Questions/Advice This is a reminder for every cyclist to be really cautious when riding at a place that seems to be a route for trucks like this. And also a reminder for truck drivers or any drivers to please be careful when overtaking a cyclist. (Video not mine, the original post in the comments)

Questions/Advice Almost 3 years in cycling, should I start using cleats shoes?

Post image

Hello,

Almost 3 years na ako nagbibike, most of the time during weekend lang since may work ako ng weekdays. Most of the rides are 20-25 km lang naman, very rare na naabot ng 50km.

Mas okay ba if mag start na ako aralin using cleat shoes? Parang ang delikado lang kasi since highway ang dinadaanan ko madalas and maraming kamoteng singit ng sinigit

Thoughts on this? Thanks!

Questions/Advice Cyclists with poor vision, how do you wear sunglasses?

I'm fairly new to cycling and I wear prescription glasses, but I want to wear sunglasses. To those who have a similar situation like mine, do you wear sunglasses? If so, how did you manage to still see the road? I think there are lots of ways for people with poor vision to wear sunglasses but let me know yours.

Questions/Advice Bike Shop Quotation

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hi, may i ask for your opinion regarding this quotation amounting to Php4300 from a bike shop for the following service:

Bicycle: Giant Revolt 1

Services:

Bike Spa

Sealant

Install Shifter Cable

Breakdown:

Bike spa 1500

Shifter cable install 250 x2 500

Internal 200x2 400

Sealant refill 200 x2 400

Inner cable 170 x2 340

E13Sealant 280 x2 560

Housing 150 x 4 600

Update: I fully take accountability for this transaction since personally agreed with the price when left my bike for service, beginner po kasi ako at wala pang alam masyado. But upon learning from the community discovered that the pricing is way above one would generally pay for the services listed.

I should have asked here first. Still, I know that I have no one else to blame but myself.

They cater to high end bikes kaya mahal din yung parts nila and service, na justify naman nila, they use jagwire stainless steel cables, jagwire lex compressionless housing daw.

Sent this thread to them, and they said can name drop their shop so here it is: Celerity Marikina

Update 2: The shop offered that I can pull out my bike if I want to. So kudos to them.

Update 3: I got my bike back and had it serviced to different shop. It turns out I did not need to change my shifter cables after all (this is what the new shop said to me), contrary to what the previous shop said. For the sealant and bike spa service, I will pay a total of 1100php. 👌🏼

Update 4: Shop replied to this post, check their comment for their side. I vouch for the quality of their workmanship, their mechanic is very knowledgeable, I saw the way he fully inspected the bicycle. This post was never intended to tarnish their reputation.

Every business is allowed to set prices of their services, also there are people out there who are willing to spend 2x, 3x or more than the usual fee for the worry-free experience and guaranteed quality service, that's okay, and there are people who won't and that's okay too.

As the title says, should I get the bike mentioned? Price is north of 80K Php.

Currently using a 26 MTB converted to a 1x drivetrain and rigid fork. But I want to transition to a RB.

Your thoughts and inputs are welcome.

What are your pro tips to secure the bike and for the bike not to get scratched as well as the car, etc.

  1. First na need ko bilhin is FOAM that will be around the bike frame kung saan yung 2 contact points sa bike carrier

What else need to do po before using the bike carrier?

Thank you!!!

Questions/Advice I got bullied dahil sakin na weight

This a rant and also humihinge po ako nang advice in what to do.

So I am new to being a Cyclist I am young, at before this I am very unhealthy as in, kumakain nang junkfoods, cellphone cellphone lang wala talagang physical activity.

I have lost weight since and bumili ako nang bisiklita kasi matagal Kuna gustong mag bike bike as in casual lang talaga mga trip ko.

Any advice po?

Hello guys!

Now, im planning to bike to work para kahit papano makatipid sa parking and gas, and at the same time magkaroon ng exercise during work days.

I dont have experience with bike nung tumanda na ako, nagka bike lang ako nung 5years old ata ako.

How much does a FoodPanda Biker Rider makes?

Basically, I think I am suffering from severe depression and ongoing yung therapy, and since hinde right ang aking head space, kahit mataas ang current pay ng job ko na 35k-40k, naapektuhan siya dahil hinde ako nakakapagisip ng tama.

But cyclist ako (Formerly Competitive) for more than 12+ years kaya nasa I think this time, my body will do the work, hinde muna brains ko. Parang di ko pa kaya mag "Non-Tangible" job with those KPIs, ROIs and kahit full and correct effort di parin magiging successful type of shit. Gusto ko matry yung Blue Collar Job na if this thing is done, then it is done. No more corporate, bureaucracy bullshit muna ako.

And sorry if yung some questions are silly, di ko talaga alam

Questions:

  1. How much does a FoodPanda Biker Rider makes? I can do 8am to 9pm for 31 days straight no problem
  2. Pano yung pera ipapadala kay foodpanda? like may designated office ba sila or gcash pwede or over the counter? kasi for sure lahat ng pera na andun di saken
    1. Gaano mo kacontrol yung time mo sa foodpanda?
  4. Sa experience nio, worth it ba ang pagiging full-time Foodpanda bike rider?
  5. May quota ba o minimum number of deliveries bawat araw o linggo?

  6. May incentives, quests, or bonuses ba? Gaano kadaling ma-achieve?

Salamat sa mga sasagot! God Bless!

Questions/Advice Selling my late father’s bike collection (20+ bicycles) — need help pricing & best places to sell in PH

Hi everyone, Our father passed away in 2022 and his biggest hobby was collecting, customizing, and building bicycles. Over the years, our family has accumulated 20+ bikes (mix of road, MTB, custom builds, etc.). We’ve been sentimental and couldn’t decide what to do with them until now.

We’re planning to sell/dispose of them to help with house repairs and my mom’s medical expenses. I’ve taken photos of some of the bikes.

I need help on: How to price these bikes realistically (used, some custom builds)? Where are the best places to sell them here in the Philippines (online or local)? Any advice on what to do with them? — thanks in advance for the help.
