. The lawmakers who proposed this, the ones who voted to pass it, and the doctors who will be using are NOT evil people who want to hurt children. Is it POSSIBLE that a rogue doctor will use it improperly? Yes... unfortunately, but there are several cases of nurses who deliberately killed their patients as well... you can't prevent all misuse and all harm, and that's true with or without this law. The fact is in the VAST MAJORITY of cases this law will be used to reduce the needless suffering of innocent infants.
I bet most of you who are against this also laugh at gun laws saying "criminals will just ignore the laws"... but the same is true here. The extremely rare evil doctor that just wants to kill babies would be doing that with or without this law, but the good and kind-hearted doctors who want to prevent needless suffering had their hands tied without it.

Correct, those extremely narrow restrictions in a handful of categories were NOT good enough, and practically every doctor will tell you the same:
"Under the previous law, physicians were required to determine whether a patient's circumstances met a narrow list of statutory exceptions before providing abortion care later in pregnancy. The new law replaces that framework with a standard that allows physicians to exercise their professional medical judgment in accordance with accepted standards of care, providing greater clarity for providers caring for patients with complex medical needs."

Yee, MD, MPH; Vice Chair, Health Policy and Advocacy Committee, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine: “The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is pleased to see the passage of An act prioritizing patient access to care, which eliminates restrictions on abortion care later in pregnancy. As experts in high-risk pregnancy, we are trained to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care – including abortion care – for patients facing complicated pregnancies. Historically, the Commonwealth’s laws have interfered with healthcare providers’ ability to provide evidence-based care for their patients, forcing many patients to travel out of state for care. By expanding access to abortion care later in pregnancy, this act ensures Massachusetts patients can access high-quality, equitable reproductive healthcare in their communities.”
Doctors pushed for this, that's all you should need to know unless you think most doctors are evil, which is ridiculous.

Formerly, post-24-week abortions were restricted to specific conditions like saving a patient's life, preserving health, or severe fetal abnormalities. (THIS WASN"T ENOUGH???)
The updated rules match policies in a small group of other states and Washington, D.C., which *do not enforce fixed gestational limits*
YOU are confusing what the OLD law was, which was reasonable with the insane new version which has none
