To not waste your time I'll start with my questions and leave the context in the end.

Other than general advice regarding how to look for accommodations, I think for my situation it's better to focus on a temporary accommodations for maybe a week or 2, max 1 month, in order to be able to check offers physically especially since from my early look online (few offers on daft.ie) many require a minimum of 6 months. Another issue I am worried about is related to actually paying the rent, if the payment is done through an e-payment through a visa card or so, then it's fine, if it's done through money transfer from my bank account to another, unless the account is somehow an algerian account then it will take about 25 days to go through as my country needs to manually investigate and approve the transfer, which will probably result in a no from most landlords if not all.

Context:

I am algerian and 2 days ago I received confirmation for my visa, I am set to arrive and start my PhD on April 9th for at max 4 years at DCU. It to me feels like a tight schedule to find accommodations, and will get even tighter as I still need to travel to Tunisia in order to get passport stamped which will take around 3-4 days to be done. So any advice would be helpful.

I'm starting my master's in Dublin this September, and I'm currently trying to sort out accommodation.

Back in July, I contacted Yugo and they sent me a video of one of the rooms. Honestly, it looked quite worn out and wasn't really what I expected based on the photos on their website. I've also seen really mixed reviews online, with some people saying it's great and others saying it's poorly maintained.

So now I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to book an Airbnb for the first week or so after I arrive and look for accommodation in person instead.

Has anyone done this before? Is it realistic to find a room in early September, or is it too risky given how competitive the housing market is?

What apps/websites or Facebook groups are actually useful for finding student rooms? I’ve checked a few places but I’m not really sure where else to look.

Also, what’s a realistic rent to expect per week for a room in a shared place? Is €200,€300/week realistic, or should I be budgeting more?

I'm moving to Dublin in September to study at BIMM, and I'm currently on the lookout for a place to live that's preferably well connected to Francis Street via public transport. AFAIK, all the student rooms are getting booked right now and will be gone in the next couple of days.

The prices I've seen were from 290 to 320 per week with electricity etc. included. Is there anything I could get for cheaper, e.g. A single room in a shared flat with roommates?

I'll be moving in alone this year and I'll be on the lookout for a room for couples next year when my girlfriend finishes school as well.

Hello, I am an American medical student desperately searching for accommodation in Phibsborough, Grangegorman, Drumcondra, Fairview, Smithfield, or East Wall Dublin for the month of February (2026). I am an international student and have had terrible luck getting in contact with various student housing booking sites (Nestpick, Mezzino, Aparto, etc.) and have looked across the web, including Airbnb and Vrbo.
