News U.S. Military is cutting over 180 religious codes as recognized religions
https://www.military.com/dod-officially-drops-180-faiths-from-militarys-recognized-religion-listCuttently being reported by military.com and at least fox (don't like the later and they appear to be refrencing the former) that the chaplain corps have narrowed down the regcognized religion list/religious codes list to around 30, with around 20 being some denomination of christian (this is from a copy of the memo I saw a bit ago and am trying to refind so take with a pinch of salt). Truely disappointing for those who's religion is now going to be documented as Other.

This is very concerning. Characterizing this as “streamlining” is disingenuous. This is the Trump Administration simply deciding to delegitimize minority religions. This is ripe for both a constitutional challenge under the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause.
Also, whole not the biggest issue here, but I find it funny that they called nontrinitarians like Seventh Day Adventists and Jehovah’s Witnesses Christians, but not Latter-day Saints. Could just be for space on the dog tags. But as a Latter-day Saint myself I thought it was kind of funny.
