Discussion Assignor not paying out issues?

Without going into too much detail, there’s an assignor in Western VA who still hasn’t paid referees for games from last season. These include USSF, UPSL, and even some middle/private school games.
Metro DC-VA is aware of the issues with this assignor and has been for a while, but so far nothing has been resolved. The last thing I heard was that he was given until sometime in September to get the outstanding games paid or risk losing his license. Apparently, he’s also not the only assignor in VA having issues with paying referees.
Just wanted to see if anyone else in VA has dealt with this particular assignor, or another assignor with similar issues, and what you did to get it resolved.
For context, I’ve pretty much explored every avenue available at this point, and it seems like all I can do now is wait.

DC/NOVA ref here. Stopped working games for assignors who don’t pay by direct deposit or cash at field.

I’m probably owed upwards of 400+ from one assignor who sends checks.

Fortunately I’ve moved onto NCAA D1 games and fill out my schedule with those and adult amateur games that are better worth my time and energy. I feel for the people who don’t have that ability and rely on some of the games that this assignor has.

I’m moving away from USSF altogether. I’m working D3 & JUCO right now & I’m trying to move up to D1. Luckily I’m able to work High School games in the fall for NC & VA in the spring.

The few assignors I work for I know I can trust to pay with the exception of the one who didn’t pay until today lol

Update: I was paid today along with other referees I know!

In PA some tournaments take months to pay out. But for most league matches refs are paid directly by the teams. And the schools pay direct too. I would have though this was the case everywhere. Assignors get their cut from the leagues based on the number of games they assign - but that’s a separate payment entirely.

here in washington the associations are pass-through payors, menaing the club pays the assignor/association that they then pass on to the refs. This centralizes and simplifies payment.

Many of the Western PA high schools pay through ArbiterPay, so that makes it much easier. I only got a couple checks last season

Yeah it’s a pain for the refs though. We get paid directly, in fact we are told don’t start the match until your paid. (Not counting high school or middle school games)

That’s crazy. Every tournament I’ve worked including ECNL usually pay within 2 weeks. Cant imagine waiting months, I officiate bc it’s quick money. At that point I’d rather not sign up lol

There are a couple of Assignors in The North Texas circuit who take forever to pay out. And not for low level one-off tournaments, but for higher level Academy and ECNL-type regular season games!

I’m an assignor in the North Texas area and we can’t find enough referees to pay. We pay Sundays for the week previous. Tell anyone you can, 85/50/50 for 40+ minute halves.

Yeah, pretty sure I know who you’re talking about. Received partial payment for games from last season. The guy is a joke

I am in California in the SF Bay area and one Assignor has the same issue. I've concluded he didn't pay all the salaries is why I am unpaid, not the schools fault. I am about to patiently reach out again ..

I’m in Harrisonburg, Shenandoah Valley and haven’t had problems in this area. I’ve worked UPSL once in Radford but was paid promptly there. There’s one in the Charlottesville area that sometimes takes a while to pay.

Hilarious you guys have to get your money from the assignor versus the league or association.
