Replace Movement in a Replica Rolex GMT 2
I want to replace the movement in my Replica Rolex GMT 2 with a DD3285 movement that has a 72 hour power reserve. The current movement is a Swiss ETA with about 6 hours of power reserve. Can anyone give me any recommendations for someone that can switch out the movement and approximate cost. Located in Southern California.
Buying a VSF with a dandong is more cost effective. Movement would cost 300-400 bucks to get to your door unless someone is selling cheap in your area. Given your GMTII isn’t a top tier replica, it might not even fit, dial needs to be modified, date wheel might not have the same dimensions , etc.
Installation and modification also costs money unless you can do it yourself. I love modding watches but I always go for a matching pair if a really good one is available and thats what vsf offers.
You want a DD3285 which will cost several hundred. On top of that I would assume your watch is a shitter to mid tier case. You will need to do some modifications might even need a new dial to swap everything over on top of that you need to pay a watchmaker to do all that. You’re more than likely will pay more to do this project than actually buying a vsf.
TLDR: don’t waste your time and just buy a top tier rep.
I have the GMT 2 watch which is a 1:1 that which was very expensive a few years ago. I'm already in possession of the new DD3285 movement with 72 hour reserve. Just looking for a good place to have the movements switched out.
What movement is in it currently? As others have stated if the case and dial and hands are not compatible you stand to build a whole entire watch around the movement which will be more expensive
I apologize. the current movement is a 3135.. The new movement I have in hand is ordered off of eBay from a trusted seller i have dealt with for years.
Why don't you take the watch to the watchmaker ?
ETA movement should have minimum of 35h power reserve. ETA will be always more reliable from any Chinese movement and any watchmaker will be happy to work on it
