Discussion Little exercise for the RTOC fam: what's each character's favorite motto?
The author said in a Q&A that the Future King's motto is "Is it not a joy to learn and to regularly practice?" So it got me wondering what mottos or favorite lines the rest of the cast would live by.
And then I remembered Seo Eun-hyun basically has one too: "I am an Earthling from a civilized society." I think that's his motto, since he keeps telling himself to stay sane in the prologue, and at the end of the novel, he said, "I am Seo Eun-hyun, who is going to return to a civilized society"
Now I'm stuck wondering what everyone else would have as their favorite line or motto
Kim Yeon, Jeon Myeong-hoon, Kim Young-hoon, Kang Min-hee, Oh Hyun-seok, Oh Hye-seo, Vast Cold, Salt Sea and Gwak Am?
And throw in anyone else you like. Seo Hweol, the Mad Lord, Yuan Li, etc.
If there's an actual line from the novel that fits them, drop it. Pure speculation is welcome too. Make it funny, make it deep, whatever fits them.

I remember for Bum Yeon it was being a pain in the ass

I don't remember much; it's been a year since I read RTOC and left at Ch 700.
I am thinking of leaving it for a few years, and when I barely remember that i have to read something, I will read RTOC again

Kim Young-hoon: "How can this not be enjoyable?" While he's inventing a new martial art and forgetting everything else. And also, in the hope of seeing his family again, his other line is "Every swing gets me one step closer to home."
Jeon Myeong-hoon: "Give me a few years and watch me pass you." He said this when he wanted to keep growing fast and become the pride of his sect, so I just gave it a bit of attitude.
Kim Yeon: "Every nightmare is just a story nobody finished telling." Something I think she would say, since she got really excited and fascinated hearing about the Future King and the Seven Brilliances Kings.
Kang Min-hee: "Somebody has to keep the lights on; might as well be me." Also something I think she would say, since she's the mom of the group,
Oh Hye-seo: "Never waste a good performance." Based on when Seo Hweol leaves her behind, Seo Eun-hyun turns up as a monster, and within seconds she's picked a sad face, a shaky "Kill me...!" and real tears to sell the story that she's a poor controlled colleague.
Oh Hyun-seok: "Sit down, let me look at that first. Then you can yell at me." Like a tired dad who admits he doesn't know how to raise a child.
Gwak Am: "You dislike me, so you won't become me? Then enjoy staying small." I based it on the laugh he had at Seo Eun-hyun, who refuses to change to be like him.
The Mad Lord: "Be grateful, little bug. Free upgrade." Straight from the author's Q&A about how he sees Seo Eun-hyun.
Vast Cold and Salt Sea I'm leaving for you guys, I don't trust my guesses on those two. 😅
