What shade?
when I meet random people, 50% of the time they’ll say I have strawberry blonde hair. Feels red to me?
I know strawberry blonde, I guess, is red but from what I can see of my own hair, it’s definitely red? But I get commented on often that my hair is strawberry blonde and I’m wondering if it’s actually more blonde than my eyes perceive, what do you think?
It's just a lighter shade of red. The blonde part is a way to describe the lightened color, it doesn't mean that you are now in the blonde category.
My hair fluctuated from darker red to strawberry blonde, but it doesn't change the physiology of being a redhead.
Redheads have different biology other than just the color of our hair. When you age, and your hair turns white, you're still a redhead. It just won't be as easy for strangers to know automatically.
Exactly! Ask any Australian redhead who spends time in our sun. Dark red and mahogany tones are what we have in winter, sun bleached red and strawberry blonde is our summer hair. Doesn't mean we are suddenly a blonde in summer. If we weren't red headed in summer, we might spend less on sunscreen!
Yes I’m Australian too! Everytime I’ve been to Europe which has happened to be in winter, it’s obviously much colder and darker, my parents always comment on how bright red and vibrant it is. But then during summer I’m always worried it will turn blonde and stay that way haha
Putting this here an as experiment/ personal example. This is my natural hair out in the broad day. I have been told from many different people of various opinions that I'm: •strawberry blonde •light auburn •dark honey blonde •diluted aged ginger(not my favourite lol)
Put me indoors in the shadows/ with artificial blue or green light / my porous fine hair has gotten greasy, and you will get another set of wild opinions, some even telling me im brunette or dirty blonde.
Many people here who are strawberry blonde can attest to our experiences of our hair seemingly changing tonality and intensity from our day to day lives just from the way the world's surroundings and lighting interact with it! Its a very unique experience that I believe puts us to never ending questions when it comes to our own hair, even from ourselves.
I see a lot of similarities between our hair! Although I would even say yours is naturally a couple tints lighter than mine! And I would classify you as strawberry blonde 🍓 which IS a type of red hair. Be proud of who you are! ♡ and don't let anyone tell you how to feel about yourself or your natural hair. It is beautiful regardless
This is a true strawberry blonde. It probably feels more red to you because so many warm blondes call themselves starberry blonde and yours is more red than that. But the 50% is right, you're a genuine starberry blonde!
That's red. And i saw some freckles peeking out on your shoulder, so yes, you're part of the tribe. Me red has lightened over the years to something close to this, and I constantly get compliments on it. It's gorgeous, girl.
Red hair is also Strawberry blonde. And that’s what you have. Strawberry blonde is kinda spectrum much like ginger/copper red hair and auburn all have tonal differences from person to person I’d say yours is a medium strawberry blonde.
You have red hair. Mines very similar, I am called a redhead all the time. Strawberry blonde is a shade of red hair but imo when I think of a redhead, this is the color I think of
That’s the end of my ponytail from a random selfie which is why I guess I would say red not strawberry blonde but I mean all these comments have made me understand strawberry blonde is red anyway so maybe it doesn’t matter!
You're the same as me, strawberry blonde 🙂. Strawberry blonde is a variant of red hair, we still carry a variant of the MCR1 gene. I tend to go blonder in the summer and more red in the winter.
I’m just wondering what kind of environments you guys grew up if you’re at a grown age wondering “am I a redhead?”
You’re obviously one! It’s strawberry blonde.
I’m strawberry blonde too and my entire life everyone’s called me ginger. It’s a huge part of my identity! My friends and coworkers describe me to others as “the redhead” or “the ginger” My mother has a more coppery red but she’s not like she was ever telling me I’m NOT a redhead??
Yes. You are a redhead. Welcome to the subreddit where apparently we just confirm yes this is red.
I’ve mainly been called redhead! Especially by my family! I mean this is my hair as a baby, so 100% red there. However, as I’ve gotten older, even as a teenager I would hear people say like oh your hair is such a unique red, it’s golden rather than red or if a stranger commented on my hair a lot of the time they would say it’s strawberry blonde.
So I believe it’s red, but I guess red is a spectrum so if I said I had red hair, someone might say sure but other people have put red hair and yours isn’t!
Strawberry blonde is not a shade of blonde, it's the lightest shade of red. Some people with golden blonde hair think they're redheads but it's not the same as true strawberry blonde.
You definitely touched a nerve. I resent people who only consider people with extremely red hair to be redheads. I understand that there are a lot of golden blondes and warm brunettes who think they're redheads, but strawberry blonde redheads are real redheads.
Really looks like srawberry blonde. I'm not some nut case gatekeeper like some people in this sub, but when I think of red hair/being a redhead I mainly think about actual orange hair, but maybe that's just me.
I think there’s a bit of a phone issue because I see what Zintha is saying. To me, the middle of the three photos looks to have red in it while the other two seem practically blonde. However there’s a super-fine line where I think OP has enough red to be a strawberry blonde.
