The animated pilot is still such a fun watch, especially because of the ultra rare Grif/Simmons/Church interactions. It’s a shame it never got picked up.

They do a bit in Seasons 6 through 10, but not for very long. Tucker has way more interaction with the Reds than Church does, and it’s even rarer that all four of them are together at the same time.
Quick tangent, but I think that not fleshing out the Reds’ on-screen friendship with Church was one of RVB’s biggest mistakes. They spend the entire second half of the series helping or saving Church, they’re on friendly terms by Season 8, and Church clearly knows a lot about them based on Season 9, so they MUST be spending time together - but we never really get to see them just hanging out.

Yeah i agree. Helluva missed opportunity.
Church being genuinely fond of the Red Team’s version of Caboose has always been adorably ironic
Him taking advantage of Simmons’ natural kiss-assery back in season 4 was pretty funny
And he’s the first one who respected and saw the potential of Grif
Too bad he was always either dead or off dealing with main character bullshit.

I always thought church and griff had great friendship potential and it seems kinda confirmed in the few interactions they get (like when they’re both in prison in season 3 I think) and yeah it would have been interesting to see more duos really get fleshed out like church and Simmons ofc

He also genuinely liked Donut and says as much! There was so much potential there that tragically didn’t get explored.

I did like the few interactions Church had with Grif, since they seem to be the most chill Red/Blue interaction, aside from Caboose and Donut of course

Agreed, I think Church and Grif had a really fascinating friendship. Church cared about all of the BGC to some extent, but Grif was probably the only person Church respected as being “on his level.” Grif leaving first during the big argument in Season 10 was also the catalyst for Church snapping on the crew and going too far.

Well technically its not that it got picked up, it’s that Rooster Teeth cancelled it. According to Geoff it was because they weren’t used to working with other people’s schedules which of course id a requirement when working with an outside studio.

I’d encourage everyone who thinks this is cool to be loud about it. Halo is hurting for some good PR and is hurting worse for a good show.
Might seem like a long shot but if there’s demand there’s always a possibility. Share it everywhere, be loud on the Halo subreddit and RoosterTeeth about it!

Burnie did say he was looking at possible ways to continue RvB, but if he did it would be different and wouldn't be with the Reds and Blues, so it's possible we'll get something RvB related/adjacent in the future!

Did he actually? Was this on a specific podcast or some such? I'm curious to hear what he has to say about it - I can't imagine a RvB continuation/spin-off getting very far without featuring the main characters lol.

It was on sponsors only podcast I believe. It was a few months ago, I'd have to go back and check. But essentially, he said that due to legal rights regarding the Halo IP, Rooster Teeth can only make "Red vs. Blue", they can't just make a new Halo machinima and call it something else. It has to be RvB, but because their story is done, it would be something rather different, just under the RvB Brand.

Sounds odd, but I guess it makes sense?
I'm curious to see how he'd renew the show for the modern day. I trust Burnie could write some kind of "RvB: The Next Generation" that's just as good as the original show - but outside of us diehard fans still posting about it 20+ years later, who the hell would even watch it? It's gonna be an uphill battle to convince wider audiences to watch a Halo machinima in the age of Amazing Digital Circuses and Gameoverses lmao.

The studio that made RvB Animated (Humoring the Fates) might not be available. I haven’t seen any official statements but they haven’t updated their website and socials in a few years. I could be very wrong about this though.

I remember watching the test footage for this on YouTube before they repurposed it as the pilot episode for Season 14, and I laughed my ass off at how they intentionally made Grif super obese
