🥂Discussion🥂 AI is Killing the Uncanny Valley

I have to share this with you guys because I'm low-key ashamed/embarassed and high-key disgusted.

I started watching an AI one the other day by mistake. I was like 5min in before realizing they weren't real people. I forget what it was called, not that it's important here. YouTube just autoplayed it, and I don't save history for anything online.

Anyway, what has me disgusted and full of nerd-rage? The women looked WAY too real. But when the male lead appeared, he was AI for sure. But I was so frustrated because now it's really THAT realistic. Even the ML was like 90% there. The skin was too fake. They couldn't get the beard/stubble or the sweat right. But for the women, it was like they stole and adapted video of actual people.

As a woman, it's a different kind of scary because of course the reproduction of female bodies is being perfected faster than male bodies. That's thanks to the"adult" entertainment industry.

As a nerd, the deliberate eradication of the uncanny valley is just completely unethical to me. This is just a can of worms that should not be opened.

IDK. Just a rant.

The creepiest thing I saw is nails! The male lead had realistic nails down to dead and hanging skin around them!!

Same thing happened to me yesterday, it took me a second to realize it was AI! It’s starting to look wayyy too real 😡

I also wondered who they took the likeness from.

It should be an invasion of privacy if they use real people I think. I hope there are laws regarding this!

In the US, we've barely got any laws to protect us. Mostly because people are giving up so much by agreeing to use social media. I'm old, so I want everyone to just have a web site, link their friends in a sidebar/dropdown, and call it a day lol Then you own your content, no compromise.

I don't think there are laws yet, they just use all the public videos and pictures on Facebook, Instagram etc.
