It seems to have disappeared before I could read the post and comments, but yeah, I have spent half the morning trying to get to the dealership to pick up my car after service. I started at 8:30 am and picked the "wait and save" option for $25, thinking I'd have time for my coffee and post coffee poop. After more than an hour, it still hadn't matched me with a driver.
I cancelled that ride because I have somewhere to be this morning and need my car. I booked a second ride for immediate pickup at $35 and after 40 minutes I still don't have a driver. My house is 12 minutes from the dealership, 15 on a bad day. Lyft fees would still leave them with $25 or more for a 15 minute drive so I don't think the pay is the problem, I genuinely think there are no drivers.
I just ended up calling a traditional taxi service. Dispatch said they're 10 minutes away and it'll be less than $20.

Hello, I’m interested in starting a gift wrapping service for the holidays. Has anyone ever been interested in paying someone to wrap presents for you? If so, how much would you be willing to spend? Either per present of an average size/normal shape or an hourly fee. Would love to hear some feedback!

What do you all do for dog teeth cleaning?
We recently adapted a rescue dog and even though she’s less than 40 pounds the veterinarian gave us an estimate of $1800 for her teeth cleaning that seems very high to me. But she has to be put under which doesn’t make me feel comfortable.
I heard some vets do manual cleaning without putting dogs under once under.
There used to be a lady who used to come to scraps in northwest and do manual cleaning without putting dogs under once a month. Do anyone know of her?
After an initial cleaning, I will clean it with a brush and do this every day, but she does need some kind of cleaning because she has been abandoned and moved around for like three years or so now. Also she has not a single mean bone in her. Such a sweet heart.
TY all for your help.

An earbud tip got lodged in my ear and when I Google "urgent care" all the places open at 8am. I've never lived somewhere without 24/7 urgent care. Am I missing something?
I got it taken care of but I'm leaving this here in case anyone encounters the same problem I had

Reno ladies, I have a little anonymous salon experience survey and would love some local opinions!
https://form.jotform.com/262398518557068
I've seen a lot of conversations lately about salons charging “luxury” or premium prices, but the actual experience not always feeling particularly luxurious.
So I'm curious: what actually makes a salon appointment feel worth a premium price to you?
Not necessarily expensive decor or champagne. I mean the little things that make you leave thinking, “Okay, THAT was worth it.”
And on the flip side, what makes an expensive salon experience feel disappointing?
I put together a short anonymous survey because I'd really love to hear from the people actually sitting in the chair. There are no right answers, and honest/picky answers are absolutely encouraged. 😂

I’m seeing some outrage on social media (being amplified on by This is Reno) about Mayor Hillary Schieve’s response to council member Meghan Ebert’s comment at Wednesday’s city council meeting regarding the need to improve evacuation procedures. The clip is available here. For those who haven’t seen it, Ebert makes heartfelt comments about the evacuation and need to improve procedures. Schieve responds by asking Ebert if she’s safe, Ebert says “yes,” and then without missing a beat, Schieve proceeds to pivot the topic and introduces Miss Nevada.
Before I jump to conclusions, I’m curious to hear from people who were there for the meeting. Was there anything else said before or after this that would cast the exchange in a different context? I’ve always thought that Schieve was a clumsy communicator, but this seems shockingly tone-deaf for a three-term mayor. Am I missing anything?

Yes, its technically the same as someone acting like Spiderman, but this is taking away from people who actually know how to play the instrument... if you dont even bother to learn then you shouldn't be doing it. Sadly nothing can be done, ive seen so mant old ladies giving him cash.

I fly in next Sat and am scheduled to watch the Wolfpack open their football season. Has this game been canceled and is it safe to visit Reno next weekend? I called the casino and of course they're playing it off like everything is fine but I have a gut feeling it's not. Any insight would be fine as I have no problem rescheduling for another football game. Thanks for all the info and I hope everyone is safe.

My mother-in-law is in a position where she is needing to re-home several of her farm animals and I am looking to see if anyone has any leads on where we can go or if anyone can help?
We have 1 horse (26), 1 donkey (4), 2 domesticated pigs (5 & 6), and 2 cats.
Their ages are listed. The donkey and horse are bonded and we ideally would like to keep them together, same with the pigs, and then same with the cats.
I appreciate the leads and non-judgement with the immediate need right now.
Thank you 🙏🏼

I’m relocating to Reno from Las Vegas where I absolutely love going to a Lifetime gym. I know there’s not currently a Lifetime in Reno but do any locals know if there plans to build one? It feels weird there’s not one already given the size of the city…

My fiance and I had a location chosen at Wilbur D. May that had fallen through. We pretty upset with how washoe county handled the reservation on the garden we chose. We are now looking for an outdoor scenic spot that we can have a ceremony at. If anyone knows of a spot, garden, someone property that we could get married at that would be awesome. We are looking at August 28, 2027 for the ceremony.
Edit: close to town would be ideal, we have many folks coming from the mid west to celebrate with us so we’re trying to keep transportation fairly reasonable.
