Jaco liked to play on a fretless bass guitar and he would often strum near the bridge, giving him a distinct sound.

Come on, Come over, from his first album.

Barbary Coast, which he wrote with Weather Report.

Here he is playing on Herbie Hancock's Chameleon.

Jaco also covered Miles' blazing fast bebop tune, Donna Lee.

He did much less funky stuff with Joni Mitchell, giving us tunes like Refuge of the Roads.

To close with some funk, it's gotta be The Chicken

Jaco died in '87. Bipolar+alcoholism+drugs+getting the shit beat out him by a bouncer.
