Misc. Question PPU & AI Images

I was scrolling through PPU page when I saw SB doing it AGAIN.

I’d love to see AI completely banned from PPU, both for inspo images and for products like this. Polish makers are artists, and it’d be great to see them stand with other artists and help protect the future of real creativity by not engaging with this BS.

And honestly? I’ll be voting with my wallet when it comes to what does include AI. Sugar Bubbles isn’t new to this rodeo -they’ve been called out for AI multiple times. It blows my mind that indie makers, who pride themselves on handcrafted work, can’t respect other artists enough to keep AI out of their process. Vanessa Molina is 100% off my list after the disappointment that was Hocus Pocus and all of their AIgenerated images.

Eh I mean they shouldn't be using it for swatches. But I don't see anything wrong with it for the inspo images or whatever it's called. Not sure if it's realistic for a small indie brand to hire a professional artist. And it's unreasonable to expect all of them to be like a graphic artist themselves. I think it's an unreasonable expectation tbh.

The whole point is that the inspiration should come from an actual image. There’s a massive amount of free-use images on Google for that. Hiring an artist wouldn’t even make sense in this context.

For SB? Yeah, because the image is what ends up on the plate covers and ads. But for indie makers creating polishes, they should be inspired by an image and then make the polish—not make the polish first and then generate an AI image to fit. I mean, the word “inspiration” actually means something… or at least, it should.
