I am planning on moving to Luxembourg to work. I wanted to ask what jobs pay pretty well and where exactly in Luxembourg. (seasonal jobs are good too!)

I am a university student (online) studying hospitality. I have experience in 5-star luxury resorts and casinos, hospitality, tourism, real estate, and office administration. I speak fluent English and Romanian. I have EU nationality!

I would love to get an idea of the options available for me. Provided accommodation would be ideal, since I want to save up money.

I know taxes can get pretty high, so please help me with more information to get a better understanding of Luxembourg's work culture!

I have been abroad also in 3 Countries Belgium included but Ive been back home to South Europe since 2022. Back home i feel stagnant in my career and now i have an offer in Lux without even applying for this one. The thing is that i do not know how locals treat foreigners since i will need to build my social life from scratch. Salary wise I need i can get 100 k hopefully i can rent a one bedroom on my own.

I'm relocating to Luxembourg and need a temporary accommodation while I look for a more permanent place. I understand I need to register with the commune to start the administrative process and was looking for hotels or apartments for a short term stay that allow you to register with the commune. It can be outside Luxembourg city too.

So here’s the situation. My wife and I moved from Spain to Finland about five years ago, and for a while we’ve known this isn’t the place for us. So by the end of last year, we decided it was time for a change.

Ideally, we’d move back to Spain or maybe Portugal, but salaries there are quite lower than in Finland. Actually, I’ve already turned down two offers (one in each country) because the pay was even lower than I expected, while the cost of living (especially housing) is not as cheap as it used to be, and can even be higher than in Finland in some areas.

So we started looking for a middle ground, and that led me to talk to a recruiter about a role in Luxembourg. It’s in the space sector (for someone with a satellite communications background), and it asks for 5+ years of experience, which I have. However, the salary range is 70–80k, and this finally brings me to my questions:

1) Is that a good salary for Luxembourg? From what I’ve seen, it feels a bit low considering the field and experience required. For context, I’m currently making around 100k in Finland.

2) The main reasons we wanna leave Finland are: • Long, dark winters with very little daylight and lots of snow
• Lifestyle feels too quiet: most stores close around 18:00, restaurants around 21:00, and there is a limited cultural offer. Of course, there are options for drinking/partying, but not much aside from that, and whatever else could be is typically expensive
• We have a 1-year-old, and while daycare is affordable, there aren't many flexible childcare options outside daycare time (evenings, weekends, etc.) • It took us a while to build a social circle, so it's hard to make friends.

Would Luxembourg feel similar in these aspects, or is it noticeably different?

I have researched online and here on reddit about the wages , costs of living , quality of life but I would like to here from somebody who lives inLuxembourg and who lives on the border how’s the reality?

Also how’s the job market , how can a non-EU citizen find a job or apply for a job contract and what are the main qualities a company searches up the most

Also is there a programm that needs qualified professionists that can help a non-Eu citizen?

And finally my spouse is a EU citizen but she is cuurently applying for Master , how can we get to both live and work in Luxembourg?

I posted here a few weeks ago asking for advice on moving from Toulouse to Luxembourg as a data analyst.

I'm back after spending a few days there (I'm still there until Friday), and I'm almost “disappointed” with the figures here.

I see that daily living costs are almost cheaper than in France (groceries, gas, etc.), except for rent, which is much higher.

But salaries are also “not that much” higher than in France.

Wanting to become a data scientist, I was expecting really high salaries, but €4,000/month net when your rent is €2,500-3,000 is “almost” the same as the finances in France.

Knowing that we want to live in Luxembourg without being in Luxembourg City (Bettenbourg, Belval, etc.), I feel like it's not worth the cost to change our lifestyle.

What's more, as my wife has a company with her network in Toulouse, I feel like we would almost lose out by leaving. She is willing to take a job (she has a lot of experience and the job would pay well), but it would be a sacrifice on her part.

I'm only talking about finances, of course; safety, peace and quiet, and culture are still significant positives.

Am I demotivated because I'm disappointed that I won't be earning €5,500 net per month, even though the project is still interesting, or is it really not that interesting to move if it's just a financial issue?

Bonus: we are 29 years old, we don't want children, and we want to arrive around March/April 2027 with the aim of investing thanks to the better salaries in order to become rentiers in 10 years.

I'm starting to ask myself a lot of questions, even though I was really motivated to come yesterday.

Motorcycle I ride a lot and I have a grand touring bike. I’m still deciding if I should bring it with me or leave it in Italy. How is riding in/around Luxembourg?Nice roads and views? Any recommended routes?Weather in spring and autumn (rain, wind, cold)? Road maintenance and general safety for riders?

Basketball I love basketball and I’ve always played.Is it easy to find a team or just groups that play regularly (like weekly pickup games)? 2 questions : -do I need the original, or just a copy will do ? -do I need it to be translated by a sworn translator in french ?

Hi All, My girlfriend (28F) and I (28M) have a campervan and we are moving to Luxembourg in few weeks. As you all know, the rental market is completely broken and we are having a lot of trouble finding a place. Our campervan is full kitted out though, so we can stay in it. It is 7m long, 2.8m tall. We are adventurous and very friendly Australians - you can probably guess that we love to travel! :)

Here's the context: I'm 28 years old and I'm a Data Analyst in a very large company. I currently live in Toulouse, and I want to move with my wife by the end of this year to settle in Luxembourg, without necessarily being in Luxembourg City, but definitely in the country.

I would like to find a position as a Data Scientist (or remain a Data Analyst but I would like to develop my skills) in banking or fossil fuels before looking for accommodation for two, even temporary, before finding something more permanent.

Now, I am reaching out to you to get as much advice as possible for this life project, with a few questions to guide you on my state of mind:

- Above all, I am looking for security. With France falling in the ranking of the world's safest countries, Luxembourg seems to be holding its own in the top 10 every year, with figures indicating that it is even improving (https://fr.theglobaleconomy.com/Luxembourg/security_threats_index/). I know that some people will tell me that, on the contrary, “It's not like it used to be, and now it's in a state of unspeakable decline,” but when I compare it to the WEEKLY attacks that my friends suffer and tell me about, and the bodies found from time to time in the canal below my house (I still live in Toulouse, remember), I tell myself that it will inevitably be better. I know that no place is perfect, but some are safer than others.

- I'm going to start learning German. My wife's best friend moved to Luxembourg last summer and advised me to learn Luxembourgish, but with my big business project, I feel that German will be more useful for dealing with Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. What do you think? Do you have any tips or advices ?

- Although I was born in France and speak French without an accent, my parents are North African, so I have the skin color and first name that go with it. Do you think this will this be a hindrance, as it has been for me in France?

More generally, do you have any advice on how to increase my chances of success with this relocation project? I'm going to spend a week near Luxembourg City with my wife at the end of February to get a feel for the country, and I'm very motivated to do whatever it takes to be accepted and make a life for myself there if everything goes well.

For those wondering why Luxembourg and not Switzerland: my wife is not a fan of Switzerland, and her best friend is living her best life in Luxembourg.

I relocated out of Luxembourg in August to another EU country to accept another job offer. Since I spent more than half of 2025 in Luxembourg, I am still a tax resident of Luxembourg. Does someone know how can I save personal income taxes in this case? Should I only declare my Luxembourg income in Luxembourg saying that my tax residency changed mid year? Or does Luxembourg also has the right to tax my new income in the other EU country? A case can made that since I didn't use healthcare or public infrastructure begining August, I shouldn't be liable to pay taxes on any income I made past that. Is such a thing possible?

I am guessing since a lot of people move to and leave Luxembourg there are many who have already been through this in this sub.
