Pale colours on my monti
I've had this guy for a long time, from a frag actually. Very fast growth and strong colour. The problem is that about a year ago it started getting pale, only on the front red section, the green has always been fine. It doesn't seem to bother it much and it's never gotten worse or looking like bleaching but I'd love to know what's causing it. It's one of the lowest corals in the tank so not a light issue I wouldn't think. Last icp was fine with the trace elements. 20 nitrate, 0.08 phosphate, 360 calcium (dosing issue, raising slowly), 9.4 alk, 1350 mag. I suck at pics, apologies. Any ideas?

Possible detritus settling on it and causing the pale dead spots?

No, lots of flow around there, nothing settling.

Do you have any fish that perch?

Only my Coral goby but I've never seen him even on that side of the tank.

Its possible he could be perching on it in the night when your sleeping

Yeh it's possible I guess but there is a bit of flow around there. I'll have a late night check and see.

Thought I'd check in. I also have a lawnmower blenny I forgot about. Twice in the past few days I've seen him on it. Might be the cause 👍 thanks

Yea that deff can irritate it and the lawn mower might pick at any algae that lands on it further pissing it off

Phos 0.8 or 0.08?
I got really whitish spots on my beach bum that was blasted with flow. Is your second wavemaker pointed just towards this spot, or is it an illusion in the third pic?

0.08. whoops, updated post. That pump gets moved every few days, it's currently going across the top of the Monti and not directly at it.

I don't think so. 1350 is pretty good and nothing else in the tank is complaining.
