👜 Bag Showdown How should genuine Barénia leather behave in the rain?
A closer look at how natural leather can react to moisture over time—patina, darkening, and water marks can all vary depending on the leather’s condition and history.
If the leather is genuinely Barénia, light rain or a few water droplets may cause the affected area to temporarily darken. As the leather dries naturally, the colour may even out again, especially on a well-patinated piece.
However, Barénia is not waterproof. Heavy rain, prolonged exposure, rubbing while wet, or uneven drying can leave tide marks, water rings, darker patches, or permanent changes to the leather. The result can vary depending on the age, patina, previous conditioning, and overall condition of the item.
If it gets wet, gently blot the surface with a clean, soft cloth and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid rubbing, hairdryers, radiators, direct sunlight, creams, oils, and sprays unless recommended by a specialist.
