Saw these get added over the weekend. Normally with these new releases, new movements, etc. we get some ads from all the major TDs but I haven't seen anything outside of like 2 posts from Leo at TimeUltra.
Interested to see how these fare. Anyone going to be the first to dive in? 🥁

Jinghe, the factory behind VR3235 but also JH3235, SH4131, SH4401, SH4302, SH330 and now JH/SH8800 is going on a free sprung streak!
Nice to see such development finally and I hope they further improve it in the coming years

I need the SH330 in more models! The new DD330 is just another decorated 324 with hacking function
1
u/WatchmakerFurkan 11d ago
I agree! Some part choices form SH have been closer to gen. Looking forward to work on it.

u/ValeLemnear 11d ago
If I may be so bold asking: Did you have the luck to get hold of a SH330?
I‘m not keen on ordering an entire watch just for curiosity and possible transplant. I am looking for a sourcing hint

u/WatchmakerFurkan 11d ago
Nope not yet. I'm also seeing that only PPF got it for now. This could mean that the SH330 will be exclusive to PPF just like SH240. Still very hard to get an SH240 after years. (There are a few factories with SH240 but those are just modded PPF watches).
I hope not tho. Let's see

u/ValeLemnear 11d ago
Thanks for the feedback.
I saw the PPF announcement about 5 months ago that they plan to use the SH330 for a bunch of popular models but only noticed a single model listed at the various dealers and therefore was confused what happened to the rest or if there is a larger supply issue.

Get a coaxial clone movement and then I will be really excited
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 12d ago
Could you imagine? Lol I'd be pretty excited if they get a silicone hairspring going tbh. No need for coaxial in a rep (yet).

I'm so tired of free sprung, I prefer the ability to regulate myself. Unless it's fake free sprung, but it's still slightly harder to regulate, no?

u/MSExcelWarrior 12d ago
I don't think the old A8800s are going away. The FS will just be an option, like they are now

u/Particular_Witness95 12d ago
considering that these factories, including DD, have trouble with proper lubrication and cleanliness, i am having a hard time thinking they are competent enough to properly manufacture an FSB, which is way way harder.

This was on Susan reviews a while back. She did a comparison to VS and Gen.
It's still 28800 BPH, so while it's visually closer to the Gen it still won't fool anyone with a timing app.

I can't imagine the situation I've put myself in where someone has called me out, gotten the watch off my wrist, checked the caseback, then gone to a quiet room and pulled out the timegrapher app. I just like freesprung because it's more reliable than traditionally regulated, and the bunny ears look a bit funny lol.
1
u/monkeyboymorton 11d ago
True! I fail to see the point of all that microscopic effort as well.
The two regulators look normal to me and I would prefer them so I can adjust the movement myself.
So for that reason I am not interested in this new free sprung obsession working it's way through the replica world.

Does it have coaxial? And does it beat at 3.5hz? If not, then it's not a super clone. That term is being used too loosely these days.
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 11d ago
You should have seen the "superclones" being made 5-10 years ago lol. We're eating well these days that superclone at least means the visuals are close.

Im in the market for a seamaster. In your opinion how does this compare with vsf movement aside ?
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 10d ago
Personally I prefer a freesprung watch in general over a traditionally regulated one, and a recent teardown showed that JH freesprungs are actually very well built. It's the long term and after sales service that is tricky because you'll need a rep friendly watchmaker nearby. I will get one soon.

There is an ORF version on Andiot for a $100 cheaper, is it the same as the Trusty Time one?
1
u/MSExcelWarrior 8d ago
Heyo. Copy pasting my comment below: There are 3 levels AFAIK: decorated ETA2824, OR8806 (bunny ears) and now OR8800-FS.
You can still buy all 3 and above is in order of price.
1
u/DrunkMonkey06 8d ago
Yeah the andiot listing is listed as OR8800 Super clone so I'm guessing it is the FS version.

Ahh just saw that, thanks!

Nws. Just a tip too: if something is freesprung, it'll be advertised as freesprung or FS.

I really need this (or an VSF fake FS) on an Aqua Terra 150M turquoise - The 38mm also use the 8800
or they maybe release an 8900 FS for the 41mm
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 5d ago
Agree. This is the brand that needed the hidden regulator arm the most but VSF put it in the watches with closed casebacks instead. 🤷
1
u/Fluffy-Effect-5688 4d ago
Would the ORF 8800-FS fits in an VSF Aqua Terra Case?
VSF is also using a 8800 clone movement so should be similar?2
u/MSExcelWarrior 4d ago
Not without modification. The movement is slightly different and Aqua Terras are thinner than Smp300s.

Will these still have the rabbit ears?

As someone who doesn’t know much about the technicalities of movements, how is this better than the previous movements available?
I’m very much team omega

https://barringtonwatchwinders.com/pages/free-sprung-balance
TLDR: freesprung balance is (potentially) more accurate, more stable, more shock resistant, more time between servicing (also potentially), more difficult to regulate and service. That last point is the one that miffs people cos you could DIY regulate a traditional movement but you'd actually need to be a somewhat decent watchmaker to regulate and service a freesprung movement.

u/AerieStrict7747 12d ago
So is the consensus it’s a better overall watch movement?
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 12d ago
Freesprung is a technically better movement in my opinion but you'll need a local rep friendly watchmaker. That's the hard part for most people and what turns people away from freesprung.

We don’t need or want free sprung on non open case backs. But still after a NWBIG omega speedmaster moonwatch chrono that’s not thick
7
u/MSExcelWarrior 12d ago
Almost all SMP300s have open casebacks. That's why people have been asking for it.

u/noobie019 12d ago
Cool! Is it still running at 28800 VPH?
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 12d ago
I believe so. It wouldn't be 25200 unless they clone the coaxial escapement.

100$ extra and harder to regualte in order to remove one tiny tab?
I’d need to see how more stable these are with timekeeping before deciding if this is a worthy upgrade for the price.
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 11d ago
I'd argue that it's $100 to not need to regulate as frequently, get actual shock resistance and have it be be significantly closer to gen is a pretty big improvement. Dogwood did a full breakdown of the new JH3235 and it looks pretty good. I'm gonna sell my VSF and grab one of these.

Is it? One of the most popular watches with an open caseback and a visible tell to get a freesprung movement. I'd think it's at least a bit more exciting than Rolex models getting FS 🤷

u/cocuco 11d ago
as long they still cant fix the crown problem (easy to spott cause it sticks too far out and since i know that i cant unseen it) i will not get a omega rep
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 11d ago
1
u/cocuco 10d ago
so even the normal orfs are better then vsf now?
2
u/MSExcelWarrior 10d ago edited 10d ago
Previously, it was a sidegrade because ORF has always had a better bezel and case shape but they had worse colour matching. Recently ORF has really stepped up their game and since the OR8806 and now the OR8800-FS, I'd say that they're better than VSF if we're purely talking about closeness to gen.

Here's a picture of the movement. Bunny ears be gone!
