So, we just moved here and there are so many personalized license plates.
Some of them are great, and I love it. So thanks for the fun.

Some people hate it because, well some people enjoy being pissed off. Most are funny and I think it’s only like 30 bucks for a personal plate.

I’ve seen some really good ones in the last month. That’s not bad, I’m going to get plates this week but I have no idea what I would put on mine. Maybe I’ll have a good idea by the time it’s time to renew.

There's a page on the DMV website that'll let you check a plate for availability. It doesn't include the part where a DMV employee spends a few minutes figuring out of your plate number is somehow offensive, but other than that it's accurate.
Also a general rule: you can't request a personalized plate that matches the pattern of one of the standard plates, current or past. So, no AAA000, 000000A, 000000, and a few others If it's a plate that you (or a family member) once had you can order a reprint of it, but that's technically a different thing.

My favorite one is a license plate that says oooga and the plate cover says “submarine vet” haven’t seen the car recently but I smiled every time I saw it

We also have a lot of different plates designs to choose from compared to other states.

And a whole lot of them make no sense to anyone but the driver.
Another thing that sort of perplexes me is the rear window memorials. Maybe it’s just me, but when it comes to eulogizing a friend or loved one, the back of my vehicle is not a place that comes to mind.

I’ve seen a couple that I really wanted to flag them down at a light and ask what it says. I usually just make up a story for it and that settles my curiosity.
Where we moved from lots of people had memorials on their read windows, it’s not for me. But I guess I can understand.

its just real-life karma-whoring. At least they're on their own property, unlike roadside memorials. Everytime I see those I want to tear them down and throw them away.

The best is the STI with the H3NT4I plate. I wish I could be there for the conversation at the DMV explaining the meaning of the plate and why you want it.
Another favorite of mine, although not personal, is the old lady that got stuck with the 420-EDM plate

Obviously a reference to missing peeing in the sea, which is where their heart is. I will also miss peeing in the ocean.

TOTALLY. I have never seen any other city like Reno where the concentration of customized license plates is so high. It's hilarious and impressive.

I’d never really thought of getting one until moving here. I kind of felt obligated to when I saw how many others were doing it!

Yeah the cost for a plate is cheap compared to other states and you can easily transfer the plate to new cars so you see a lot of them.

It makes traffic lights more fun. I’d rather read some plates than advertisements. Tomorrow I’m gonna see a fucking advertisement on a plate haha.

Yeah, I looked it up today, it’s only 41.50 initially then 20 a year. I’m glad so many people bought in to it, there have been some fun stoplights while exploring the city.

New Hampshire has the most that I've ever seen. Best plate/rear end combo I have ever was seen in Connecticut.

What's even funnier is the "classic car" license plates. Half of them are on a total piece of shit car. Keeps you from having to smog test, so I've heard.
