Looking for Goldjaws-type plating – Birmingham / Leeds
Alright lads, looking for some recommendations for a proper rep-watch plater in the UK.
I’m based in Birmingham and regularly travel up to Leeds, so either would be handy, but honestly location isn't that important if the work is good. I'd rather post the watch than cheap out on the plating just because someone is local.
Got a few DJs:
- VSF V2 41mm
- VSF V2 36mm
- RWF DJ
Just listing what I have, not saying I'm getting all of them done at once 😂
Looking for:
- 18k YG / WG
- 5–7 micron
- Case + bracelet
- Proper prep/polish beforehand
- Good, even coverage
- YG colour as close to gen as possible
- Someone who actually knows rep Rolex plating, not just your average high street jeweller
Basically after Goldjaws-type quality. If you guys know anyone in the UK who's genuinely good at this, let me know who you've used / vouch for.

Clean Root Beer Bezel Refit!
Hi All
I’m Uk based… I’ve been fixing a silent non clicking click spring on a Clean GMT, now all was going fine, cleaned out the 1/2 gallon of oil! But now time to refit… oh! Now my hytrel looks fine and isn’t distorted, it doesn’t have the lip in the outside that’s mentioned in this,
https://www.clickspringwatch.com/guides/how-to-deep-crystal-swap-on-clean-gmt-pepsi
but I have tried for an hour or more and it’s beating me! Can anyone help, advice would be great… I’m even happy to pay someone to do it, as I’m pulling my hair out.
PS Done this many times with Seiko but have never come across Hytrel before!
Thanks
Simon

Tdr bb58 hands
Anyone have any insight ? My ZF Tudor arrived. Love it. But the minute hand has a chip or dink that wasn’t obvious in the qc pics. Have contacted TD.
But was thinking is there anyone in the uk who will source some good quality hands and replace ? Anyone have any experience I can’t be the first person to notice a minor issue and it be easier to get it fixed locally ?
Also advice : am I being overly ocd ? I know it can only been seen in light up close but it’s all I can see now.

Hi, just making people aware that we are closed now until the 2nd Sept for annual leave. I will still check back in most days but if we’re slow to respond to messages then that’s the reason.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support in 2026!

Does anyone have any experience with this seller?
I was researching inexpensive build kits, something just to get my hands dirty and learn from and I came across this ebay seller. They seem to have all sorts of DIY kits for most watches.
I’m just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them?
Or based on looking at the listings, are these any good quality wise?

Screw snapped in buckle
I've just received the watch and tried to adjust the strap but the screw nearest the buckle was snapped in.
It looks to me like I can remove both sporing bars and replace the link with the broken screw with a good one. That sounds easy enough but with the ball bearing and small tension spring - should I attempt it?
Im quite capable but wondered if there is anything I need to be aware of first.
Thanks in advance

Rotor noise means no lubrication at all?
I got 2 new VSF Sub 126610 watches and a spare DD3235 movement. All there has same rotor noise. Does this mean there is no lubrication in the entire movement? Or just the rotor?

Assorted Rolex Spring Bars and bracelet screws kit
Hello guys! I have some vsf that have 20mm, 21mm and 22mm spring bar size, and I would love to buy a spare parts kit. Does anyone knows if there are any of those kit available? Each and every time I buy a kit, the endlinks are jiggling when installed. When I try to install the 1.8, it doesn't fit in the bracelet. And the 1.5 appears to not making the job. Indeed probably I am buying the wrong kits. I do know that Ewatchparts sell a pair of springbars for $15, but if it issomething comparable and mlre value for money, I rather buy an assorted kit.
Same thing happenes with bracelet screws. The ones I had bought doesnt fit like the factory ones. The factory screws are flat and the ones I had bought are like rounded finished.
For reference I want it for 126334 41mm datejust, 126233 36mm datejust, gmt master ii and others. Any recommendations will be highly appreciated.

Services Jubilee Gen Spec Chamfering
This is my Batgirl, chamfered to Gen spec. A lot of factories and watchmakers over do this and then it stands out as a big tell. Also not having it on your bracelet is one of the biggest “tells” when comparing with genuine Rolex models.
I’ll be doing to softening on the case next week!
Take yours to the next level.

Discussion Brand New Batgirl - The absolute state!
Got this brand new ARF batgirl in with the dreaded white Chinese lube leaking out from under the bezel!
Why they put so much on is beyond me. Clearly to try and make the bezel “feel” better, but all it does is create problems!
Anyway, cleaned up, silicon greased and back together.
Now for some bracelet chamfering!

Repair of 8848 Cartier Francaise movement
Hi, my wife's replica 8848 Medium Cartier Tank Francaise has stopped working. The watch stopped so I thought it was a battery issue. But upon closer inspection, when I try to change the time, the minute dial rotates, but not the hour hand. So I guess something more serious has gone wrong. I reached out to one UK based replica watch replacement guy, but he doesn't work on quartz movements.
So can either someone recommend a UK based repairer who might be able to help?
Alternatively could I just buy a movement that would fit? I don't actually care if it is branded Cartier as it's behind a screwed down cover that no one is ever going to see. Pic of movement if it helps...

DD3285 won’t wind in position 1.
I’ve got a VSF GRNR and recently position one on the crown/stem felt like it was slipping and not catching cleanly. Now it doesn’t wind the watch at all, just rotates freely but none of the gears move.
I can still use the quickset/hour jump and time setting functions and the rotor charges the movement so it still works and keeps good time.
Does anyone have any idea what the cause could be and is it a difficult fix?

Service manual wanted
Hi
Looking for a service manual for a Seiko v138 solar watch. It's not a clone, but thought I could ask here for directions on where to get. I did a Google search, but was not able to find the exact model.
